Poor Construction

After 8 months, the right piece broke off. A little gorilla glue and it was reattached. 2 weeks later, the left unit broke off. Sony wont fix it and the Allstate extended warranty is impossible to communicate with. So, do I spend another $400 to replace them? Would you?

Subpar Experience

I still own and emphatically use the Mx3's. The 6's are pathetic compared to the sound and build quality of the former headphones. I really wanted to like the 6's, but if you have a discriminate taste and want your music to sound a certain way, these may not be the ones for you. I had other people test the 6's to see if it was just me and they agreed the 3's and 4's are better. Even after messing with the EQ the 6th did not compare. Unless you just want something to listen to music with, I would skip this version.

If/when they make a XM6, I would be surprised if they were much better than these. I would assume they would just make them more foldable and that’s probably the only change people want.

Headphones hurts your ears

These headphones design hurts my ears only after an hour of wearing them. The sound these put out sound hollow and artificial. If you're an average user and haven't tried cans Like Grado or Sennheiser......then you obviously have no idea what I'm even talking about when I talk about good sounding cans. I returned these the next day. I do have to say though that #1. Call quality is top notch & Sound cancellation is excellent........but doesn't meaning nothing to me if the music part is not up to par. For $400......these cans are WAYYYYYYY OVERPRICED for the average sound quality.

Sound also depends on the music you are playing and audio device connected. However, this may be improved by adjusting the setting on the Sony headphone| Connect app according to your preference for best sound experience. For discomfort issues, adjusting them for a personalized fit is easy with a stepless slider, seamless swivel and hanger, and silent joints, makes WH-1000XM5 a pleasure to wear. Posted .Hi Jred1970, Thanks for the interesting question. If you use the analog connection from your phone to the headphones, you are using the DAC from the phone. If you connect the headphone dac/amp to your playback device, you should be able to enjoy your external DAC and then send that analog signal into the WH-1000XM5s via wired connection.

Disappointed after some time

The automatic noise cancellation is bugging me and the side buttons for touch controls are too sensitive. Neither of these features can be turned off. Wish I would have bought the AirPods Max instead.

Overall amazing but not for workingout

The fitment was good when it came to walking around but when laying on a bench the headphones would slide off. Also had an issue where during any over hand movement my shoulders would trigger the haptic controls.

For more serious workouts, we suggest our headphones specifically designed for that task. Check out our WF-C500s and the WF-1000XM4s. Owned for 4 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought these headphones in November 2025 and after only 4 months the hinge broke completely on its own while I was wearing them.No dropping, no impact, no misuse whatsoever. The plastic at the pivot joint just gave out and a large chunk broke off, making them completely unusable. Also, the difference in sound quality compared to the XM4 is practically imperceptible in everyday use. On top of that, the XM4 actually has better active noise cancellation. If you're considering these headphones, my recommendation is to go with the XM4 instead, they're more durable, have better ANC, and the price difference is not justified by any real improvement in the experience.
