After reading an amazing review on soundguys.com for the WH1000XM5 I drove to Best Buy and bought them. The sound is great. The noise cancelling is great (I work from home in a room with a window AC unit). However, I can't hear myself talk when on a call unless I turn off the ANC, and that defeats the purpose of the ANC for me. I'm going to have to return them and find something else.

For this specific issue, I would suggest adjusting the noise cancelling function using the Sony Headphones Connect app and find the right spot where the noise cancellation still blocks out outside noise but still hear your voice during phone calls.

Best Buy Support is the Best! Also headphones good

I bought these not at a sale and almost a month later saw that they were on sale. Best Buy does price match with purchases as long as it fits the qualifications, so I talked to Best Buy support and they refunded me the difference with no hassle!
