Always been a Bose QC fan, bought the QC 15, then upgraded to the QC35II after that. Was thinking of buying the QC45 but then saw the high reviews on this particular model. Did research and finally decided to buy this. No mistake, ANC is excellent, on par with bose. Sound quality, connectivity, battery life and customization is what made the difference.

The Noise cancelling is a nice feature, though you could still slightly hear sounds when playing music when around really loud construction & commuting in train tunnels. The Bass is neat, well matched with song & not overwhelming, The headphones are very comftable to wear. I highly recommend these headphones. Im actually about to get the ear buds next.

Much louder and sound quality is almost as good and you can get them under 200. These have a better app, better mic, better noise cancellation, better controls on headphones, more comfortable, and sound a little better. My only drawback is there’re not as loud otherwise I would give them a five.

The design is very simple and clean regardless of the three colors sony is selling. The audio quality is very crisp with the large drivers it has and has amazing bass. The main key features i love about the XM5’s is the fast and responsive bluetooth connectivity and the sony headphone app for a more personalized experience to change how immersive the audio quality can be. The touch controls are also great and can also be customized. Everyone now a days seems to be turning to headphones the come with ANC (active noise cancelling) these headphones do not disappoint and its almost impossible to hear any pass through or external noise from loud environment. Can barely hear my spouse when she yells my name for something. These headphones are great for workouts, Gaming, or just about any activity for your needs. These are a 10/10

Almost Perfect—If You Don't Mind the Bulk

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Here's a quick and dirty review of the Sony WH-1000XM5. --- Look, the XM5s are the king of noise cancellation for a reason. I put these things on in a coffee shop or on a plane, and the world just disappears. It's almost unsettling how quiet things get. The sound is solid too—warm, detailed, with plenty of bass without being muddy. Sony knows what they're doing here. Battery life is also insane; I charge these things maybe once a week with daily use. That said, they're not perfect. The biggest annoyance? No fold. The XM4s folded up into a nice compact case; these just kinda twist flat but still take up way more space in a bag. They're also all touch controls, which look sleek but get annoying when you accidentally skip a song brushing your shoulder against them. If you want the absolute best ANC and don't care about portability, they're fantastic. If you travel light, the XM4s are still the smarter buy.

Best ANC, not so on audio.

The bass is none existent and voice is muffled not to mention low volume the produce at the max. Can improve a bit with EQ. For pro travelers with ANC in mind, get them. If is music then this are not the headphones for you. I returned them.

Light and comfortable and the NR is excellent. I had originally purchase Air Pods Max, but they were so darn heavy. I am in a full Apple environment and the integration cannot be beat, but those things are ridiculously heavy. I will take the lack of integration to get the nice weight and comfort.

Great- but glasses users beware

The reason these lose a star for me is the new design messes with glasses and disrupts the active noise cancelling which side by side with my WH-1000XM3’s sounds a lot worse. I thought it was a defect, but after looking at the Sony subreddit this is a common issue with glasses users. Not sure if Sony will fix it or not, but as of now ANC quality is severely reduced and underwhelming. Disappointed in Sony as $400 is a lot and I expected better.

It sounds as good, but the ANC is quite a bit better. I bought some beats with ANC between the XM4 and XM5, and the beats were not great in any characteristic - comfort, sound quality, and ANC. The XM5 is top-notch in all 3 areas, and the app that controls the headphones is also top-notch.

Nothing Can Beat These!

As an audiophile I feel these offer the best out of the box sound design compared to other brands like Bose, JBL, JayBird. But the app in order to tune them to your personal liking is super easy to use, intuitive, and makes them sound that much better. I do not get a sense of a V shaped audio profile. I would reccomend these to anyone who is serious about audio quality, audio design, or music production.
