Not for small heads

Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using them for 2 months now and I can say that nothing beats the sound quality, they are soft on the ears, but they're just too big for my head. It slides off when I bow my head down. And when wearing it for a long time, it kinda hurts the top of my head where it touches the headband, even though it's padded. Other than those, I don't have any complain.

The WH-1000XM5 are beautifully finished in newly developed soft fit leather. This material fits snugly around the head with less pressure on the ears while keeping out external sounds. You may try adjusting the headband slider so that they cover your ears and have more personalized comfort. You may also find the following article helpful:

This model doesnt fold. This model also seems to be easier to mark with fingerprints and oils from skin contact. The sound quality is great as I expected and thete is an equalizer app witb presets and you can make customs. The XM4 came with a case that included cords and an airplane adapter. XM5 doesnt inclue the double prong airplane adapter. I still love these but unless XM6 makes some inprovements and take inspiration from thr XM4 I might sit that generation out! Oh yeah.. these give me sweaty ears! These are NOT for the gym or a rainy day. Disappointed in that becuae the ANC is aweaome. Id love ro run in thse but Im sure they woild ger moisture damage

Sony finally toned down the muddy bass and allowed a good sound signature to come out. Still needed to EQ to make them a bit brighter but fantastic headphones. I use them for 6+ hours at a time with no discomfort. Battery life is crazy good and they charge VERY fast. Connection to two devices works great (iPad and iPhone here). The noise cancellation is the strongest I’ve used on any headphones and it doesn’t create any pressure on my head. Very happy with my purchase.

It can cancel people talking right behind you. The quality of sound is amazing and also includes the cable to connect them when you don't have battery. Normally I used them 2 days without charge them. it is important ajust them well in your head and ears to help the noise cancelling

The noise cancelling is so effective that when I turn them off, it sounds like construction is going on outside my home until I realize that this noise is the noise I listen to all day long. These are worth every penny! The sales person who helped me in the store was so friendly, helpful, and wore a mask to protect the both of us. She made me want to buy even more. It is ideal for traveling. Unfortunately, that is not my major use. Pros. Best sound isolation i have tried. I thought that my xm3's where great, this is much better. Being able to pair with 2 or more devices at a time is what originally had me try them. It works great for that. I have them connected to phone, tablet and computer. Auto switching when sound is heard on each device. The ear pads are larger but thinner than early models. Better fit for me. That is totally a subjective veiw. Some don't like that, others do Cons.. greatest con, the lack of control over sound isolation. Good for traveling which helps you hear important voices but terrible for when you want silence, which is why i use them. Sometimes the auto shut-off of noise canceling if i cough or say something when i had disabled that feature is really annoying when I'm in a very loud area, like mowing my lawn. I can not get the headphones to cancel out voice at all. With the model 3 you could set voice canceling but with this model 5 you can not. I can no longer pair my model 3 with my phone, the sony app refuses to connect. Still waiting for an answer from them. Ok, lest bad thing but very important. Normally, when you take off your headphones, you either put them around your neck or lay them down with the pads close to your body or down toward the table. The model 5 will only fold forward if you loop them around your neck so the ear pads are pointed away from you, open to anything that could get in them. Dirt, water, bugs, people sneezing, whatever. So, if you don't want your headphones collecting these things, you can not put them around your neck. You must take them all the way off and find a way to protect them because they will not fold together either. Overall, I love them. A little annoying to take care of them but I find it worth it for their abilities.

Great Headphones that Last Forever

Essentially takes away the sound of the plane engine when I have been flying. Voices will sometimes still leak through, but ultimately these do a great job of blocking out sounds while still performing great. The battery is what may be most impressive. Have used on flight beginning of week, throw into bag and use again on flight home, no issues.
