They had and how light the model looks that these would have very good noise-canceling properties. But it doesn't, I think, because of how light it is, the muffling quality from the outside world is just lax, and not as good as you would think it is very light. I will give it that, but the noise-canceling properties are not good at all. You're wasting more money compared to like the older generation headphone, which, while yes, they are a little heavier, they are cheaper. And they have better noise-canceling qualities. If you're into lightness and esthetic and don't mind Not so good noise-canceling qualities, then definitely go for these. But if you are into noise-canceling qualities, definitely look into an older generation or a different pair of headphones. But not Bose, because they're just as light and bad. But the Sony earbuds or anyone's noise-canceling earbuds tend to be very good.

Thank you for sharing your hones review of the WH-1000XM5. We are very sorry that the Noise Canceling (ANC) did not meet your high expectations, especially feeling that the older XM4 offered a better, more complete seal.
We completely understand your focus on achieving ultimate silence. If your priority is the absolute best noise-canceling performance, we would recommend looking into the WH-1000XM6, as it is our latest model and features a new QN3 processor and 12-microphone array. This hardware is designed to deliver a noticeable improvement in overall ANC and is specifically engineered to handle the mid-to-high frequency noises, like voices, that you mentioned.
Before upgrading, please ensure you have disabled Adaptive Sound Control in the Sony | Headphones Connect app. This feature often automatically lowers the ANC, which can create the "lax" muffling effect you described.

I compared them with Bose 700s that my co-worker tried swearing up & down was better. Of the 2, yes the Bose are better at music wuality honestly, but for phone calls… Sony all day! Perfect sound quality in and going out, and i even made a call once while vacuuming and the person on the phone with me could not hear my very loud vacuum at all!

It's a good headset depending on what you like and what you're coming from. If you don't mind Bose sound tuning of less bass and more mids it's not bad. I not the Google Assistant is a little more consistent than the XM-4. The charging on this headset is a massive upgrade in speed. In less than an hour at work they went from empty to full. By default the auto pausing is a little sensitive. My main gripe with these is the noise canceling microphones while on a voice call. While the canceling and voice isolation is incredible it's inconsistent. I was able to have real conversations on the phone while mowing my lawn speaking normally. At the same time the connection was shaky and inconsistent. Nice that connection becomes more solid this will be a game changing headset.

Big Head - Sony vs Max

Most of my devices are apple and this works super smooth between them, its easy to connect and everything. The transparent mode is unmatched for the maxs, but I think everything else is better on the 5s. I have a bigger head and to me these fit much better than the maxs, I would suggest this for bigger head people the maxs had a lot of force and did not feel good for long periods.

I've have the new gen airpods pro's and a fresh new pair of wf1000xm4 from sony as a replacement. After having all tried them all, these hand downs are my favorite and hard to put down once there on. Earbuds are cool when needed especially workingout but man these are just great for working from home and just lounging. Get them if you CAN!
