Do not sleep with these headphones on, or you're asking for trouble. Otherwise, they are absolutely amazing. They're a huge upgrade from the XM3 and even XM4.

It is not recommended to wear over-ear headphones like the WH-1000XM5 while sleeping due to potential discomfort and the risk of damaging the headphones or causing harm to your ears. I noticed a beeping sound when I first bought it during listening. All you have to do is change the toggle where it switches automatically. The headphones are trying to automatically adjust to ambient and noise canceling. I took that off now what ever I do im in controll of the sound And no beeping.

Replacing my XM4s

So I decided to get the XM5s on sale and they are just as good, if not better than the XM4s. The headphones sound great and aesthetically pleasing. I wouldn't necessarily upgrade from the XM4, but if you don't have either, go ahead and grab the XM5. You won't regret it!

I was completely blown away by the 5 (they don’t fold up like the 4) the sound is incredible. They knock the BOSE out the park, (my personal opinion). They also have an app that my nephew downloaded for me and I can make adjustments to the sound and many of the other features. My nephew is doing chores around my house to make extra money to purchase the XMS5.

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the WH-1000XM5. If you find the audio levels too low, we recommend ensuring that the volume is turned up to the maximum on both your connected device and the headphones themselves. You can increase the internal volume of the headphones independently by swiping up and holding your finger on the right ear cup touch sensor until you hear a beep indicating it has reached the limit.
We also suggest making sure the Noise Canceling feature is fully activated while listening. By blocking out external ambient sounds, Noise Canceling allows the audio from your headphones to come through much louder and clearer without the need to significantly increase the volume levels. You can toggle this feature easily using the NC/AMB button on the left ear cup or through the Sony Sound Connect app.
