In my opinion, they are the best the only thing that I don’t like is that they are made out of eco-friendly material which I do like, but I feel that they could’ve spent more time developing a more premium feel at this price point, and still be eco-friendly. The box is eco-friendly and recyclable that it comes in, and the case that it comes in is made of cloth. It comes with a companion app that allows you to change all of the EQ settings, which is very important for listening to different types of music. It lasts long. Sometimes I don’t have to charge it for a full week and I get a lot of active use out of it it’s decent for phone calls, but better for listening to music without other people hearing what you listen to. I highly recommend these and the former version the 1000 XM4. The noise cancellation on these are as phenomenal as it gets.

The material used for the cushions is super soft and premium. The equalizer is amazing, though I like the out the box sound to have a very balanced sound. Battery life has been great so far. I wish there was a little bit more customization in the app for non Spotify users.

We do have in our mist a User" Sony has been a very solid performer and overall top seller of headphones. While others have done this or that better ...the Sony headphones seem to gain the top spot of sales more times than not. This release from Sony, the XM5, gives the user a completely different look with stronger ANC and better sound quality. You can count on on very good imaging for bluetooth devices, good separation, and more balance tones across the mids and bass. But the underated surprise is the dominance of phone call quality. Sony is now the leader in headphone voice quality on phone calls, yes better than the Airpods Max. When you add the fact that they don't care about what kind of phone you use to take advantage of them, the battery life, and the multiple device connection ...you clearly see why Sony is once again the King. The only spot of concern is the lack of space inside the earcups. I think they could have done a better job with the spacing. Even more than before you ears are resting on the driver pad, which could be a deal breaker for some. I've just accepted this and moved on and now it doesn't bother me anymore but it might bother you. Overall I still have to recommend this headphone.

Best so far for ear cartilage pain free!

I decided to try again and spent time researching. These kept popping up for their ear comfort. So far these have not caused my ears, the cartilage, to ache once. I can wear them for hours during my workday, listening to music or shows and during my workouts with no ear pain! It's wild! Now, my ears may sweat and the top of my head gets a little sore, but I will take it as a win. Even my work, high dollar meetings headset kills my ears. I do have to reset settings but I think that is just me needing to learn the headset better. I turned off the touch controls yesterday as I was hitting them during workouts and causing disruptions. I do have a little head and these are still slightly big on me but again, I will take the win of no ear pain. They tend to slip off if I am doing floor strength training, so making a high bun helps support the headphones from sliding off. The sound is good..i am still playing around with that to nail the perfect tones.

They are not as noise canceling as Apple ones, but the weight and price were more suited for my needs. I have been so careful and protective of these, gently removing them and placing them back in their case or each use. I just barely hit 2 years of having them and when I removed pulled them from the case today, a piece of plastic popped into my lap and it's the part where one of the ear cups rotates and so basically they are not usuable. No seal, no ability to even align with the ear in a way that I could use them again. So sad.

They are not waterproof however you can buy silicone covers on amazon! I wish they were a bit louder but they stay on the head and are very comfortable! I only have needed to charge it once!

A Necessity in Life!

I did my homework and started saving money for these headphones. I was even gifted cash and gift cards from a few who knew I was saving up. 11/10 recommend these to busy moms like myself who get easily distracted or are very nosey. When I need to focus, I turn on the noise cancellation and tell those around me “bye”…. my family already knows what that means. I’ve had these headphones for about 2 years now and have a cheaper version on order to give my son for Christmas. If he does well with them, I see myself handing my pair down to him or buying the newer version. I love how flexible to features are, including being able to turn off the talking feature that pauses your sound. That comes in handy when you’re sick and coughing or sniffing… learned real quick just how sensitive that feature can be. For the most part, I used my headphones when cleaning house, gaming on my PC, and traveling (I’m a passenger princess). They easily connected to my PC, 2 different IPhones and an IPad. I haven’t tried any other devices but I bet they’d connect to at least two of the TV’s we have. I have let my son use them but with their pricey cost, I get nervous. We both love how comfortable they are and the long battery life is unbelievable! I wish I hadn’t waited so long to purchase them. They quickly became a staple item to have! *excuse the horrible picture of myself cleaning house…. It was the only one I had of my wearing the headphones.

They Broke

I listen to everything from EDM, Rap and Metal and it sounds amazing for all genres. I wish they were water resistant but I found some sweat covers online that work perfectly.

XM5’s have good ANC and well rounded audio

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from Bose QC35ii, the XM5’s had equal or better active noise cancellation (ANC) and much better bass & low frequency audio - not overly bass heavy, but enough to realize the XM5’s sound great and the QC35ii’s really don’t have that much bass & low end. Sony utilizes photo mapping your ears with your smartphone to custom tune the sound and their “360 Reality Audio” seems to be their version of spatial audio to give a much wider soundstage. It works well. One item to consider is using an audio “digital-to-analog” converter (DAC). Doing so really helps the XM5’s reach their full potential, but they also do daily well by themselves, wireless or wired. Sony’s done a nice job with them. I recommend the XM5’s. Are they perfect? No. But at their regular price point, they do a good job. And if they’re on sale, better yet.
