They may look large on my head but the quality sound, microphone and comfort are worth it. I especially have loved the noise cancelling when I use them for work, it helps me concentrate better.

Great headphones with amazing sound quality and stellar noise cancelation. Honestly I debated between these and the AirPod Maxes, and I’m glad I chose this one (my wallet is happy too lol). I’ve tried both on, and couldn’t see a difference in sound quality. Also these are great for traveling, if u don’t mind the bulk of the carrying case. It filters out loud engine noise and children screaming on flights, and lasts for 25+ hours, so I’d definitely recommend!!

best headphones i’ve owned. the noise cancelling is excellent and the battery life is very long. the sound quality is also amazing. the only minor thing is that they get slightly unco to wear after a long period of time, for me it’s on the top of my head where the band is. other than that, i use them daily and they’re my favorite headphones i’ve owned

My "daily driver" headphones are in-ear Beats Fit Pro and AirPods Pro; wired Westone W40 (airplanes); and Bose QC35 ii (which for some reason has started to disconnect from my iPad Pro). These are the best, but I do not plan to take from home except on trips (due to their size and the case). Pros - Noise cancelling is absolutely the best for white noise (my AirPods Pro - latest firmware - has lost 80% of noise cancellation) - I can play music super low - like 5-15% of total. I can't imagine what "loud" is on these... - Sound stage is excellent. I haven't had to mess with the EQ nor on-device bass reduction, even though strong bass gives me a headache - Bluetooth connection is good with Apple products (I haven't tried multi-device connect - which works really well with Bose and Apple headphones - because I don't want to disable LDAC) - The app isn't bad. Quirky, okay, but there are a lot of controls - and you can see Sony has improved it over the past 2-3 years with more functionality - Speak-to-pause works well (disables noise cancellation and you can talk with others). Some quirks to it - i.e. if you manually turn on passthrough it will accidentally turn on noise canc ... this happens sometimes.. - Fit is comfortable compared with others (Bose QC35/45 have also been good to me) - Bluetooth connection is stable 50+ feet from the source. If this becomes a problem, you can disable some things to get greater distance Cons - The "cabin pressure" of Sony headphones appears greater than Bose - They do get warm on my ears - the "leather" is plasticky - The matte plastic coating picks up fingerprints and oil like nothing else - They cut out a bit on certain iOS sources - I need to investigate as it might be either alerts or something else confusing the Bluetooth source - Music pause (when removed from ears) always works. But resume only works about 20-30% of the time. - Touch controls can be infuriating at times. I've disabled, but it still makes the touch sound... - Dog barking and people talking still leaks through. I presume so will airplane announcements - they've had to do this for safety reasons Cost cutting - The case is really cheap - I'm guessing the zipper will break within weeks - The blue power/pairing light isn't helpful - they should have used green/blue/red for on/off status (cost cutting) - and doesn't show solid as you're turning it off - The USB port - Type C - seems cheap/weak. This could be an issue real soon. - The outside box, as well, is super cheap. You have to nearly tear it apart to get the headphone box out. [UNBOXING is awful] - They came - on day 1 - only charged 63%. That seemed a bit odd for a new release... And they are expensive - $400 is not cheap, yet the case and box are really cheap.

I have had these headphones for a year and a half, and I loved them. They had great audio quality, battery life, solid software, and features. Now I come to the reason for my one-star rating, and this is the part you should be aware of before purchasing this product. I came home one day and went to put on my headphones, and realized that the left hinge had almost completely snapped off. The product was never dropped, damaged, or misused in any way, and yet the hinge broke. I checked if other users have had this issue and was surprised to find that this was a known issue with the XM5s. I contacted Sony support and spoke to both their customer service and customer relations teams. Still, they said Sony would not cover this issue because it is physical damage, and offered a "low-cost" repair for $100. This directly conflicts with Sony's policy, which should cover "defects in materials or workmanship under normal use". I am extremely disappointed in the resolution to this issue because the product itself is great, but for a known issue resulting from inadequate manufacturing, to receive neither a proper recall nor a replacement/repair initiative is unacceptable. I am now stuck between either paying an extra $100 and spending multiple weeks to get the product repaired, essentially making the headphones cost $450, or selling them at a significantly reduced rate and eating up the cost of buying new headphones after 2 years. This defect and the resolution by Sony have been so dissatisfactory that I will likely never purchase a Sony product again. TL;DR: Sony headphones' hinge broke under normal use due to a known manufacturing defect. Sony's customer service denied any under-warranty repair/replacement option, citing physical damage in contrast to their policy. Offered me a long wait, $100 repair option. If you choose to buy the XM line of headphones, be aware that there are known product issues that likely won't get resolved even under warranty, and you should probably look to Sennheiser and Bose for better product/company satisfaction.

These Sony headphone are the TRUTH. Sony headphone have gotten me through some of the noises days. Being I used to be in band. The noise cancellation really works wonders. The headphone cushion are comfortable fitted to your ear and stable. When you first buy them the headphone fit a little tight but will get loose after awhile. Please avoid any steam or water because it will get damaged. I avoid any hard rain fall because they will get damaged. I try to keep it out the shower because they will get mess up. Overall I use these more than my beats. Also the sound quality is top tier.

These headphones are great for airplane rides, I wore them on a trip and fell asleep and woke up when the plane was landing. They are also great if you get over stimulated easily because they block out noises. It also has a feature for you to turn off noise cancellation and hear if someone is talking to you. Lastly, they’re comfortable as well, the foam around the ears are really soft.

Great headphones. Good sound quality and they stay on easily when riding a bike or working out.

I’ve had both the AirPod Max and the Sony m5 and the Sonys are way better and better priced than the apples. Sound quality is better, better comfort, and noise canceling is far superior. Def recommend.

Been using the Sony XM models since 2018 with the XM3's. Eventually to the XM4's and now the XM5's. I used my headphones roughly 8 hours a day pretty much every day and every pair held up just fine until the XM5's. This is my second pair of XM5's that have broken due to manufacture defect in the hinge. This hinge problem is a well known issue by Sony with hundreds of posts on various websites. Their own sony support forums has a post with over 12000 views for the hinge issue. For reference the rest of their posts only have a few hundred views, maybe breaking 1000 on one or two. The first pair of XM5's lasted 1 day after the warranty. The most recent pair only lasted 6 months. The only thing that has happened with these headphones is they go from my head to my desk to charge then back on my head the next day. Sony refuses to honor their 1 year warranty for manufacturer defects. Instead of fixing their mistake they will try to charge you $100 to fix their defect. If you look at any of the other broken headphone posts on bestbuy or wherever. ITS ALWAYS at the hinge. This is a clear defect and Sony like all large corporations try to play innocent. check the pictures in the post. got one of both pairs and then the most recent pairs break I really don't want to leave a one star review because these headphones sound AMAZING. and their battery life is fantastic and on top of that they charge quickly. 10-15 minutes and they are good to go usually. So if you are a minimum use headphone user these are probably okay if you got cash to spend, but i cannot recommend these. For $400 dollars a pop they should last more than a year.

I will admit, I was hesitant about these headphones when I first saw them all around TikTok and YouTube. I tried them at Best Buy, but I initially didn’t like how dirty they got or the sound quality. I was more leaning towards the XM4s when I tried them on, but the ear cups on those felt more shallow and more pressed on my ears. I just instead went for it, bought the XM5s and gave them a try. After two weeks of using them while studying, commuting and working on college work, I was surprised and very happy. The headphones are very comfortable to wear for hours on end, and the ear cups are very plush and soft. My ears have not hurt so far, and they do tend to have a bit of depth, so your ears won’t be touching as much or at all to the ear cup mesh. The sound quality isn’t good out of the box, but once you tune it to your preference using the Sony Connect App, the sound quality is just top tier. I love the bit of punchy bass, but it’s not too much or harsh like the Ult Wear, which I prefer. The noise cancellation is amazing. Best I’ve ever heard. While walking around campus with loud noises, wind and cars going by, I barely could here any of my surroundings. It truly does a good job blocking all the noise with the 8 mics. And the transparency works wonderful. You can also let the headphones automatically adjust the amount of ambient noise allowed based on your surroundings, so you can hear just a bit of the outside noise, like walking across an intersection. Although these don’t fold, I really haven’t had a problem with that fitting them in my school bag, I actually prefer them not having them fold since I feel like I would be more likely to break them easily. My only gripe is that the headphones tend to pick up a lot of fingerprints. I have the blue color, and the fingerprints really show up even after just touching the ear pad controls for just a few minutes. So if you do like the black or blue, just know you’ll be getting fingerprints. If you get the smoky pink or the white color, I don’t think so. Also, even if they are full price at Best Buy at the time you get them or about to get them, you can totally price match them within the return policy. I got mine price matched after my purchase and was quick and easy with customer service. Just something to keep in mind. Otherwise, I have been very happy with these headphones. Great sound quality, comfortable Feel, sleek and smooth design, and overall a nice pair of headphones for anyone.

honestly, i had very high expectations for these headphones, and they didn’t disappoint! I love listening to my music very loud, they have great bass. Also, my opinion might not be the most valid since I’m not a headphone expert or anything like that, but they are amazing quality!! Very long battery life too, and it was very much worth the price.

I’ve bought these a couple of months back. I love everything about them when it comes to the noise cancellation and sound and even the app where u can customize the sound. However connecting it to my laptop tends to give me a headache. I use an HP 2 in 1 laptop and it drives me insane. I’ve sat here for the past 20 minutes trying to connect my headphones to my laptop and it still won’t work. It says it connect at moment and then my show would play but no sound would come out and then this ear piercing sound comes out of it basically shutting down my headphones. I would have to then repeat the process over and over and over again in hopes that it would eventually connect.

I love how sony has contuniously improved from the previous generations of MX headsets. I started with the 700’s, the quality of the set and sound are second to none for that price point. The noise canceling has also improved from the set I purchased two years ago. I use them at the gym every day and the battery life is incredible. Great choice for this price point. I recommend to all.

This headphones are pretty incredible, can’t hear a thing when I have them on. Noise cancelling is so good.

I bought these headphones off of a recommendation of an earlier version. I love them. They provide the level of sound and noise cancelling that I need in order to get work done or get a workout in or just listen to music and be in a zone. The fact that they come with their own carrying case and there is a space in the carrying case for the cords is also so convenient as well, means that I can literally carry everything in one case and I don't need to carry an extra cord or anything since it's all in the case. Also, being able to not use the bluetooth feature but directly plug into a headphone jack was also something that drew me to this product as I often switch between my phone and my computer this feature makes it much easier to transition. There is also an app that lets you customize your listening experience and I find this to be helpful in providing the best listening experience for me.

The Sony XM5s provide me with comfort for long hours of studying along with the game changing feature - multipoint connection. I am able to seamlessly which between my PC and my phone, providing an apple like ecosystem experience. The sound connect app is the best app I've ever used for any kind of headphones I've owned because of how easy it is to control my XM5s between my devices.
