The 3 had great sound and noise canceling ability. I used them frequently and wore them out. I was happy to get this pair in January of 2023. by August the earpiece connection had broken. Its not considered a warranty item even though it is under warranty. Repair would cost nearly as much as a new pair. The redesign of the connectors (much thinner than the 3 and the 4) has built in accelerated obsolescence. If you plan to use these often you would be better with the better designed 4 version. This is a waste of money unless you only use them occasionally.

Connecting issues

I love everything about them when it comes to the noise cancellation and sound and even the app where u can customize the sound. However connecting it to my laptop tends to give me a headache. I use an HP 2 in 1 laptop and it drives me insane. I’ve sat here for the past 20 minutes trying to connect my headphones to my laptop and it still won’t work. It says it connect at moment and then my show would play but no sound would come out and then this ear piercing sound comes out of it basically shutting down my headphones. I would have to then repeat the process over and over and over again in hopes that it would eventually connect.

To ensure you get the best Bluetooth connection, please set the headphones Sound Quality Mode to “Priority on stable connection." Choosing the correct Sound Quality Mode improves communication between your headphones and your mobile device.
If you haven't yet, please update its firmware to the latest version. The software includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements. It also provides fixes to any performance issues you are encountering. For more information, please visit the link below:

The sound quality and EQ features are pristine with great bass, most effective for office or home use, but definitely great for commuting, too. Fit is great and very lightweight. Compact and easy to travel with. I definitely recommend!

You can hardly hear anything from your surroundings, which is a great feature for people that have flying anxiety. They’re very light and can fit flat in your carry on, if you don’t want to carry the carrying case.

The material used for the cushions is super soft and premium. The equalizer is amazing, though I like the out the box sound to have a very balanced sound. Battery life has been great so far. I wish there was a little bit more customization in the app for non Spotify users.

But very comfortable and the added advanced touch features and immersive /360° audio definitely bridges any doubts about these headphones. Ear cups can get hot if doing activity. So if thats the case, i wouldnt recommend

Great Sound and Tech, Questionable Build Quality

I grabbed them to use them for their 51st’ish hour of use ans the left ear piece snapped off as I was putting them on. I do not have a large head. I have owned and bought for others: XM2s, XM3s, and now these XM5s. I think Sony got it wrong with the structural change.

Im getting them as an upgrade to the previous version. The materials are quality and nice to the touch. I wore them on an international trip amd they were still comfortable after hours of use.
