I stood next to a train and was able to talk on the phone uninterrupted. Audio is also well balanced and a wide range of genres sound great (from jazz to classic rock to hip hop, etc.). Halfway through I did have some mechanical creaking show up but I traced that back to wearing them while walking around in hot weather for too long (I was still in the exchange window with geek squad so I exchanged them). My recommendation is to enjoy them indoors (or outside in moderate temperatures) while mostly stationary. If you sweat a lot you may end up getting some creaking noises while they dry out.

Originally purchased for a long flight and they were great and still are worth it. They come with a case and are able to be wired or Bluetooth.

Regarding that Bluetooth delay, we definitely want to make your workday smoother! A great way to fix this is by using the "Multi-point Connection" feature in the Sony | Headphones Connect app. This allows your headphones to stay paired to both your phone and your laptop at the same time, so you won't have to manually reconnect every time you put them back on.
Also, checking that your Windows "Swift Pair" setting is toggled On can make that initial handshake almost instant!

Also because the XM5 does have some cool features such as the ambience mode, especially the noise-cancelling mode so you can hear your inner demo- I mean, your music. The feel and quality of the headphones is quite sturdy and soft, specifically the thing or part that goes around the ears, it doesnt feel squished or weighted down as much compared to other headphones. The sound quality is excellent from the phones; the quality from the microphones is OK. They are light in weight, which is nice. I wonder how well the ear pads will wear. Overall, the workmanship feels and looks good - as usual for Sony. The microphone does not work when using the wired connection, not mentioned in the documentation! Fortunately the excellent Sony support staff quickly explained that this is how it’s designed. Swiping on the phones to change the volume is clumsy and slow. Also annoying: the power button is an awkwardly placed tiny button. The unit shuts off automatically when taken off, which is nice - but requires more effort than it should to restart.

While we designed these with a lightweight "Soft Fit Leather" headband to be very comfortable for most, we understand that fit can be a very personal experience.
