Solid Upgrade from XM5

Huge upgrade on the noise cancellation on the plane. Clamping force is a bit stronger with this one which is really nice, doesn't slip off when I am working out. First day or so my ear was a bit uncomfortable which had me worried but once it "broke in" its been smooth sailing and very comfortable.

Noise cancelling and ambient sound (transparency mode) has improved significantly from the previous model. They're very comfortable, travel case is unique with the magnetic locking mechanism, and the customizable EQ is awesome! Lastly, they work great as a Playstation headset but an external mic would be required.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This holiday season I bought the Bose QC Ultra gen 2, Bowers and Wilkins Px7 s3, and the XM6. I returned the Bose and B&Ws, and I'm keeping the Sony's. The Sony's just do everything right in my opinion. The Bose sounded the worst by far even after being EQ'd, and I would say the PX7 S3 sound the best out of the box, however the Sony's can be EQ'd and sound great. Sony's ANC is significantly better than the other two with B&W being the worst. The call quality is decent on all three, but I think the Bose were the best in that category. In terms of comfort, I found the Bose are too loose and would slide on my head, which triggers the in ear detection to pause what you're listening to constantly. The PX7 s3 clamping force is too much and are heavier, so comfort is their biggest drawback. Sony's strikes the right balance between weight and clamping force, and they don't slide on my head. The Sony's and Bose are both comfortable with glasses. Sony's build quality is probably the most questionable of three and time will tell if they fixed the hinge issue like the XM5 had. Overall, the Sony's are definitely the most well rounded of these three that came out this year, especially for noise canceling and sound quality. I might have kept the B&Ws, if they weren't so tight on the head. I was just downright disappointed by the Bose.

Amazing Headphones For Flights

Good new headphones

Overall, a nice upgrade (But if I didnt lose my old headphones, probably would not upgrade). The quality of the sound and ANC is amazing -as expected from Sony. The gestures and controls are similar to other sony devices and intuitive. Pairing to the phone and devices are easy with the App. The case is now clam shell with a clip vs. with a zipper. Overall, good new headphones if you need a new one but not too much changes from the xm4

To keep it in perspective, I still have my Bose Ultra earbuds and will never leave. Ive tried every earbud on the market and none come close to the bose for sound, NC, and comfort. The talking is less to be desired but the gen 2 are to be relased later this week and they claim to have fixed the issue. Now onto the Sony XM6. These are by far the best over ear headphones on the market. You’ve probably researched all the reviews on youtube and they are correct. The only thing I would add is to find YOUR best suited EQ settings. This is extremely important. I followed this one guy on IG and he shared his setting and I ‘liked’ the XM6 before the adjustment, now afterwards I will confirm these are a perfect 10. A must have. So yes buy them, yes fix your EQ settings and finally yes you will say I do NOT have buyers remorse. This is just one man’s, in search of the perfect headphones opinion. Thank you for reading.

Great for autism

Just what I was looking for

There are vey distinct sounds and tones that are required in order for the session to become truly effective. Previously I had bought the Bose Ultra but they were not meeting my expectations. I was on the fence of buying these for a while because it’s an expensive device. After a few months of contemplating, I caved in and I’m so glad that I did! The sound quality out of the box was just like the Bose Ultras however the sound truly gets unlocked when you download the app. I am no sound expert but I know what I like. The app is able to run a fit test and sound test to fit YOUR needs. Then it gives you an EQ setting based on your preferences. (You can also adjust the results to really narrow down your needs)

Owned XM2, XM4, XM5 before buying these.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Literal 5 star review. No hyperbole. I owned the XM2’s then didn’t need a new pair until they died. Those sounded incredible and my experience with them was great. Sticking with the Sony line was worth the cost of admission, so I bought the XM5’s which had just come out. After using them for a few days I returned them. They sounded incredible and much improved over my previous pair, but I hated that they didn’t fold down, plus it seemed the quality of the build was cheaper. I wanted to wait for the release of the XM6’s to see if they improved those concerns in any way, but in the meantime purchased the XM4’s to hold me over. Fast forward about 3 years to now and the XM6’s drop. Purchased them week one and as someone whose owned the XM2, XM4 and XM5 I can confidentally say that these are king of the hill to date. It seems to me if you had anything prior to the XM5, these have noticeable sound improvements and noise cancelling. If you have the XM5 previously, any improvement is not overly obvious to maybe a non-audiophile/obsessive. Maybe the hear through is better a pinch, but the noise cancelling, tuning, and overall sound is not vastly different. However, the build quality seems better and the folding is back. Recommend, that’s for sure, even with the $50 price increase.

Best Noise Canceling

Is good but need better design

The confort is no good, the ear touch the cloth that come inside, need to be deeper, the ear cups are small and don't cover of the ear.

Best Headphones in the market right now

I've been using the Airpods Max for years because of the said features and I'm glad to made the switch with the XM6. Much, much better and more comfortable than the Airpods Max. And the carrying case is a huge plus.

Nice headphones

Noise is canceled pretty well. My only issue is every time I cough, sneeze or any other sudden sound around me the ambient sound shifts automatically turning noise canceling feature off. I have manually turn noise canceling back on. It would be nice to be set the ambient sound control to stay on noise canceling no matter what sound is happening around me.

Regarding your experience with noise canceling automatically switching off when you cough, sneeze, or there’s a sudden loud noise: this is an intended function of the adaptive sound controls, which are designed to optimize your listening experience and situational awareness by temporarily adjusting settings in response to certain environmental triggers.
We recognize that this auto-switching can sometimes be disruptive for users who prefer uninterrupted noise canceling. While it’s not currently possible to fully disable these auto-adjustments and keep NC mode continuously on, we encourage you to update both your headphones and the Sony | Sound Connect app to the latest version, as newer firmware may offer improved control or adjustments over these features. You can also review the adaptive sound and noise canceling options in the app settings—disabling features like Adaptive Sound Control or Speak-to-Chat may help minimize these unwanted changes.
