We are sorry to hear about the discomfort you're experiencing. You should not be able to feel the internal components against your ears. To improve the fit and comfort, we recommend the following:

1. Check Headband Adjustment: Ensure the headband is adjusted so the earcups sit centered over your ears. If the headband is too loose, the earcups may tilt, causing the internal hardware to make contact with your ear.

2. Adjust Orientation: Adjust the orientation of the left and right units so that the earpads fit snugly all around your ears.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback, Matt. We're glad to hear that the WH-1000XM6 addressed many of your concerns from the XM5, especially with noticeable improvements to vocal clarity. With the XM6, Sony introduced several enhancements such as updated noise cancelling algorithms, a faster processor (claimed to be 7x faster than previous generations), and additional microphones to further improve both noise cancellation and call quality.

At the same time, we recognize your observation that the Bose QC Ultra may still have an edge in noise cancelling for certain environments, but the XM6 aims to provide even more robust and adaptive noise cancelling—though experience can vary depending on use case and personal preference.

We truly value direct comparisons like yours, as they help drive future improvements. If there are specific scenarios where you feel the noise cancellation could be stronger, please let us know—Sony takes user input seriously in ongoing product development.
