Great, if you use your own eq setting

However, the eq itself is quite comprehensive and you can dial the sound to your taste pretty quickly. DEFINITELY EXPERIMENT WITH EQ because my first impression when I used it for the first time wasn't very good. Then I spent some time tweaking the eq settings and am now very happy with it!

I use a pair of air pods max and I feel like the sound quality doesn't compare unless you like a more bassy sound. Airpods have a more balance sound. Great build quality and very nice case. Simply wasn't for me.

Great When They Work Correctly

Unfortunately they break way too easily. For reference, I have bought the previous 3 headphones in this series (xm4, xm5, xm6). All have broken within a year and a half, and these broke in 4 months. As some have mentioned, these headphones can get pretty warm, which can obviously lead to sweating a bit, especially in warm areas. In just 4 months, whenever it gets remotely hot out, or I sweat even a little, there is a crackling sound when using the noise cancelling in the right earpad. I've found out it was condensation building up in the headphones that caused it. Sony support is even worse. Their text support is nearly non-functional, with agents randomly ending chats, making it nearly impossible to get through one fully. Call support isn't much better, as I was told I would have to send the headphones in for them to "determine" if the pair was truly defective to get a new pair sent, a process that could "take 2-3 weeks" according to Sony support. I work from home, so having no sound for that long a time is not possible for me. Of course I could buy a cheap pair of stand in headphones, but the point is that a 450 dollar pair of headphones should last longer than 4 months. I've had similar issues with previous models as well. TLDR: Great when they work, but the fragility of these headphones make it hard to recommend for the price.

Nice headphones, but a bit pricey

I also have 2 pairs of Bose QuietComfort. I don’t think the So us are substantially better to justify the higher cost.

As with both of tge other's, they each present " listening" from a different perspective. Not better or worse...just different. You have to choose the perspective that fitscyur taste.

The Best for Trebles/ANC, But Bass Enjoyers Beware
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.While the XM6s have technically superior active noise cancelling and definition on higher frequencies like trebles and mids, they lack the excellent, impactful bass of previous generations like the XM3 and XM4. Equalization efforts do not fix this. If bass is important to you, I would recommend checking out the previous generations instead (but avoiding the XM5s as their bass is also muddy and weak). If high frequency clarity or noise cancelling are most important to you instead, then the XM6s do perform better, but at a much steeper price tag.
