Great upgrade from XM4

best 5.4 bluetooth headphones, but worst mic ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.wonderful options for equalizer, but youre forced to use the absolutely abyssmal microphone which sounds underwatery and garbage. the noise cancelling is bar none the best in class, and the comfort is phenomenal. but being forced to use the microphone, something that can not be passed through, is a real deal breaker. literally the worst microphone i own is on these june 2025 $450 headphones. what gives?

The current design uses integrated microphones optimized for voice and call clarity, but the performance may not match expectations for every use case—especially in noisy or dynamic environments or when compared to dedicated desktop microphones.
During calls, Bluetooth connection protocols can limit microphone bandwidth, and the Sidetone feature (which can be disabled in the Sony Sound Connect app) may further affect how your voice sounds. Unfortunately, bypassing the built-in microphone with an external mic is not supported when using the headphones wirelessly.
We suggest that you regularly update your headphones and software, ensure that your headset is selected as the input device in your call application settings, and clean the microphone area. If you are still facing issues, we genuinely value your feedback as it plays a crucial role in enhancing our products. Left with these I have 0 regrets and I’m an Apple person ! I love these ! Definitely worth the price! My husband was using the wet vac the other day I didn’t hear anything !

Very muted mubled sound

I recently had purchased the XM5 few days prior to ordering the XM6. The wider headband on the XM6 tends hold in place while running a 5k compared to the shorter head band on the XM5. In summary if your looking for a overear headphones that tends to feel apart of you even if your doing physical activities. This one might be for you.
