We are sorry to hear that your experience with the WH-1000XM6 has not met your expectations, especially after moving from the XM5. The issues you described—poor sound quality, a "toy-like" microphone, and random shutdowns—are certainly not typical of this model, which features an upgraded QN3 processor and 12-microphone system for improved clarity. We recommend disabling the "Automatic Power Off" setting in the Sony Sound Connect app to address the shutdowns and performing a factory reset (holding the power and noise-canceling buttons for 10 seconds) to resolve potential software glitches affecting the audio; however, if the issues persist, it is very likely you have a defective unit and we encourage you to utilize your warranty for a replacement.
