A sturdier feeling improvement

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to the WH-1000XM6s after having a lot of issues with the swivel bracket on my WH-1000XM5s breaking on two different occasions. I was a big fan of the XM5s because the noise canceling on them was fantastic, they were comfortable to wear for long periods, had a long battery life, charged quickly, and sounded pretty good. The XM6s are an improvement in most ways. They have more of a crisp high end to them without requiring you to mess around with the EQ, the noise canceling is only marginally better but that improvement can become apparent in the right circumstances, and the build feels less flimsy where it counts. The biggest downside to them I’ve found is the fit can be kind of tight on my big head, which probably helps with the noise canceling, but they can be less comfortable to wear for longer periods of time.

Amazing noise cancellation. And sound.

Before this I’ve been using AirPods, Beats Studio buds and Corsair headphones to try and drown out the noise of my busy household, but these almost make it feel like not a thing is around me. Not to mention the sound quality, I know all the other earbuds and headphones I used before weren’t anything great but these straight up made me stop using my earbuds when walking to the store or when on a long drive (passenger).

Good sound

The music sounds so good and the battery life is not too bad. I noticed a few days ago though, that some of my music that played well on it, are no longer working well. I did get a 2 year protection plan, so let's see how that goes in case I need their help.

We are, however, concerned to hear about the recent issue where some of your music is no longer playing well. This kind of audio skipping or intermittent sound can sometimes be related to Bluetooth connection quality settings, especially when transferring high-resolution audio.
We would like to help you resolve this right away so you don't need to use your protection plan for a minor issue. We recommend trying this quick fix in the Sony | Headphones Connect app:
Go to the Sound tab.
Find the setting for Bluetooth Connection Quality.
If it is currently set to Prioritize Sound Quality, please try changing it to Prioritize Stable Connection.
This simple change often resolves unexpected audio playback issues.
If this step does not fix the problem, please reach out to our support team directly at https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=headphones. Our specialists can guide you through other troubleshooting steps, such as performing a software update or a full reset.

I slightly disappointed by the ios app because it has, IMHO, a lot of useless features. But if you use it inly for firmware updates - it is fine. Owned XM2, XM4, XM5 before buying these.

Those sounded incredible and my experience with them was great. Sticking with the Sony line was worth the cost of admission, so I bought the XM5’s which had just come out. After using them for a few days I returned them. They sounded incredible and much improved over my previous pair, but I hated that they didn’t fold down, plus it seemed the quality of the build was cheaper. I wanted to wait for the release of the XM6’s to see if they improved those concerns in any way, but in the meantime purchased the XM4’s to hold me over. Fast forward about 3 years to now and the XM6’s drop. Purchased them week one and as someone whose owned the XM2, XM4 and XM5 I can confidentally say that these are king of the hill to date. It seems to me if you had anything prior to the XM5, these have noticeable sound improvements and noise cancelling. If you have the XM5 previously, any improvement is not overly obvious to maybe a non-audiophile/obsessive. Maybe the hear through is better a pinch, but the noise cancelling, tuning, and overall sound is not vastly different. However, the build quality seems better and the folding is back. Recommend, that’s for sure, even with the $50 price increase.

Overall, a nice upgrade (But if I didnt lose my old headphones, probably would not upgrade). The quality of the sound and ANC is amazing -as expected from Sony. The gestures and controls are similar to other sony devices and intuitive. Pairing to the phone and devices are easy with the App. The case is now clam shell with a clip vs. with a zipper. Overall, good new headphones if you need a new one but not too much changes from the xm4
