My new favorite headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WH-1000XM6 Noise Canceling Headphones are premium headphones offering studio-quality sound. • Packaging – The headphones come nicely packed in a carrying case; however, I wish the carrying case had a zipper instead of a magnetic buckle as the magnetic buckle seems less secure. • Noise cancellation – The quality of the noise cancellation is outstanding, especially when used on an airplane. During my recent flights the external noise was completely eliminated which allowed me to relax and enjoy my playlist. Sony upgraded the noise cancelling processor to the QN3 which is reportedly 7x faster than their WH-1000XM5 model. • Audio – The audio quality is rich and balanced. I greatly enjoy listening to both music and audiobooks with these headphones. I also found the audio during calls to be clear and easy to understand. There are several customization settings in the Sound Connect app including: o Ambient sound control – able to pick from noise canceling, ambient sound, or off o Listening mode – Standard (allows you to set the equalizer and DSEE), background music (sets music and other content to simulate distant ambience), or cinema (immersive content enabled by Sony’s 360 Reality Audio Upmix technology) o Equalizer – Heavy, clear, hard, soft, game, custom. It allows you to find your equalizer by giving you several different profiles to pick from while listening to music which can be saved to a custom slot. o Spatial Sound optimization – Measures the angle of the headphone placement to optimize spatial sound o 360 Reality Audio – Analyzes the shape of your ears for a more immersive experience as if you were at the performance. This requires you to allow the app to take a picture of each ear. • Comfort – The headphones are lightweight and fairly comfortable over long duration use; however, I did notice some discomfort along the top of my head at the center of the band after a few hours. • Battery life – These headphones have a long battery life lasting up to 30 hours and charge quickly with the included USB-A to USB-C charging cable. Overall, I think these headphones are great. They offer immersive audio and many features/customizations in the app. Highly Recommend!

Good Sound, Good Comfort, Good Features
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony XM6's have to be one of the best upgrades I've gotten. The noise cancellation is great, it feels comfortable even when wearing a mask or glasses, and being able to fold the headphones down help with portability. The battery life is great and it charges extremely fast. The power button and mode switch buttond are easy to locate, and being able to use multipoint connections is really nice. The ambient sound also comes really clear too and useful when listening in busy areas. The price is more expensive from previous generations though. But it is definitely superior than the xm5 in terms of usability. The build quality is claimed to be a bit sturdier aroind the hinges but only time will tell. Overall, they're solid headphones, with a few minor issues, but overall Sony is still at the top

We're thrilled to hear that your WH-1000XM6 headphones have been one of the best upgrades you've made.
It's wonderful that you're experiencing the power of their great noise cancellation and finding them comfortable even with a mask or glasses. We're especially pleased to know the portability (folding design), impressive battery life with fast charging, easily located buttons, and convenient multipoint connections are making such a difference in your daily use
We appreciate your candid note on the price compared to previous generations and are glad you find the overall usability superior to the XM5. We've certainly worked to incorporate user feedback into the design, including improvements around the hinges, and we hope they continue to serve you well for a long time.

Headband is Funky, But Great Headphones!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use these for work every day, I only have to charge them once a week. The battery life is great, and if I forget to charge them, I only have to go without for like 10min and then I’m set. They are comfortable and the audio pass through is great, I don’t have to take them off my ears to hear when someone needs something. The only things I dislike is they don’t seem to have noise cancelling calibration quite like the older ones used to. But the noise cancelling still works pretty well and doesn’t bother my ear drums like some noise canceling does. My only other gripe is the headband is made of some weird flexible material and if I do take a cup off just 1 ear then put it back on, the headband doesn’t really untwist and I have to manually realign both ear cups to make it straight. When it’s twisted like that it’s slightly uncomfortable and I have been told that it’s hard to hear me when taking a call, but only while it’s twisted, it I straighten them out I’m told I can be heard clearly again. The connectivity is great!

An Improvement from the XM4
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from the XM4s, the XM6's have a noticeable sound change that sounds excellent. Good overall balance of lows, highs, and mids. The battery is life is great since I can go a whole week without having to charge them and I use these all day long for work. But the biggest upgrade is the comfort. Coming from the XM4s, the comfort of the cushion and head rest is a nice upgrade. I couldn't wear my XM4s all day since after a while it would start to hurt my ears. I have thicker hair so having a headset that can actually fit my big head is a need and the XM6s do that for me. I skipped the XM5s since the sound quality of them was just very mid, but I liked the comfort of them. The XM6's have the comfort from the XM5s but way better sound quality. Overall I recommend them. You also won't be disappointed with the transparency mode either.

READ BEFORE BUYING
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After testing these headphones for about two weeks, here are the only reasons to consider upgrading from the XM5s to the XM6s: 1. Portability: If portability matters to you day-to-day, the XM6s are a clear step up. They’re foldable—unlike the XM5s—which makes them easier to store and carry. The new magnetic carrying case is smaller and more travel-friendly. Being foldable also means they can lay flat around your neck, something the XM5s can’t do. 2. Build Quality: The XM6s feel noticeably more premium and durable. They have a heavier, more solid build that suggests better long-term sturdiness. That said, I actually find the lighter design of the XM5s more comfortable for long listening sessions. The XM6s, while better built, are definitely more noticeable on your head over time. That’s it. Those are the only two reasons I’d recommend making the switch. If you’re wondering why I’m not listing sound quality, noise cancellation, or other features—it’s because the differences just don’t justify the $450 price tag. Yes, the XM6s offer slightly better sound clarity and improved noise cancellation, but the improvements are marginal. In fact, I sometimes prefer the warmer, deeper bass of the XM5s. The XM6s lean more toward a sharper, punchier bass, which may or may not be your preference. At the end of the day, unless portability or build quality are major priorities for you, the upgrade simply isn’t worth it. Hope this helps.

Solid headphones, but at a high price.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new 1000XM6 headphones by Sony are very sleek. They feature some new features this year over previous versions. The headphones come with a carrying case that closes with a magnetic hatch that closes with ease. I have taken a picture of the carrying case. There are several software options in the X6 like dynamic noise cancelling depending where you are. Sony took this a step further by implementing gps too. They use an example in the booklet showing how the headphones will get louder or quieter depending on location like a bus stop or sitting in your room. I’m not sure I am the biggest fan. I kind of equate it to how cars are slowly being taken over with similar software, but to avoid accidents. I personally find that I like to pick a setting and keep it that way until I consciously decide something else. The headphones come in 3 colors: white, black & blue. I have the blue variant myself. I can say it is a dark navy type color that if seen in certain lighting, looks black. As I stated earlier, I have had these Sony headphones before, the XM4. I loved how those felt over my ears. The 1000XM6 unfortunately doesn't feel as comfortable. The way the sides come down on the head and ear tend to feel just a bit awkward. First few times I put on the headphones, I had to repeatedly check if they were on the correct side. Compared to the XM4, when you put them on, you can tell immediately if they are on correctly or not. If you are happy with your current set, I wouldn’t honestly suggest buying these. At over $400+, the price is not cheap. Also, there is no IP67 here, in fact the booklet shows not to get them wet with spilled water for example, so keep this in mind. + Feels very sleek in the hand + Noise cancelling - Feels awkward putting on - No IP rating

I’ve got all the WH1000XM’s BB is whats impressive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headphones are good. Ive had the 1st gens to the WH1000XM5 before this. What I found most impressive is BB last mile delivery. I purchased on a Saturday night and my order was at my door by a gig-economy style driver by 2pm est that monday. They use a UPS service called Roadie and it’s impressive. I’m not saying BB is a better conglomerate than Amazon - but for this use case - I am. Now to the ear cones; the headphones case is way better. I travel a lot and mostly keep the cans on my neck through the flight process but its better than the MX5. They updated the app, no doubt for this gen of the hardware, but its got better UI/UX. The actual hardware is very similar but it does fit my fat watermelon head better than the 5’s did. Otherwise, connectivity has been better so far, but ive only had <12hrs. Im mainly impressed with BB and using UPS to get my package here in <1 business day — and we live in the sticks. Cheers.

The Best .
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones are the new benchmark for premium wireless headphones. They take the already industry-leading noise cancellation of the XM-series and pair it with a more refined sound, class-leading comfort, and a design that is genuinely practical for travelers and commuters. Should you buy them? Yes, if you are upgrading from an older model (XM4 or earlier) or buying your first set of premium headphones. The combination of best-in-class ANC, excellent sound, and a compact folding design makes them the strongest all-around choice. If you own the WH-1000XM5: The improvements are iterative but meaningful. The folding design and improved sound/ANC are strong incentives, but you can likely wait unless portability is a major pain point for you. Simply put, the WH-1000XM6 are arguably the best noise-cancelling headphones you can buy right now.

The only issue is that the Bluetooth connection frequently interrupts, which can be annoying.

We are absolutely thrilled to hear that you find the WH-1000XM6 headphones to be fabulous! It's fantastic that you love the audio, can wear them comfortably for hours thanks to their light weight, and agree that the sound canceling is the "real deal." The incredible battery life is also something we're very proud of.
We sincerely apologize for the annoying issue with the frequent Bluetooth connection interruptions. We want your listening experience to be seamless!
Please open the Sony | Headphones Connect app and navigate to the Sound tab. Under the Bluetooth Connection Quality setting, please select "Priority on Stable Connection." This adjusts the data rate to prioritize a rock-solid link over maximizing sound quality, which usually eliminates interruptions.
We hope this quick change allows you to enjoy your headphones!

Love these headphones!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these headphones! I have used both Apple and Beats products, and these are by far the best performing headphones I've experienced! I love that you can customize your listening preferences within the app. I have a few different settings for music, audiobooks, and gameplay. I love music, and I feel like I'm truly hearing the artist's vision and creative craft for the first time with these headphones. The battery life is really surprising too! I have only charged them once since purchasing and listen with them daily. I also wear glasses and these are some of the only headphones that sit comfortably on my ears and don't pinch my glasses or make my ears sore after hours of use.

The apple headphones killer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These headphones are way better than the apple. I tried using the apple but it just wasnt what i was looking for, these headphones got about 60 hour of battery, multi connections to devices that automatically connects to the devices your using (from pc, to phone, to ps5) theyre comfortable for small heads i belive they sell a bigger size but if you wear them too much they start to hurt. Only bad thing about it is that you gotta download an app to multi connect but there a lot of stuff you can do with the app like music will change the volume depending on where you are outside

Good, but good isn't good enough
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: calls are clear. Mic is excellent. Battery life is great. Easy to connect to phone. Transparency/awareness mode almost sounds like you're not wearing headphones at all. Neutral: ANC is fine. Hurts my head a bit. Sounds quality is fine. Not blown away. Turned on ldac and all the bells and whistles and can't find any significant improvement over my galaxy buds pro 3s. That said, my music streaming app is YouTube music so I'm not getting high bitrate or lossless audio. Cons: prolonged usage hurts. Wearing them for longer than 2 hours hurts. Maybe I'm just not used to over-the-ear headphones but the perimeter of my ear is in pain. I bought replacement cushions from wicked cushions which did help it go from 2 hours to 3 hours, but still hurts. I still haven't gotten used to how to fold them in order to put them in their case. It's been about 2 weeks now and I still have to be very mindful when I'm putting them away as there is only one right away to put them in the case. They feel so cheap. Yes they're light because they're plastic, but they're unmistakably plastic. Strangely flimsy plastic. Had to turn ldac off in order to maintain a stable audio connection. Otherwise it would cut out pretty often. The "hey headphones" gimmick is just a gimmick. On Galaxy buds I can just say next song, previous song, start music, stop music, volume up, volume down, etc. I don't have to start with hey headphones and then wait for them to acknowledge they heard me. The galaxy way makes it fairly easy to skip through 4 or 5 songs hands free while the Sony way makes me not want to use the feature. The touch controls are somewhat unreliable. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't.

Posted .Hi BojanD,
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback regarding your experience with the WH-1000XM6. We are pleased to hear that you are enjoying the call quality and the transparency mode, though we genuinely appreciate your honesty regarding the comfort, build feel, and touch controls. Please be assured that we will share your comments with our product team as we continuously look for ways to improve our headsets.
To help address the specific performance issues you mentioned, we recommend the following:
1. Improving Noise Canceling: To ensure the ANC is performing at its peak, please run the Auto NC Optimizer within the Sony Sound Connect app. This feature analyzes your wearing conditions and environmental factors to tailor the noise canceling specifically to you.
2. Touch Control Sensitivity: If the touch controls are not responding consistently, it may be due to a poor Bluetooth handshake. Please ensure your device remains within 10 meters (32.8 feet) of the headphones and that there are no major physical obstructions, as this helps the sensors communicate accurately.
3. Headset Storage: We understand that the folding mechanism has a learning curve. For a visual walkthrough on how to properly store the headphones without strain, please refer to our Help Guide: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/2984/v1/en/contents/TP1001856874.html

King of the Hill. Again!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After just one day with the Sony WH-1000XM6 headphones, I can already say I’m in love. These are some of the best headphones I’ve ever used, and I’ve already tested them out with music, a Zoom call, and a round of Call of Duty. I’ve got a trip coming up next week, and I’m actually excited to travel just to see how well these things perform in the air. Right out of the box, the sound quality blew me away. I listen to a lot of instrumental, acoustic, and vocal-heavy music when I’m working, and these headphones make everything sound super clean and clear. For example, I was listening to “Almost Home” from Gary Louris’s new album and the guitar in that song has this really warm and natural sound—like someone’s playing it right in front of you. You can even hear little things like the strings buzzing or fingers sliding which I never noticed before. His voice comes through really smooth and personal, not buried or too sharp. I messed with the EQ for a bit and while the “Heavy” bass setting is fun, I honestly think the default setting sounds the best. These headphones just seem to get it right on their own. I also tried out the “Background Music” mode, and it’s actually a neat feature. It sort of pushes the music into the background so you can focus without needing to turn it all the way off—great for when you're writing or replying to emails. They’re also super comfortable. They’re light on the head, and even though I have bigger ears and had to wiggle them into place a bit, they sit fine and I’ve worn them for hours without any soreness. The only minor thing is they sometimes slide down a little and rest closer to my jaw, which isn’t painful or anything—just a little annoying now and then. On my Zoom call, the voices sounded great and clear. I didn’t talk on the call myself (not really trying to be the guy in full cans on camera), but listening-wise, it was solid. Gaming wise, sound quality has never been my biggest priority, but I fired up some Call of Duty and could clearly hear footsteps sneaking up behind me. Definitely helped me stay alive longer than usual! (Which still wasn't long) Just the mechanics of using the headphones has been a great experience. The touch controls are fantastic. Best I’ve ever used. Big surface area, just the right amount of sensitivity. You don’t have to mash or guess—it just works. They even added a little nub on the left ear cup so you can tell which side is which without looking. Plus, the ANC and power buttons are shaped differently so you can feel the difference right away. That kind of attention to detail really shows. Overall, it's easy to see why the XM series flagships are always highly touted. Big win this year Sony!

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This holiday season I bought the Bose QC Ultra gen 2, Bowers and Wilkins Px7 s3, and the XM6. I returned the Bose and B&Ws, and I'm keeping the Sony's. The Sony's just do everything right in my opinion. The Bose sounded the worst by far even after being EQ'd, and I would say the PX7 S3 sound the best out of the box, however the Sony's can be EQ'd and sound great. Sony's ANC is significantly better than the other two with B&W being the worst. The call quality is decent on all three, but I think the Bose were the best in that category. In terms of comfort, I found the Bose are too loose and would slide on my head, which triggers the in ear detection to pause what you're listening to constantly. The PX7 s3 clamping force is too much and are heavier, so comfort is their biggest drawback. Sony's strikes the right balance between weight and clamping force, and they don't slide on my head. The Sony's and Bose are both comfortable with glasses. Sony's build quality is probably the most questionable of three and time will tell if they fixed the hinge issue like the XM5 had. Overall, the Sony's are definitely the most well rounded of these three that came out this year, especially for noise canceling and sound quality. I might have kept the B&Ws, if they weren't so tight on the head. I was just downright disappointed by the Bose.

Great pair of headphones to invest in.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great pair of headphones. Light weight, easy on the head grip, and customizable L/R tap settings. Noise canceling is 10/10, although these are my first pair of NC headphones. I work as a fisheries technician and I wore these during an electrofishing trip, which entails netting fish off a boat with a loud generator. Could barely hear the generator. The app, which is optional, is very helpful as well. Long battery life.

We are thrilled to hear that you consider the WH-1000XM6 a great pair of headphones! It’s wonderful that you appreciate the comfortable design elements, like the lightweight feel and easy head grip, as well as the customizable L/R tap settings.
We are especially delighted to hear about your experience as a fisheries technician. Putting the Noise Cancelling to the test during an electrofishing trip against a loud generator, and finding the performance to be 10/10—barely hearing the noise—is a powerful validation of our technology!
We are also glad you found the companion app helpful and that you are benefiting from the long battery life.
Thank you again for choosing Sony for your demanding audio needs!

Solid upgrade
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from the W4 to this model. I wouldn’t say that it’s vastly different but the changes they did make are appreciated. Love the noise cancelling. The new case and folding option. Battery life is fantastic. Build feels solid. I use this everyday for work and the gym. Connections between my iPhone pro max and Dell work laptop are seamless. The upgraded sound connect is good if you are into customization and tinkering with your electronics. The blue color does smudge up with fingerprints. That would be my only issue.
