Hi user117512, thank you for your feedback. We understand your frustration regarding the need to use the Sony | Headphones Connect app to control various functions of your WHCH520 headphones. Indeed, the app provides additional features and settings, such as updating the headset software, customizing the equalizer, and displaying battery charge levels.

However, it's worth noting that basic operations such as turning the headphones on and off do not necessarily require the app. You can do this directly on the headphones by pressing and holding the power button for about two seconds until the indicator light flashes. The app is primarily used for optimizing and customizing your listening experience but is not required for essential functions.

If storage space is a concern, you can feel free to uninstall the app after setting up and configuring your headphones according to your preferences. This way, you can save space on your device while still being able to perform basic operations with the onboard controls.

We hope this resolves your concerns, and we appreciate your input on making our products even better.

      Thanks for choosing Sony!

The worst part about this item is the app. Next to worthless, difficult to use what little is available. The headphones: not particularly comfortable. Sound is just ok. Disappointing for a Sony product.

Hi NobodyImportant, thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for any disappointment you experienced with the sound quality of your WH-CH520 headphones.
To help you get the best possible experience, here are a few things you could try:

-If you haven't already, you can use the Sony | Sound Connect app to adjust the equalizer settings. There are several presets you can choose from, or you can create your own custom sound profile to get the sound just right.
-Test the headphones with another phone or laptop to see if the sound quality changes. This can help determine if the issue is with the headphones or the original device.

Sony - WH-CH520 Wireless Headphone with Microphone in Black is a nice affordable Sony product. You get what you pay for and a little more with nice quality. Simple packaging that seems eco friendly with no plastic stuff and very recyclable, minimal contents – earphones, short USB-C cable and a leaflet. Absolutely budget friendly product by Sony – don’t expect HIGH end but this is a very nice affordable headset. These are light weight and very comfortable for medium daily usage. They have very good sound and good cushioning around the ears. They come charged and last up to 50 hours, can be changed for about 3 minutes that gives you 1.5 hrs. I’ve not run out of battery while using them and have only put them on the charger once just to get a full charge for usage. There is a built-in microphone that I have not had any complaints while using – this is great for hands-free . The volume buttons are located on the earpiece and they are very close together – have to learn which is which and tap the correct one 😊 The setup wants you to use the Sony app that referenced 360 reality audio – I didn’t care for this and did not follow through with setting up using this. It wants you to take pics of your ears to continue with it. That leads me to just how simple the actual set up was without using that app. Bluetooth pairing and setup was simple and I was able to connect my phone and computer for use at the same time. You are able to utilize Siri and google assistant easily while using them. These headphones are not totally noise cancelling but still good with limited noise interruption. You are still able to hear someone if they truly need you but in general good outside noise muffling. In my opinion, these are a very nice, affordable, and easy to use Sony headset product that I would recommend. Wish they would have come with some type of carrying bag or case, but still small enough and made well enough to throw in your bag without worrying about damaging them. Also, would have liked a longer USB charging cable as this one is just too short.

Hi kids2, Awesome! We are so glad to hear that you are happy with your new WHCH520! A listening experience just for you! Digital Sound Enhancement Engine (DSEE) restores the harmonics and liveliness lost during typical music compression, for a more authentic performance. You can even tailor music to your own taste with EQ settings on the Sony | Headphones Connect app, for a personalized listening experience.

Thank you so much for choosing Sony! -Carl Sony_US

First the pros- The Sony WH-CH520 Wireless Headphone with Microphone is a lightweight, basic, cordless headphone that is ideal for daily use. Aesthetically pleasing with thick, comfortable padding on the ear pads and headband it’s sizing provides a great fit for smaller sized heads/youth. They’re comfortable to wear with your glasses on, come partially charged and ready to use, and they can connect to 2 different devices simultaneously allowing you to answer your phone while connected to another gadget. The built-in microphone allows for hands-free calling and I was able to leave my phone and walk outside to the mailbox and downstairs into the basement without sacrificing sound quality/connection on the call. It pairs quickly and easily with the push of one button and when connected it prompts you to download the Sony Headphones Connect App that allows you to personalize the headphones’ settings. Both Siri and Google Assistant compatible, it allows you to use voice commands to control connected devices. A USB-C charging cord (10 inches long) allows for up to 75 minutes of playtime with only 3 minutes of charging, which is great when your headphones die unexpectedly. Sony advertises that these headphones support Swift Pair (connection via Bluetooth with a Windows 10 computer) and Google Fast Pair (which allows you to use Google’s Find My Device App to locate them). I personally did not test either of these claims. Now for the cons- at first I was confused by the lack of an instruction manual but there were pictures in the lid of the box they came in showing how to connect the headphones to your Bluetooth device. No case for storage is included but that is to be expected at this price point. The only way I was able to mute the headphones was by using the mute button on my phone. None of these issues overshadow the fact that these are pretty great headphones-especially for the price-point. I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for headphones that are wireless, affordable, well constructed, with a long battery life.

Save your money. Upgrade to something better. First it tries to trick you into downloading an app in order to use the headphones so it can track your data and everything you do. But you get around that and connect the headphones and the sound is absolutely terrible. It’s the worst sound of any headphones I’ve ever used in my entire life. I expected better from Sony.
