I've owned and have been very happy with the Sony WH-CH520's predecessor (WH-CH510), so I bought this headset for my wife. She LOVES it. Performance is flawless, and the price is right.

Tan TV headphones

I wanted them because I am hard of hearing so everyone else in the room can hear the TV at a normal volume

Thank you for reaching out. We're sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your WH-CH520 headphones and your Fire TV. It sounds like the headphones are staying connected to the TV even after you turn them off, which is preventing others from hearing the audio.
To fix this, you may need to manually disconnect the headphones from the Fire TV's Bluetooth settings after each use. A good tip is to go into the TV's Bluetooth menu and "Forget" the device. Then, reconnect them only when you need them. This should prevent the TV from automatically connecting to them every time.

Difficult to transfer to a new device-pairing requires instructions. There are 2 apps needed to execute set up. There’s no indicator light to know when the unit is on or off. I wish that I checked reviews over brand rep.

My only complaint is the difficulty in accessing and following the directions. I eventually called Sony customer service and they walked me through installation/activation.
