Posted .Hi EricF,
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience using the WH-CH520 for work calls. A "tinny" sound often occurs when the audio connection switches to the "Hands-Free" profile (HFP/HSP) to enable the microphone, which sacrifices listening quality for mic functionality. To improve this, please ensure your computer’s sound settings are set to use the "Headset" or "Hands-Free" profile for both the input (microphone) and output (speaker) during your calls. If you are still experiencing issues, performing a full reset on the headphones may also help restore optimal settings.
Thanks for choosing Sony.
Best regards,
Eliab

pretty solid
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.comfortable and really great! my only issue with them is that they don't get as loud as i would like but for the price its worth it. the battery life is absolutely phenomenal. i was traveling for two straight days because of delays and things and i never took them off my head and after all of that they were at 50 percent! took my ears abit to get used to them but after you do they get more comfortable. they may have some problems on connecting them when you are on weak internet but otherwise its all great. if you want cheaper headphones that sound nice and have a really long battery life i would 100% recommend these.

Affordable nice Sony headphones!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony - WH-CH520 Wireless Headphone with Microphone in Black is a nice affordable Sony product. You get what you pay for and a little more with nice quality. Simple packaging that seems eco friendly with no plastic stuff and very recyclable, minimal contents – earphones, short USB-C cable and a leaflet. Absolutely budget friendly product by Sony – don’t expect HIGH end but this is a very nice affordable headset. These are light weight and very comfortable for medium daily usage. They have very good sound and good cushioning around the ears. They come charged and last up to 50 hours, can be changed for about 3 minutes that gives you 1.5 hrs. I’ve not run out of battery while using them and have only put them on the charger once just to get a full charge for usage. There is a built-in microphone that I have not had any complaints while using – this is great for hands-free . The volume buttons are located on the earpiece and they are very close together – have to learn which is which and tap the correct one 😊 The setup wants you to use the Sony app that referenced 360 reality audio – I didn’t care for this and did not follow through with setting up using this. It wants you to take pics of your ears to continue with it. That leads me to just how simple the actual set up was without using that app. Bluetooth pairing and setup was simple and I was able to connect my phone and computer for use at the same time. You are able to utilize Siri and google assistant easily while using them. These headphones are not totally noise cancelling but still good with limited noise interruption. You are still able to hear someone if they truly need you but in general good outside noise muffling. In my opinion, these are a very nice, affordable, and easy to use Sony headset product that I would recommend. Wish they would have come with some type of carrying bag or case, but still small enough and made well enough to throw in your bag without worrying about damaging them. Also, would have liked a longer USB charging cable as this one is just too short.

Nice product at a nice price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony has long had a reputation for producing quality audio products--from the first Walkman in the 80s to a full product line of wireless in ear buds and on ear (cans) today at various price points to meet any budget. The Sony WH-CH520 product is the newest addition to the product line. MSRP is $60, but generally retails of just under $50, which makes them a bargain to get high end features. The packaging is minimal and does not include a carrying case. I don’t go to a gym to work out or regularly travel on an airplane, so I don’t need a traveling case. The included paper Reference guide is also very minimal. You need to download either an Android app or an Apple app in order to use MultiPoint. Pairing is pretty easy. The problem I’ve always had with MultiPoint is having three devices—Android phone, iPad Pro, and a Windows laptop. A QR code on the inside of the box can help with getting started. The first thing I noticed is how light they are compared to other on ear style wireless headphones. I’ve had the other higher end Sony’s before but they can become tiring to wear for long periods of time. There are three physical buttons on the right ear: volume up/fast forward, power on/off and pairing, volume down/jump back up. A tiny light provides charging and power status. The stated battery life is 50 hours, but I haven’t had them long enough to evaluate that. They come with a short USB A/C cable which is a little bit awkward to plug into my laptop. I ran through the ear shape test to try out the 360 audio feature. I listened to the Booker T & the MGs songs included on the Artist Connection app, but I honestly couldn’t hear anything different (other than the great music). Bluetooth 5.2 range is pretty normal. The sound quality is excellent; I tend to prefer music at a low volume anyway, so booming bass doesn’t interest me. The app has an equalizer with these settings: Bright, Excited, Mellow, Relaxed, Vocal, Treble Boost, Bass Boost, Speech, Manual, Custom 1, Custom 2, Off. Noise cancelling is achieved by the fit of the ear pads, there is no bult in active noise cancelling/hear through option. There’s no 3.5 mm jack if you need that (I don’t). I’ve been using them for video classes I’ve been taking on my laptop; they are great for isolation and focus. I turned DSEE setting to Auto, but I’m not sure if I could tell the difference. According to Sony, it’s for Digital Sound Enhancement “you can hear a rich and natural sound which is almost exactly like the original source.” The Sony app has more “stuff” in it than I really care about—earning “badges”, tracking your usage. Easy to ignore. But oddly enough, the app remembered the other Sony headphones I’ve used. Voices on phone calls sound normal, and no one complained (which often happens with other headphones) that I sounded funny or in a tunnel because I was on a headset. Overall, for an inexpensive set of headphones, they are very comfortable and have good sound. Multipoint makes it easy to switch devices. Yes, I would recommend.

Good sound in an inexpensive, light weight package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony's WH-CH520 wireless headphone offers good sound and performance at an attractive price point. I consider these to be an entry-level product for Sony. The overall construction feels adequate but not very robust. The headband, foam ear cups and controls feel like compromises to help get the overall cost down. Also, these headphones do NOT offer automatic noise cancellation (ANC) and are not water resistant so I consider their usage to be geared more toward quiet listening than as a gym companion. It is essential that you download and install Sony's Headphone app to setup and use the headphones. This is an umbrella app that is used with all of Sony's earbuds and headphones. It does require registration and some personal info at installation. Once installed the blue tooth pairing was painless. There is a "Voice Guide" that notifies you when the link is established and gives you battery charge status. The device's controls are located on the outer rim of the right ear cup and include power on/off and the standard play/pause/track switching you expect when listening to music. They also provide you with controls for handling phone calls. There are a couple of interesting features; you can connect the headphones to two separate devices simultaneously and switch back and forth. They also support Sony's 360 Reality Audio which is an immersive codec but is proprietary and only available on a limited number of sites as of this review. There is also a very interesting optimization procedure for this feature that walks you through taking pictures of both your ears and submitting them for analysis! There is also a very basic equalizer that includes a number of presets and also allows you to customize and save your own choice. The sound quality on these headphones is good, not great. They are totally listenable but you will notice the intrusion from outside noise and the bass is a little weak. Overall, if you are a fan of Sony products and would like a budget set of headphones this product deserves your consideration.

Posted .Hi JanT, We are sorry to hear that the WHCH520 did not meet all of your expectations. Please make sure to wear the unit properly and adjust the orientation of the left and right units so that each earpad fits snugly over each part of your ear. If you put on the headset without adjusting the slider, the headset may not be positioned properly on your head, resulting in discomfort.
For the sound quality, you can use the Sony Headphones Connect app to fine-tune your music! For more information on this, please check our related article link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wh-ch520/articles/00286844

Quality at a mid range price
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been looking for another quality set of headphones that are over the ear. I have many nice ear buds, but for longer term use, I prefer over the ear because of the comfort. I wanted something in this mid price range of good quality because I want to have a set at the office and leave them there. My older set of headphones I have been taking back and forth with me, but I'm tired of being worried they will get broken or lost in transport. I wanted sound quality, light, and from a reliable brand that I knew would work, and have software that actually does well with customizing the sound. I also wanted a slightly lower price point. This does it all. The app has many pre-sets, but I did custom and turned on the digital sound enhancement engine, and I feel like the sound is all around me. The instraments on many of my albums are delineated well, and vocals and be teased out also if you want. From classic rock to current pop and country all sound great. Classical does well also. The comfort in these is good, cover my ear fairly well and the seal is good pretty good. They are light, and secure also they fold flat to fit in my desk drawer easily. They did not come with a case or bag of any type, slightly disappointing, but not a big thing. All in all I do say you get what you pay for and these do not disappoint. I have low price point sets for my van and kids to use, they are good, but these blow those away in dynamics. The lower cost ones i find great for the van and even gaming for me, but if you want to have a mini theater experience or really hear music you are listening too and have the oustide world turned down, these can do it. I do recommend these to friends and family.

Great value and solid sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There’s a lot of competition in the sub $100 headphone market, and the Sony's WH-CH520 can hold its own. At a price of around $50, they are a real bargain. At this price, there is no noise canceling, and they use some electronic tweaks to improve the sound, but they are a sound value. They also work quite well for phone calls, and they do have multi-point connection ability. Quality-wise, these seem well-made, and they are very light and comfortable for on-the-ear phones. I haven’t had them long enough to really test the battery life, but that does appear to be quite good. These aren’t for audiophile listening but are great wireless headphones to use with a phone or tablet. There’s a Sony app to help with setup, and it’s how you access the equalizer and Sony’s “360 Reality Audio” feature (more about that later). When I first tried pairing them, they found and paired with my computer rather than my phone. After some unsuccessful mucking about, I deleted and reinstalled the app and reset the phones. After that, all went smoothly. The “360” effect is a little unusual. It must be set up in the Sony app and requires you to take photos of your ears for Sony to analyze. At that point, you find that it works with just a handful of streaming apps. Tidal was supported, but many of the most popular services are not. It does prevent the harsh left/right separation often noticeable with headphones or buds, but it’s also a bit over-processed for my taste. I found the “Clear Bass” feature is more useful. It has an effect more like a loudness setting, and doesn't tend to muddle the other frequencies. For good, everyday use and travel (if you don’t need noise canceling), these are a great choice. At the price, they are a solid choice and easy to recommend.

Worth the Buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had AirPods before this but eventually they broke down on one side of the ear. I was tired of the expensive cost of earphones and really didn’t want to spend lots on the same earphones. I came across these headphones when looking for a cheap alternative and honestly it’s worth its price. Even though it’s not ANC it still covers a good bit of noise. If you have a problem with headphones that don’t go over the ear then I would consider a different option, but these on the ear headphones don’t cause much irritation to my ears. The sound quality is good and if you download the Sony app you can tune it just to make it a little better for your tastes. The battery life is what it’s advertised to be, lasts very long and doesn’t need constant charging all the time. Portability is a bit of a problem because they don’t fold in, only the ear muffs rotate to lay flat so if you don’t like having headphones around your neck all the time then good luck. Other than that for the price of 60$ it is worth the buy for people who just need a cheap good quality headphone for everyday use.
