Good sound in an inexpensive, light weight package
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony's WH-CH520 wireless headphone offers good sound and performance at an attractive price point. I consider these to be an entry-level product for Sony. The overall construction feels adequate but not very robust. The headband, foam ear cups and controls feel like compromises to help get the overall cost down. Also, these headphones do NOT offer automatic noise cancellation (ANC) and are not water resistant so I consider their usage to be geared more toward quiet listening than as a gym companion. It is essential that you download and install Sony's Headphone app to setup and use the headphones. This is an umbrella app that is used with all of Sony's earbuds and headphones. It does require registration and some personal info at installation. Once installed the blue tooth pairing was painless. There is a "Voice Guide" that notifies you when the link is established and gives you battery charge status. The device's controls are located on the outer rim of the right ear cup and include power on/off and the standard play/pause/track switching you expect when listening to music. They also provide you with controls for handling phone calls. There are a couple of interesting features; you can connect the headphones to two separate devices simultaneously and switch back and forth. They also support Sony's 360 Reality Audio which is an immersive codec but is proprietary and only available on a limited number of sites as of this review. There is also a very interesting optimization procedure for this feature that walks you through taking pictures of both your ears and submitting them for analysis! There is also a very basic equalizer that includes a number of presets and also allows you to customize and save your own choice. The sound quality on these headphones is good, not great. They are totally listenable but you will notice the intrusion from outside noise and the bass is a little weak. Overall, if you are a fan of Sony products and would like a budget set of headphones this product deserves your consideration.

Good set of basic Bluetooth headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony WH-CH520 is an excellent basic set of Bluetooth headphones with a number of convenient features. The headphones come in a nice-looking box whose only meaningful contents are the headphones themselves and a USB type A-to-C cable that can be used for charging. The charging port and all controls are on the right earpiece. There is no usage documentation in the box, but there is a QR code that takes you to a web site where there is a quick-start guide and a more detailed user guide. The first thing I was glad to discover is that these adjust to fit my large head; I have had to return more than one set of headphones in the past that simply would not fit me. There is a downloadable app available to help pair the headphones to a phone or tablet, but it is not really necessary since pairing can easily be done from the device’s settings in the usual way. The app is useful if you want to adjust the balance or tuning, and to update the firmware if necessary. One welcome feature is that the headphones retain pairing information for up to 8 devices, which should be enough for most users. I paired them to my Android smartphone, Samsung tablet, and Windows 11 Surface tablet. It also supports two simultaneous connections, meaning that you could, for example, be watching a movie on your tablet and then answer a call that comes into your smartphone. The controls on the right earpiece consist of three multi-purpose buttons. When listening, these control volume, play/pause, and fwd/back track skip. When a call comes in, a button is used to answer and later hang up the call. Another useful function lets a double-tap on the center button bring up your voice assistant on your phone. I was able to use this to activate the Google Assistant and give it commands such as to launch my favorite music app. It also works with Siri but I was not able to test that. Listening to music brought home how much better headphones are in general than the wireless earbuds that I’ve been using the last few years, especially at the bass end of the range. I listened mostly to jazz and classical pieces; although I don’t have anything for a direct comparison, the audio performance is more than acceptable, and can be adjusted via app. I only have a couple of negatives on this product. It would be nice if there were a connector for a direct wired connection, which would be useful, for example, when flying. Also, the earpieces are of a size that they go right onto your ears instead of around them, making them uncomfortable – at least for me -- if worn too long. Overall, however, I would say that these are as good as any wireless headphones that can be found at this price point.

Punching above its price class
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, I generally prefer the sound of open backed headphones, but these closed backed ones sound very pleasant and sound a lot better than most of the competition in their price range. Upon first opening the box, you'll notice that Sony is continuing their pledge towards minimal waste. Pretty much everything in the box besides the headphones and charging cable are made of paper product and can be recycled. The charging cable is also nice and short, so you don't have extra waste and it also fits nicely in a gym bag pocket. The headphones themselves feel nice and sturdy while also being light weight. I've had plenty of wired headphones that weigh more than these. The buttons for the controls are firm and the 90 degree swivel of the headphones make them easy to pack. They also do about a 10-15 degree reverse swivel so they still fit comfortable on your head for almost any size. The headband has a wide degree of size ranges, fitting my monster sized skull, while still fitting properly on my fiance's smaller head. The cups themselves are a bit small for my taste, but it didn't feel like they were hurting my ears, they just couldn't get around the entire ear to seal on my skull itself. The only downside I found to these is that there is no rubber nub between the headphones and the u-shaped attachment point. That does mean if you're moving around a lot, you may here some plastic on plastic collisions. It's a small change that would have made a world of difference for active users. All in all, these are a decent set of headphones that won't break your bank and sound good while doing so.

Affordable with AMAZING Sony Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simplistic design, wonderful SONY sound. I noticed right away this was a bare bones packaging. No extra frills, or filler, no plastic etc…. The packaging is just enough cardboard to protect the headphones, and you get the headphones and charging cable. I really like how they lay flat, which makes for easy storage or traveling in my opinion. The ear pieces are not overly large so these are not exactly OVER the ear headphones. They fit on the ears but they don’t really fully cover the entire ear when you are wearing them/ Not an issue but just making sure buyers are aware the ear pieces are not going to fully fit around your ears. Which means outside noise can get in while listening. The right side has 3 buttons and the charging port. Charing is done with USB-C, which I fully appreciate. The right ear also has the mic for speaking or taking calls. These are good entry level headphones in my opinion. You get great SONY sound, at an affordable price. I am happy to let my kids play with them and use them with their tablets. SONY really did a good job of making these affordable but still providing high end sound from a low budget headphone. These also support 360 reality audio. To use this feature you have to download the mobile phone app and go through the setup on the app. You will be prompted to follow some prompts and take measurements of your ears. Which then allows the app to adjust the sound accordingly to your fit. I will try this feature out later. So with headphones users usually are concerned with how they fit, how they sound, and how long they last. I have already discussed the fit and sound so now let's talk about battery life. Manufacturer rating is 50 hours of continuous play and 200 hours of standby time. I am convinced these last a long time. These are bluetooth and easy to connect to any bluetooth audio source. You can get about 30 feet away and still stay connected. My only issue would be the size of the ear pieces as they do not fully cover my ears but the sound and battery life is fantastic. You will not be disappointed with these headphones.

They're lightweight, don't budge while I'm running or working out, and the battery lasts insanely long. I charged them for an hour when I first got them and 2 months later, they are STILL at 50%. It is actually insane to me. Best bang for your buck ever, totally recommend.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a bit of an optimist when it comes to many things. I always try to highlight the positives and not focus on the negatives. And this wireless headphone set by Sony made me wonder. I can't sit here and tell you there's anything poor about these headphones, but other than the battery life, I just can't really find anything it does particularly well or that stands out. It's simply average. A few good things that can be said is that the headphones are very light and there's no wear fatigue in the head or ear area. It even felt comfortable while wearing my glasses. But while they fit nicely with really no movement, I always ended up wishing the shape of the earpad were an oval-shaped instead of circular. My earlobes would end up dangling out which lead to some slight sound leakage. While the sound wasn't flat, I can't say it was robust or rich in any genre I tried. The connection was fast and tied to any device automatically provided I was signed into my email, which was nice. The best thing I found was the battery. The battery life lasts a nice while. It was long enough to last through my long evening podcasts. I even fell asleep with them running with plenty of battery left for the next day. Despite the average sound, I can see choosing these headphones if you travel and/ or will have spans of time before charges and need a set with long life without being a physical strain on your ears.

Pretty good; mic could be better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the most part, this is an excellent headset. It's comfortable, produces excellent volume range, and is easy to operate and connect. This is as close to plug-and-play as you can get. Extremely easy setup and excellent, strong Bluetooth connectivity. I connected to both my phone (Android) and computer, and the pairing process was effortless. I've had much more trouble with fiddly wireless earbuds than this headset. Strongly recommended for someone who wants an over-the-ear set that just *works.* Volume was robust and reproduced a lot in the audio range. These aren't studio headphones, so there is going to be a degree of compression and high+ and low- end loss, but audio quality is on the whole fantastic. The only minor gripe is the quality of the built-in mic. Obviously, since the mic isn't on an arm near your mouth, it's not going to pick up your voice as clearly as a headset with a dedicated mic arm. It seems, however, that Sony tried to compensate by boosting the pickup range of the audio. This headset mic will pick up stuff around you and broadcast it to everyone, and your voice won't sound as clear as it would on a headset oriented more towards voice chat use. Still, it works well given these limitations, and it's not as though anyone listening on a call won't be able to hear you. Strongly recommended as a wireless, over the ear headset.

Nice headphone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The WH-CH520,comes in well packaged cardboard box, No Styrofoam is a plus for me! In the box are the headphones, an aprox 6" long USB-C charging cable, user sheet and a paper/cloth hybrid cover wrapping the phones. Altgough they are not noise canceling, when music was playing I wasn't distracted by Spiderman on TV, which was turned up pretty loud. I chose jazz, Fourplay - 101 Eastbound, because of the deep bass and high notes. The music was very crisp and I'm not really sure if the sound was ATMOS or just surround but either way it was immersive and yep I am impressed. The sound quality when on a call was as good as the phone being to my ear. I never mentioned that I had on headphones to the caller and they never said anything about not hearing me clearly. The right side of the phones are where all controls are located. For music play/ff/back and for calls answering and disconnecting as well as the volume. I like them and can see myself using them on planes and in the airport or just relaxing while reading. They're very lightweight and comfortable to have on.

Great Headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like these wireless headphones. I am not a fan of earbuds since they either fall out or hurt my ears. These Sony Wireless headphones are extremely comfortable and light weight. They hooked up to Bluetooth on my IPhone and the sound quality is very good. The headband is adjustable and the ear covers fit nicely on my ears but if you have huge ears, then these might not be for you. There was not an instruction manual so I needed to scan the the code to review the instructions. This annoys me since they included other pieces of paper & they could do a quick start with photos. The earphones charge with this extremely short USB-C cable and it would be much easier to charge if the cable was a longer length. They don’t totally cancel noise but only loud noise would tend to interfere. I am flying soon so I will see how good they are on a place. From a cost standpoint, these are very reasonable and are of good quality. Once charged, they are supposed to last for 50 hours so that is great.

Great for $40!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are great over-the-ear headphones on a budget. They're pretty good at canceling noise but not so much so that I'm oblivious to my surroundings (I wear them a lot at work). If you're looking for true noise cancelation, though, these probably aren't it. That said, the sound quality is great and they have a pretty good range before they start breaking up. I use them for several hours every day and charge them about once a week, but that isn't even necessary since they've never dropped below 50% charge since I've had them. Phone calls with these are easy and clear. The cons for me are that the headband sometimes slides forward on my head especially if I have my hair in a high bun and they can fall off pretty easily. This sounds weird but I wish I would've measured my ears before ordering because they are slightly small on my ears, so big-eared folks beware.
