BEST HEADPHONES EVER!!!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Take it from a headphone junkie, these are probably the best headphones I’ve ever had. Typically, I shy away from over-the-ear headphones, as I don’t usually find them very comfortable and too heavy and bulky. These headphones are lightweight enough that I don’t feel like I have a bowling ball on my head, but are sturdy enough, that I don’t feel as though they are going to break. The cushioning on the headphones is plumb and very comfortable. They also fold up nicely and are quite compact when folded. They come with a carrying bag, which is nice for traveling with them and ensuring that they don’t give damaged. Moving onto the sound quality - the sound quality is amazing. It is crisp and clear. The extra bass is very evident without being overpowering to the treble or the vocals in music. The app also allows for an amazing amount of custombility - from something as simple as an equalizer to controlling ambient sound depending on where you are, or my personal favorite is the surround option (VPT), where you can change how it sounds depending if you were in an arena, a club, an outdoor stage or a concert hall. The noise-cancelling is also amazing. I’ve used it in a number of different situations - from listening to music/talking a call in the house with my children and the TV to block out, to wearing them while riding a tractor to cut the lawn. They work wonderfully, without having to turn the volume all the way up. There are controls on the outside of the headphones to skip songs, control the volume and answer calls. Calls are very clear - on both ends. I was worried that I wouldn’t be heard clearly, but I took several calls and everyone I spoke to said that the call was very clear on their end. There is also a nice “muffle” feature if you put your hand over the right ear, where it dampens the sound - this was particularly nice when my kids insisted on trying to talk to me while I was testing them out. Overall, I would say these are the best headphones over - they are feature rich and comfortable. If I had one complaint, it would be that because of the padding on the headphones, they can get a bit warm. But I hardly count that against them, as they do so many other things so well.

Posted .Hi Abhishek,
Thank you for choosing and purchasing our Sony WH-XB900N Wireless Noise-Canceling Headphones.
While we are glad to hear that you like the sound quality, we're sorry to hear that your headphones failed to meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback regarding the microphone of this WHCH710N when used with a computer. We value your opinion and have taken it into consideration for future product development. One of the possible resolutions to the issue is by updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes.
Resetting and initializing the headphones may help with the troubleshooting.
To reset, press both the (power) button and the NC/AMB (noise-cancelling/Ambient Sound Mode) button simultaneously while charging. The headset will be reset. If the issue still occurs, after resetting please initialize the headphones.
Turn off the headset while the USB Type-C cable is disconnected and then press and hold the (power) button and the (play/call) button simultaneously for 7 seconds or more. The indicator (blue) flashes 4 times, and the headset is initialized. This operation resets volume settings, etc. to the factory settings, and deletes all pairing information. In this case, delete the pairing information for the headset from the device and then pair them again.
If the issue still occurs after troubleshooting, please contact us for better assistance.
May we contact you to help? If so, please email the below information to [email protected].

Ouch!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Straight out of the box I knew I would have to return these headphones. They were so painful. NOT noise canceling, poorly made
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the headphones for a LONG overseas trip with the sales promise this model did indeed provice noise cancellation. The headphones only provided slight noise reduction by being aroudn my ear, but noise difference was not any better, if not worse, than using my $20 pari of in-ear earphones I use at the gym. Want to return for refund -- held hostage by the Covid-19 lockdown. Don't even want to use them in my isolation.

Adjustments via the app make big difference...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality is very clear. Highs are crystal and not tinny. Mids are full and not muddy. Bass, well, there's a lot of it. Luckily, you can turn it down in the app, helping them sound more natural. But, it's nice to have the option (or know these possess the capability) to add all the bass you could want in a closed back, noise-cancelling headphone. Much like any EQ, you can mess with the levels to your hearts content and get these to sound precisely how you want. There's presets and 2 custom slots so that you can save one for your own preferred rock levels and another for your preferred hip-hop settings. Without messing with the levels via the app these would be a high 2-star to low 3-star set of headphones. Out of the box they've programmed to sound like BEATS. Just TONS of bass, and it's terrible. So please, download the Sony headphone app and get to tinkering, you'll appreciate these so much more once you do. Now, are they going to hold their own against some open back HD660s'? No, but those are a completely different style of can, and the XB900N more than holds it's own in the sound quality department of comparable sub-$300 NC offerings. Similarly; the noise cancelling is just about what you'd expect from a sub-$300 offering. It doesn't reinvent it at all, it doesn't eliminate ALL noise, nor does it let a lot through. It simply does just what it's name says; cancels noise. Where Sony has always had a leg-up on others is the controls and intuitive way you can interact with the ear pieces themselves to turn the volume up/down, skip tracks, etc etc etc. When it comes to this and noise cancelling, cup your hand over the right ear piece and it with automatically turn NC off and "ambient sounds" on, allowing you to hear everything around you. Very nice touch. If you do not want to do it this way, there is a physical button on the button next to the on/off that you can click through to access the NC on, NC off, and ambient settings. There is another level of detail in the app involving the noise cancelling; Adaptive Sound Control. You can turn this on/off and it will automatically adjust how much/little NC is being applied depending on your activity. Walking, sitting, working out, etc etc -- just be sure to go through the app and get it all set how you want it and be sure to turn the chime notification off. If you don't, every time if adjusts levels a little noise plays, stopping whatever it was you were listening to for a moment before resuming. Very annoying, but again...you can turn it off. Google Assistant/Amazon Alexa is a nice touch. Again, using the app you can set all of this up and either trigger the GA/AA via verbally saying "OK Google" or "Alexa/Echo/etc etc etc" but you can't use NC when trying to access either of them via the physical button; as it's the same one. Not a huge deal, but an annoyance all the same. They are also charged via a USB-C cable. Thank. God. It's about time companies started implementing this. I've been seeing it on the backs of monitors, newer desktops/laptops are including a USB-C next to standard sized USB ports. But, it's amazing knowing I can just keep my phone charger around and it will also work to charge these. (especially as the cable included to charge is about 8 inches long) So that is pretty much all the pros and even though I mentioned how great Sony was at the seamless integration of them into the earpiece, I'm still trying to get certain functions to consistently happen when I want them to. There have been times I've gone to adjust the volume and end up skipping a track. Or, I want to pause and it ends up going back a track. It isn't every time, but enough for me to notice. I don't remember this being an issue on my previous Sony's and they had a very similar (if not identical) layout. I don't know if Sony has adjusted the sensitivity, or the angle you move your finger, or what...but, something is a little different about it. Not a deal breaker, but I'll point it out all the same. Definitely recommend them if you're in the market for some NC headphones. Nice quality materials (even if they are plastic, it's at least nice to the touch), comfortable ear cups, solid Bluetooth connection every single time easily offset the one or two "issues" I mention above. And while this might read like a 5-star review, I feel like people throw those around like nothing. That level of review should be warranted for items that you're going to get an amazing amount of use out of for a very long time, or that are going to make you go "wow" or call a friend and be like, "you have to come over and check this thing out!" And while these are really great, they aren't *that* great.

Everything I want in a set of headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've heard good things about Sony headphones lately so wanted to give these a try. Starting with the build quality they are mostly plastic but the plastic and leather used feel pretty premium. They seem to be pretty solid but light which I appreciate. Supposedly these are a slightly cheaper version of the Sony WH-1000XM3 but I don't have a pair of those so I cant compare these to them. They also have sort of a slim factor to them compared to a lot of other over the ear headphones so they look great. On the head these may be the most comfortable set I own to date. I can wear these for hours on end without any issues. The touch controls didn't take long to get used to and they seem to work really well. I've had issues in the past with headphones connecting up after powering them off and back on again later. With these they connect up to my devices immediately every time so extremely reliable. Now to whats actually important here, sound. Out of the box I found them to be just a bit bass heavy for what I listen to so I made some adjustments to the eq settings in the mobile sony connect app and now they sound fantastic. I can't complain here because they are marketed as extra bass headphones but I do like that they let you make adjustments to them from the app. If you listen to more bassy type of music then you will be fine with the default sound profile. The noise cancellation works pretty well. There is a pretty big difference between it being on and off. Below is a list of pros and cons based on my personal usage. Pros: supports both bluetooth and nfc noise cancellation very comfortable includes headphone cord uses usb-c to charge folds up and comes with a bag has built in mic voice notifications for power, battery level, and settings long battery life touch controls supported by sony connect app Cons: usb-c cable is very short In the end they look, feel and, and most importantly sound fantastic. These are now my default go to headphones.
