Sony - WH-XB900N Wireless Noise Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones are the best pair of headphones I have ever experienced. The sound is amazing with crystal clear highs and rich thumping lows. I previously had the Sony - WH-CH700N Wireless Noise Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones, and although those are quite nice, this pair is a definite upgrade! The noise cancellation is much better with these, and can be adjusted from full noise cancellation where you literally hear nothing around you to dynamic ambient sound that lets you hear a mixture of the ambient sounds around you, so if you want to hear traffic while walking or people talking around you you can adjust the ambient level from 0 to 20. The right headphone has several gestures that control music playback like turning the volume up or down, previous and next track, pause and play. The gestures also control phone call answer and hangup. One really cool gesture is if you cup your hand over the headphone, the sound will minimize and ambient sound comes through. When you take your hand away, noise cancellation settings resume as well as the previous sound volume. Volume level goes well beyond what I would listen to headphones at, so it should satisfy any taste. The Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa features are pretty slick. The button on the left earphone can be configured to either cycle through the ambient sound settings, or as either a Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa button. Pressing the Custom button quickly will tell you the time and read you any notifications you have on your paired device if you set it to read notifications. If you hold the button down for a couple seconds you can interact with your digital assistant. Setup is easy using the software that can be downloaded to your phone or tablet. The Sony Headphones Connect app lets you control all the settings of your headphones from noise cancellation / ambient sound, EQ settings, surround sound and sound positioning settings, notifications, power off timer, and how the Custom button works. You can tailor the sound any way you like it with preset EQ selections, or set up your own custom EQ settings and save them to a couple custom slots in the preset selection list. Comfort is a 10 of 10 with these headphones. The ear cups are very soft like cotton that conforms to the entire area of your skin. This is one reason the sound and noise cancelling is so great with these. Only drawback is because the seal is so good, the ears can get a little sweaty over time where the cup contacts the skin. Quality construction and feel all around. I have a fairly large head, and I had plenty of adjustment left if I needed it. The weight is really good... they feel solid, but I honestly don't feel anything but the ear cups when I'm wearing these. Usually I can feel the top part, but these sit so perfectly and have such soft padding on the top bar that it's like I'm not wearing over the ear headphones. The set comes with a 3.5 mm cord that lets you use the headset without Bluetooth or NFC, and works without any power to the headset, although the digital features of the headset won't be available without using wireless mode. Nice option to have when needed! Battery life is excellent, with up to 30 hours of playback time and a quick charge mode that gives an hour of playtime in 10 minutes. The USB-C cable that comes with these is very short, which is kind of strange, and there isn't a power adapter, so you'll have to use one from another device. Considering you're most likely going to be using these with a wireless device, not a huge deal, but again a little strange it's not included. The set comes with a carry bag for the headphones, which is nice for keeping the cords and headphones together. Definitely worth paying the extra $50 for all the features and sound quality you get with these headphones compared to the $199 set that Sony offers. Those are nice, but these are awesome! :) Well done Sony!

The WH-XB900N is Sony’s latest offering in its line of noise cancelling headphones. And one can say it is also a younger sibling of Sony’s hugely popular and arguably the best noise-cancelling headphones the flagship WH-1000XM3. That said, how would now one compare the XB900 to the MX3? The most obvious difference one would note would be the price difference of the two headphones which is $100. So obviously the XB-900 would have some features left out. Both headphones have generally the same design but notably the XB900 has an over-the-ear design whereas the other would have an around the-ear-design. For some this may be a big deal, but for me as long as my ears are comfortable, there would be no big deal. And the XB900 is quite comfortable. Being designated as an XB device indicates that the XB900 is heavy on the bass. And it does deliver! I’ve tried this for over a week. It also supports the A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP, SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC codecs. But surprisingly, the XB900 does not have the Hi-Res Audio seal like the XM3. And for those who are not really into bass, the music app can adjust the bass levels. The XB900 also does not use the highly rated QN1 chip, but nonetheless can compete with audio quality but supposedly cannot control air pressure inside an airplane. (I cannot attest to this as I haven’t been inside an airplane in years.) And like the flagship, both only support Bluetooth 4.2 which is really disappointing given that Bluetooth 5.0 has been around for some time. Both do support NFC. The battery life of XB900N like the XM3 is superb rated at 30 hours between charges. I have been using this headphone unit for several hours a week and I’m only around half of the battery life of this unit. The unit takes roughly four hours to fully charge which is a downer for me. But thankfully it has a quick charge mode via USB-C which can give you at least an hour for a 10 to 15 minute charge, enough for it to last until you get home. The controls of both units use touch controls which is a nice touch. But the XB900N scrimps on others such as it having carry pouch instead of a case and does not include an airplane adapter. Also the cable included does not have gold connectors unlike other Sony headphones. But so far, I haven’t seen anything really negative about the XB900N. As such I am still giving this a five-star rating and would recommend it to anyone looking for a bass heavy pair of headphones.

Build and quality are not at the level of Sony's WH1000XM3. I would say if you want basic noise-canceling headphones go for these. If you are more serious about noise-canceling abilities then upgrade to the WH1000X

That’s what she said. The microphone is better as a noise canceling agent than when used for phone calls.

Works great my son loves the feature that you place your hand on the ear phone and it pauses the music so you can hear your mom calling for you.

The technology of these headphones are great, but I would HIGHLY recommend getting Best Buy's 2 year accidental protection as these headphones are made out of cheap materials that WILL break over time. I'm currently looking at my pair that has separated at the lower headband piece wondering what to do after just being told by a Sony representative that it will not be covered by their warranty. The only option available was to pay additional funds to have a local service team repair them. Very frustrating and disappointing care for what many would consider a reputable brand.

Bought these for my son. He loves them. I got them on sale during the "Prime Day" sales that Best Buy had to compete with Amazon. Great value for $120!

Great pair of headphones I just wish that with all Bluetooth technology you could bypass the volume limitations they obviously put in place for hearing safety.

Nice headphones. Noise cancelling could be a little better, but for getting these on sale I was fine with compromising on that. Definitely recommend fiddling with the EQ settings in the app.

For audiophiles who listen to all kinds of music (Deathcore to Salsa, Classical to Drum N Bass, etc). Very well balanced headphones.

Like them. The microphone picks up my voice very good. Ppl claim they can't tell that I'm using them on phone calls. They do sometimes have problem connecting with my TV.

I'm not a particularly a Sony fan but these headphones are definitely good. My only only criticism is that Sony electronics is at the high end of the price range for almost everything.

I dont like this headphones are better my old ones, that why i return, i can't feel the bass, but if you want the best noise cancell this ones is for you.

Doesn't connect to more than one device at a time. This important because you will have to turn off bluetooth on your other devices before you can connect the headphones to another device. Have trouble connecting to devices in general. This is very annoying, many times I just give up, turn them off and go back to my cheap Taotronics. Poor noise cancelling. Sound is ok. Compared to my $50 Taotronics, in my opinion it is inferior. Sound is good but if you need good noise cancelling, you will have look somewhere else, or pay for more expensive Sony's.

Great headphones for listening to music and podcasts. Trust me, with five little boys running around, headphones are not just a luxury but necessity.

These were purchased as a Christmas gift for my grandson so am unable to rate other than he said he absolutely loves them!

Really good headphones, reliable. I wish when you plugged in aux you didn't need to power it on.

if u r in a quiet place it works very good depending if u are in a noisy area the equalizer will stop your music and it will beep constantly to adjust the music with the noise cancelling

I bought these after multiple attempts at getting headphones for work. No one could hear me on the previous ones. These are perfect!

Got these on sale to replace JBL headphones that gave out after only 5 months. Will they last longer than 6 months? Stay tuned. In the meantime, they do look pretty awesome.
