1st off the noise cancellation is not 100% efficient BUT it does help, only with loud noises (such as my dog barking) do I notice it doesn't block out but just about everything else it does. With that said, the sound quality is amazing. It surpasses anything I've used before, the EQ through the app is dope you can adjust the sound & bass to your liking but be warned, the base bass is already amazing so I'm sure bassheads would love this. I haven't had any issues during phone calls, I can easily walk across the house without losing signal, and the cushions are extremely soft. It can go about 14 hours or so before I have to charge for the night.

LOVE THESE HEADPHONES! I bought these as a replacement for a set of Cowin E7 Pros I got on Amazon. The Cowin's were TERRIBLE! They look nice and that is where the good comments stop.
These Sony's, however, are amazing. Easy to use, excellent sound quality & bass, superb noise cancelling abilities, light weight (for what they are) & very comfortable. It says they have 30hrs play time but I charged these once when I got them at the begining of December & so far they still say full charge! I have used them almost every day since I bought them. I really can't say enough good things about these.

Great features, great sound quality, bass hits nice and hard...(and also customize-able), very comfortable over the ear. I like the touch controls on the side. Everything about it is what I was looking for. I "test drove" several other brands at Best Buy... Beats, Bose, JBL, and Insignia,
Nothing compared to the sound clarity of these Noise cancelling Sony headphones, my son loved them so much, I bought him a pair for his birthday this weekend.

Out of the box I put these on and immediately loved the way they felt while on... They are lightweight, not too hot, and don't put a ton of pressure on my ears. I've been using the Bose QC35 now for several years, and I already like these way better. I used them while outside doing yard work and the noise cancelling worked great! Its been super hot out lately so I wondered how these would feel while on, but i noticed they are cooler, lighter, and put less pressure on my ears than the Bose. Music through these sounds great, and I love the controls on the side of the ear cup... no switches, just responds by touch. Overall I love these, highly recommended.

These are lightweight and slick, with tons of advanced features. Easy to operate with gestures and swipes on the earcup, with few buttons to navigate - very simple to control. Attention mode is awesome - you cup your hand over the right earcup and the volume pots way down, plus the mic kicks in so you can hear anyone or anything around you.
Super comfy to wear and long battery life.
And above all, the sound quality is terrific, beating any other headphones in the price range.

I had originally purchased the Sony XM4 with industry leading noise cancellation. However, although these were well put together and had a lot of bells and whistles the sound just wasn't there for me especially in the bass department. I returned them after a few weeks of use until I was sure these weren't for me. I then discovered the XB900N headphones that were much cheaper at full price let alone the sale price which was 50% off. At that price it was a no brainer. Sure their noise cancelling capabilities weren't as state of the art like the XM4 headphones but was still descent. But the overall sound is what I was concerned about. Not so much the noise cancelling. The XM4 sound was a little flat. These headphones have sound you can feel. Like the XM4 you can tailor the sound to your taste with the Sony headphone app. However, with the XB900N headphones the equalizer app seemed to have more control over the sound than the XM4 headphones. Especially in controlling the extra bass. Bottom line is I would pay full price for the XB900N rather than the sale price for the XM4s. I would have given them 5 stars but the touch control is a little hard to find the right spot to tap the sound on and off which can be a little annoying but it has the feature of placing your palm over the right headphone to reduce sound so you can hear when somebody is talking to you. Overall I love these headphones and if you can get them at the sale price they're a steal but worth the full price in my opinion.

I was looking for ANC headphones to help with creating a 'sound barrier' while working from home. I haven't ever had 'nice headphones' before and these were on really good sale so I decided to give them a shot. First off, the sound quality is so good. If you prefer bass that feels like it's shaking your brain, these will definitely make you happy. I have really enjoyed that aspect most of all, for these.
I think most people will probably find these pretty comfortable. If you have sensitivities to pressure, like I do, they may start to press after a little while. For me this usually occurs after a few minutes, and need to be adjusted, but it wasn't as bad as some others I've tried. The 'leather' feels pretty good, but can get a bit warm after a long time of use. I don't exercise in them, and I don't think it would be very comfortable in that regard. Build quality overall is ok enough. I definitely feel like the hardware buttons make some kinda clunky sounds when pressed, though, but no creaks or stuff that is overly noticeable or annoying.
The ANC is alright. They do a good job of passively blocking sound too so if you have music on it should be enough for most cases.
These do not allow 2 device pairing so you do have to manually disconnect and re-pair in order to switch devices. Not a huge deal but something to note.
The touch controls could be better, I actually had a pair I returned due to so many frequent mis-reads of the swipe directions I was trying to do- it seemed like they were malfunctioning. Turns out this is just maybe a flaw in the tech overall, as the replacement seem to register incorrectly a lot too. Definitely takes you out of the moment when you're just trying to turn up the volume and the swipe keeps switching tracks instead, could be user error but it seems to happen pretty often in any case. The xm4s do not have this problem so I'm not totally convinced its all me though lol.
The talk-through feature is really nice and does work every time. It would be awesome if it was able to be set to stay on instead of having to hold your hand over the earcup until you're done talking, though. Not a huge deal, just a thing I always wish when I'm using the feature to talk to someone for more than a few seconds or whatever.
The call quality on my end has been really good. I can hear people well through them. They said they can hear me but only if no other noise is happening in the room. The mics pick up EVERY sound so if there are any sounds like running water, rustling papers, wind, etc it will be heard loud and clear by the person you are talking to. I got these to use for work-related zoom calls and one thing I wish was better would be if it could remember my volume settings when I connect to my MacBook. The default mic volume is really quiet and I have to adjust it in the system settings every time I connect for work or else people cannot hear me. Again, not the biggest deal but it is just a thing I wish was different whenever I have to take the time to do it.
Ultimately I ended up picking up the xm4s on sale to try as well, and while they are much less bass heavy they are still really good, and they are pretty much superior in every other way. I'm keeping the xb900n but they are not my daily pair at this point. They are 100% the sound signature I prefer when listening to music for enjoyment but at work it is a bit overwhelming tbh and the additional features, enhanced ANC, and improved comfort of the xm4s make them a lot better for me for my work needs.
I think if you don't care about the more simplified feature set and just want a pair of decent headphones with awesomely heavy bass, these are a great deal if yoy can get them on sale- you'll be happy!

First of all, I researched numerous headphones before deciding to by these for my husband's birthday. With that said I will give you my husband overall happiness first followed by a distinct breakdown below.
He absolutely loves them. I tried to "borrow" them once and he who always shares, was VERY territorial! Ha! The sound is great, very comfortable. Excellent quality. The noise cancelling works too well. I frequently get frustrated trying to get his attention and he can't hear me. He uses them all the time. I am a student and need reduced background noise when I am in my office studying which is all the time. He uses them to watch TV in the living room while I'm in my office. He loves the sound so much that he doesn't like watching TV with our surround sound (that cost significantly more) when we watch a show together or when I'm not needing a quiet house. He would prefer to use these headphones instead.
Only complaint is in the pictures it give the appearance that the side lights up showing you where to tap or swipe for play/pause, fast forward/rewind etc., that is not the case. There is not any back light display to show you where the buttons are or any markings. You have to learn to use these functions by reading the manual and practice. For that reason I would give the design a 4.5/5 stars.
So, if I were to break down my overall ratings into categories it would follow as:
Comfort 5/5
Design a 4.5/5 stars
Sound quality 5/5 stars - custom set up designed to fit each person - really cool!
Noise cancelling 5/5 stars (and then some!)
Battery 5/5 - long lasting, fast charge and gives alerts
Overall quality 5/5

you get your moneys worth. I tried the beats studio 3s, the beats solo 3, Bose and all the other headsets in this price range or slightly higher and these Sony XB900N’s have better sound quality At a fraction of the cost. The Sony M3’s sound more crisp and refined but with a price tag of 275 I Had to pass as it was not in my budget this time around. As for these headsets you can adjust the Eq to your liking with the Sony app which I really liked. Want more high, mids or bass you can adjust it to fit the style of music you like. They sound great, crisp highs And mids with clear bass that won’t muddle the sound. As for durability, I will eventually see how long these last. They do feel light yet durable. I highly recommend these to anyone wanting a good pair of headphones at a low cost. The cost doesn’t justify its quality with these. Why they are cheaper than beats is a mystery, they sound Way better.

Affordable, lightweight, over the ears noise cancelling set of cans that are comfortable and give you a decent sound for today’s music lovers of hip hop and overdubbed bass sound (if you like jazz and classical music like me you have to spend 4-5X more to appreciate the analog sound recorded in the media, if the cans are wired even better and if the player has a good headphone amplifier then you’re in HiFi heaven) but since we are talking about this SONY model that’s half the price of a set of Beats who don’t cover your ears, this is a good choice.

I'm very happy with the XB900N's. One of the most important things for me was fit because I wear hearing aids and the ear cups are large enough that I don't get feedback. The sound is really good, so far I only like the sound of my Backbeat Pro's more. The app makes a huge difference. Yes, the bass can get thumping if that's what you want, but the app let's you adjust it from 0-10 and you can achieve a more neutral sound. Battery life is 4/5. I have other over ear headphones with better battery life.

Many people are comparing these to its predecessor: the XB950N1. I have had both headphones for an extended period of time, and I have to say, they are hard to compare as the designs of both headphones are completely different. The old model had an extra bass button and these do not, but the bass does not lack whatsoever, especially with the customizability of the EQ settings in the app. Sound quality is excellent, and noise cancelling is also top notch, though not quite at the level of the 1000XM4's. They fold in a compact design, feel very sturdy compared to the older model, and the earpads are very plush. I do have larger ears, and the only problem I encountered that after hours of use at a time, my ears would hurt a little as there is not a lot of space in the earcup and my ears will come in contact with the plastic which is annoying. However, I got mostly used to it now and it is not as annoying. Battery life is also phenomenal. For less than $150, these are an incredible value, and an incredible pair for people who love bass like me.

I went and tested out the 1000xm3’s and the xb900n’s. I decided to go with the xb900n’s because they felt more comfortable and the price was in my range. The bass is really present and I found that I had to bring it down in the app which is a really good app and is packed with features. The feel is more plasticy than the 1000xm3’s, but the build and quality is pretty good.

I was in search of a high quality headset for listening to music. I was on the fence with getting these or going with a set from Bose or beats. After listing to them in the store and doing a lot of research I set purchasing these. So far I love them, the sound quality is fantastic and has very powerful bass which I like. They are also very comfortable after wearing them for many hours which other brands have always gave me a headache or bothered me after awhile. Fantastic headphones for the price! The noise canceling feature does work, makes a small improvement but compared to more expensive pairs there is a lot to be desired so I wouldn’t buy these if your main feature was noise canceling but it is nice to have. Overall, I’m glad I grabbed these. High quality sound, great battery life, has a comfortable fit and is a good entry noise canceling pair.

My five year old Sony wireless headphones fell apart but I don't trust many companies with electronics so I had to get another new set. Since I listen to movies all the time via headphones as my wife works from home now and forever probably, I wanted good quality and I got it with these. The bass is beautiful but not overpowering. The mids and highs sound great, too. I have a cheap Bluetooth transmitter that did good with my old pair but with these, now it transmits in HD and just sounds absolutely incredible. Holds a decent charge, connects easily, really cool volume design although I do tend to sit with my hands behind my head and I accidentally press the right side too much, which turns everything way down so you can hear outside the headphones. Kind of annoying but not their fault I sit like that. There is a weird, almost vacuum like sensation when the noise cancelation turns on, but boy howdy, it sure does a great job.
A solid A! Built better and sounds better than my last pair. Thank you, Best Buy and Sony!

Best NC wireless headphones for BASS heads

I have been using this for almost a year now. As a bass head myself, I appreciate the clear and heavy bass that this headphone can deliver. You can tailor the level of bass via the app (see below).
I don't know if it will actually last 40 hrs of battery life, but it definitely lasts me a while per charge, and it's USB-C.
Pairing is easy and has a very stable connection. I can't attest to the reliability of NFC connection because none of my devices have NFC. I noticed when it's used a wired headphone and it's turned off, the sound quality is average. You have to turn it on to have the active NC enabled and it sounds much better.
This is by far the most comfortable over-the-ear headphones I have used. It's not light weight, but the soft padding makes it feel like you're wearing an on-ear headphone. I have quite a large head but it's still fits me perfectly and I can wear it for several hours without fatigue. The only time I have to remove it is when it will start to feel very warm around my ears.
The build quality is very good. I have not seen any signs of tearing around the headphone cup seams or creaking noises on the hinges when folding/unfolding for almost a year of use.
The programmable "Custom" button comes in handy when you want to switch from NC to Ambient sound mode and it will even call up the Google Assistant when paired with an Android device.
The touch controls are not that consistent especially the play/pause tap - you have to really feel the "center" of the right earpiece for it to work. The swipe up/down for volume and left/right for previous/next do work flawlessly.
The app that you must download to use this headphones has a lot of features. You can set the sound stage from Arena, Club, Outdoor Stage, etc. and also preset and custom EQ to suit your listening preference. There's even a setting to automatically detect NC and ambient sound level based on your location and movement (uses connected phone's GPS), or just manually change them yourself.
