The Sony WH-1000XM2 heaphones are a great way to listen to your favorite sounds. I do think they need to find a better name for them though, but besides that they are just about perfect. Fit is nice and snug and the ear cushions are very soft and supple and feel great on your ears. The headphones themselves are a bit on the heavy size, but even after a few prolonged listening sessions the weight didn't bother me that much. They are a bit on the large size too, but Sony has packed a bunch of features onto these things. Pairing up with my Galaxy Note8 was a breeze using NFC to pair it up. Pairing it with my laptop via BT was pretty simple as well. However, I was not able to pair it up to more than one device at a time. Another feature that would have been nice would be if the headphones told you what device they were connected to and not just say "Bluetooth connected", but if you only pair it to one device then you may not be bothered by that as much as I was...maybe a software fix could add that feature. The app to fine tune the headphones is fantastic. Very easy to use and has more settings then you can change a stick at. Adaptive sound control will automatically detect what you are doing and your environment and make the changes to handle that via Noise cancelling or letting you hear the outside noise. Very handy to stay safe while walking around, cars, people talking, ect can be heard to some extent while you are listening to your tunes so you are somewhat aware of your surroundings. The noise cancelling feature is pretty good as well. I tested them out while mowing my lawn and i could barely hear my lawnmower. The app has a noise canceling optimizer to fine tune that as well. Battery life is rated at 30 hours and I have no doubt that I will see pretty close to that mark. Touch features are also included in these headphones. The right side acts as a control interface that is easy to use. For example, you can double tap the center and it will pause your music, hold down on the center with one finger for a few seconds and the voice assistant living in your phone, I tested it with bixby and google assistant. Swiping up or down will adjust he volume and swiping forward or back will skip ahead or rewind your music. The best touch feature is being able to mute all sounds when you cover the entire right side with the palm of your hand, music is muted and you can hear the outside world perfectly, that can come in handy on an airplane when its time for your drink order. Call quality has been awesome as well. Overall, these headphones will not disappoint you if you get them.

I love my sony headphones. I use them for literally any chance I am able to. Some of the features that it includes is an ambient sound feature that uses the headset’s mic to pick up voices and subtle sounds like cars, but not in a bad way! This feature kills the “Extra” sound from the outside and makes things a little easier on the ears. The noise canceling feature is in my opinion why I chose these headphones over the Bose Quiet control, some people say bose has better noise canceling, but to be these are better. The headset also has a touch friendly earcuff that lets you scroll through songs, answer calls, toggle volume up and down, etc. AND has a outside noise speach features that allows you to listen to people talk by covering your right ear cuff entirely with your hand. Kinda makes you feel like a secret agent when easedropping haha. The only problem i have with the headset is that sony made a product that won’t connect to the PS4 as a gaming headset. The Aux cable provided by sony does not have a built in Microphone, so I had to buy one seperately to use for gaming VIA PS4. And that is pretty much the only reason why it loses a star. Otherwise it would be the perfect headset! 9/10

List price is expensive though these are top quality in noise reduction, holding a charge, audio quality, and comfort. They do get warm and damp over the ears for longer wearing periods. Nice hard shell travelling case is included. Best Buy sales person was extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

These are the best noise canceling headphones out right now. I’ve tried others like the new Beats Studio3 and Bose QC 35 II, and these sound the best overall and have the best noise canceling. When the noise canceling is on, this thing sounds really good and has just enough bass. You can hear all the detail in the music and block out the outer noise. There’s a Sony companion app for these headphones that let you customize the noise canceling and EQ levels. I use these headphones mostly in the gym and when I workout I feel like I’m in my own little world. No distractions. It’s also great for long travels with noisy kids or crying babies. Disclaimer: if your kids are dying, you won’t hear them crying for help because the noise canceling works so well when listening to your media.

Great ANC headphones. The sound on these are on the warm side but the bass overpowered some of the instruments and vocals a little. These are good for someone that wants more bass than the Sennheiser PXC 550 or B&W PX. I like the audio controls on the right ear up that allows you to skip/reverse and control the volume. Although I found it to be a little sensitive. When I tried to skip to the next song, it ended up raising the volume. So there’s some training needed to swipe correctly. I am not a big fan of putting my hand onto the right ear cup so I can hear the ambient noise or if someone is talking to me. In a way, I think it’s rude to have the headphones on when someone is talking to you. My natural motion is to take them off. These are on the lighter side as to not weigh down on top of your head. The materials used are pretty comfy and they fold into a smaller size for travel.

I was very impressed with the noise canceling feature. Touch controls work way better than expected. I don’t get accidental taps nearly as often as I expected, and it’s way more accurate than I expected. The sound quality is great and is very clear and crisp throughout the frequency range. They are very comfortable to wear for hours. I wore them for almost the entirety of a 9 hour car ride. Only thing is they can get a tad bit warm around your ears. Battery life is also very impressive. Overall, they’re great headphones, and are actually worth it a good bit.

Superb noise cancelling phones and excellent sound quality, very easy to set up with Bluetooth adapter. Very comfortable to wear and the battery life is superb. The only thing I wish is that they would make the buttons easier to feel and see. At night (which is mainly when we use these for watching TV without disturbing my spouse) it is difficult to feel the buttons to turn them on and off. Other than that these are the best headphones we have ever had. The ability to cancel the noise reduction by simply holding your hand over the ear phone is also a great feature.

I watched a ton of online reviews for the best N/C bluetooth headphones and pretty much everyone has recomended these and the Bose QC35's. I picked these up and they have great audio quality and a surprising amount of bass. My only 3 complaints are: 1. The volume should go a higher. I really like to blast my music and these do not seem to get as high as id like. 2. You can only have these paired to 1 device at a time which is pretty annoying. This may not bother most people but for those with multiple devices it is a pain to unpair and repair when using different device. 3. Still not using USB type C for charging which in 2017 is pretty dumb. (Yes I know all headphones are still stuck in 2015 when it comes to charging but when your paying close to $400 they should be future proof.

So I’ve been on a long hunt for wireless noise cancelling headphones I ended up settling with these. The app is easy to use and setup your headphones The headphones themselves perform very well. I took a trip just the other day and they cancelled out the noise Fairly well, but I don’t have a true comparison basis. Apple ear buds and other brand ear buds are all that I had prior. I didn’t read the directions well enough so it’s my own fault as to how to operate the touch panel on the side. Overall, sound quality is great, in my opinion, it did the job and was definitely more comfortable than my previous ear buds and or headphones Use would be for watching apple tv in bed (wife wants to kill me with tv volume) and travel

Great headphones, noise canceling is head and shoulders above Bose QC35 Mark II. Sound quality is also better. Even passive isolation is better than bose. For my head, these are super comfortable. The only thing that is bad is that these headphones do not support being simultaneously connected to two devices like the Bose or other headphones do. I have no idea why Sony has not included this functionality in the Mk2 edition of 1000X. I think I am going to return these and get the QC35 Mark II instead.

Feels very comfortable, sounds fantastic, and the touch controls work very well. The noise cancelling works like a charm, and the battery life is awesome. The Sony Headphone app it uses isn't the greatest, but you don't have to use it and for me personally I'm not missing out on much by doing so. Made the switch from buds to headphones and I'm very happy.

They are very nice sounding headphone, bass is decent and very crisp sound. It has some amazing features not found in any competition. I mainly needed it for casual tv viewing and gaming while my 8month son is sleeping, and they are more than what I needed it for.

These headphones are amazing, the sound and noise cancellation technology is great. I really muffs outside sound where you can enjoy your music or silence. One of the coolest thing is the Ambient Sound, where you cup the right touch panel and you can hear your surrounding environment noise because the Mic gets activated and plays the noise through the speakers therefore, you would have to pop one ear out when some speaks with you. I also like the headphone connect app, it allows you customize equalizer and it makes the music/video experience sound better. The build quality is stellar it does not feel cheap and the padding for over the ear is soft and can wear for long duration. The reason it did not get 5 stars: price, lack of app availability and eyeglasses pinch. Starting with lack of app availability; it is only available on Mobile OS. I primarily connect these headphones to my desktop or laptop computer work or personal. However, I can't download the app therefore, i don't get the cool equalizer configuration, which is disappointing because once you have experience that you want to continue experiencing. Unfortunately, it does not retain that setting on the headphones when connecting to other devices. Since, I wear glasses it does seem to pinch my frames to the side of my head. Over a long period of time it does seem to hurt. However, I have worn these headphones without glasses and I could wear these for hours. Also, you can get pretty hot with these headphones be wary in using it during hot days. As for the price, it just didn't seem justified to pay close to $400 (Unit price + 2 yr warranty + taxes) especially, when you play with the sound settings on the app and you can't get it on non Mobile OS. I had to return these headphones and I would have kept them is only they had the app on multiple types of Operating Systems.

Great Noise Canceling & Sound, Sensitive Mic

I grabbed a pair of these headphones since I am on planes regularly for work and was tired of regular earbuds/headphones that didn't ever keep out enough sound. After some tough decision making between these, Sennheisers, Bose, etc. I ultimately chose the Sony headphones. For the money they are hard to beat. The sound is much better than the Bose (No Highs, No Lows, that's Bose!) but more than that the noise cancelling seemed better at first. I also appreciate the touch controls on the right side and ability to temporarily allow noise say if you're answering someone or trying to hear something but don't want to pause audio (on a call even). My major complaints after using them for a prolonged period are: 1) The earcups get relatively warm. If you're going to wear for hours you'll likely need a break after a bit. 2) The mic is a bit sensitive, especially on planes. It's pretty frustrating since the air vents above seats tend to, if not aimed completely away from you (defeating the purpose) pick up the blowing and it is very annoying. I borrowed a co-worker's Bose and didn't notice the same issue. I've used these for calls a few times, and the mics are sensitive then too picking up any background noise or road noise with too much clarity to recipients on the other end. I suppose that's the purpose for it to be sensitive enough to help filter noise, but just something to be aware of. Overall I think I'd still grab the Sony set again (especially if they are on sale). I use them as my go-to headphones for listening to new music and if I really want to pick up lyrics/enjoy dynamic sounds, low end, etc. They're very good and have definitely been much better than my standard JBL or Klipsch headphones/earbuds for traveling.

I really wanted to like these headphones. They have so many cool features with the built in gesture swipes and the NC was really really well done, unfortunately after wearing them on a 2 1/2 hr flight they ended up making my ears sore and for that reason I returned them. This could just be a personal problem which is why I rated them 4 stars. The Bluetooth distance is really good and sound quality is pretty good as well. I wish they would have worked out.

Purchased these for mostly airplane usage and overall, they block the vast majority of unwanted sound and have very nice, clean sound through it. Battery life is unbelievable, they are light and comfortable. Can't give 5 stars as the app is clunky to use and doesn't pair with multiple devices.

Amazing sound, good build, long battery life but not amazing, good active sound canceling, allows sound it when you cover the cup, I love the swipe functions, beyond comfortable. Only downside is that it charges via micro usb which is ridiculous considering it’s $200. Just buy the 3rd revision of these and it’s perfect.

Great headset, comfortable, well-fitting, plenty of Bluetooth volume. The ambient noise reduction, onboard an AA flight, was 4* out of 5. I sampled the M3's in store, was sold, bought AND when I opened the package I discovered I was given M2's - 'accidently. I have returned thoes and ordered the M3's to be delivered to home.
