These headphones are amazing. As a neurodivergent person, navigating loud spaces is extremely difficult. That doesn't just have to be a grocery store or a park, but also sometimes the refrigerator or the air conditioning in my own home. The noise canceling function helps me focus on tasks and actually helps me see better because once I am not distracted by the noise I can focus more on what is in front of me. The sound quality is good, but not fantastic, and I find myself wishing it was a bit louder sometimes for when I do want to listen to something. Another thing that happens, though I'm not sure if this is just a problem with my face shape, is that if I turn my head sometimes the headphone "seal" comes open and I can hear ambient noise. This only happens every so often, but I thought it was worth pointing out. I have never had a problem with connectivity and the battery lasts so long (knock on wood) that I have only had to charge it a couple of times since purchasing them. The color is one of my favorite parts. Everything I own is blue, teal, or green, and when I saw that I could order these in my favorite color I was extremely happy. If you have a loved one or you yourself are neurodivergent and cannot cope with noisy environments, I highly recommend these headphones.

The headphones arrived today. The noise cancelling works really well and the quality of the sound is amazing. This is coming from someone who purchased and returned a sony xm4 ($350) because it seemed overpriced for what it offered. This headset has the sane noise cancelling chip as the $399 Sony XM5. Also very comfortable.

I’ve reviewed many earbuds and headphones from different bands in the TIN program over the past few years, and these are the best sounding for the price I’ve reviewed yet. They really sound good from the low end to the high. Clean crisp highs. Not tinny or harsh sounding. Nice deep low end and doesn’t sound muddy. You can set the sound to your tastes with the EQ in the app. The headphones come with USB-A to USB-C charging cable and a 3.5mm cable for direct connection to a device that has a headphone jack. One end is straight and the other a 90 degree angle. Pairing to my Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra was simple and easy. It showed up on the Sony app I already had installed that works with my Sony WF-SP800N earbuds I reviewed a few years ago. Pairing on my 9th Gen iPad with the Sony app went off without any problems. Some people reported that their headphones kept disconnecting and reconnecting. My S22 Ultra did that too at times. Music or calls, it didn’t matter. I know that other bluetooth devices can steal your connection, so I looked for anything else that’s paired with my phone and turned on. I found two things. My aftershocks and my Belkin speaker. I turned them off and no more disconnects. I’m not sure if there’s a bluetooth setting to stop that. I couldn’t find one. I didn’t seem to have that problem with my 9th Gen iPad but I can’t guarantee that you won’t with your iPad or iPhone. I also paired the headphones with a couple of Windows PCs that I have. No problems there either. You can also connect the headphones with the supplied 3.5mm cable and use it with devices with a headphone jack. Either with or without the headphones turned on. When turned on, you can use the active noise reduction and I noticed that it used the same custom EQ settings I had it set to which is a very nice option. The Sony app to control the headphones is very well thought out with lots of options. It can analyze your ear shape to optimize the sound and for the 360 Reality Audio option. You can switch the ANR on and off, and if you want to let ambient sound in, and the level. You can also set them up to automatically do this based on location and / or actions. All good stuff, but my favorite and, what I think is the most useful, is the 5 band EQ with 2 custom settings and Sony’s Clear Bass. I say this because some music apps lack any EQ control. Even presets. For example, I reviewed a pair of Yamaha bluetooth headphones. The app to control them is super basic. Not EQ settings at all. I compare these to them later in the review. Phone calls sound clear for the wearer and the party on the other end. I tried it both ways with my wife wearing the headphones. We both agreed they sound really good for calls.

Great except for the app that you NEED TO HAVE

I got these at the beginning of the year - so maybe 8 months ago - after my puppy ate my Beats. The beats were fine but they would make my ears really sweaty from the cushioning and sometimes my curly hair would get trapped in the outside seam and pull out some strands, so I was looking for some different headphones, preferably cheaper ones. I saw these and saw the good reviews - great price point for noise cancelling yada yada. Something i thought was strange though was that it was meant for "Apple and Android devices." I thought: how could head phones only be for these specific OS products? Here is what I don't see anyone talking about when they review these: you have to have this app for the full noise cancelling functionality to work. And for the life of me, it is such a terrible app. UI looks awful, and the worst part is even if your headphones have connected to your bluetooth, if you don't go in and click 'connect' it will kick you out of whatever you're listening to after 10 seconds. This to me is the most frustrating parts of wireless headphones. Getting ready to exercise or do a task, starting your song, and then getting hit with the "unpaired noise" and completing stopping your song or podcast. It's happened so many times and it is sooooo annoying. Sometimes it behaves nice and connects with no problem, and sometimes im staring at the UI waiting for it to connect. I don't think the functionality the app provides is worth having when the app itself is so badly designed. Funny thing is when ive connected them wirelessly to my computer with bluetooth, it connects off the rip. When ive deleted the app off my phone, the headphones wouldnt connect. So yes as headphones they're really not bad. Battery life is amazing on these and the sound quality really isnt bad either but wow the disconnecting thing is insanely frustrating

      Hi LauraA,

Thank you for telling us about your experience with your WH-CH720N Headphones. We're sorry to hear that you have an issue with the noise canceling feature of your Sony unit. We also value your feedback regarding the operation of the companion app.

The Sony Headphones Connect app is a utility app that helps you to quickly connect compatible Bluetooth headphones to your smartphone. After connection, the app allows you to customize audio settings with your headphones. And as long as your smartphone or mobile device supports an A2DP Bluetooth profile then it should work.

For more on What you can do with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, visit the help guide of our WH-CH720N here: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/2966/v1/en/contents/TP1000776844.html

You can use the noise cancellation (NC) function without playing any audio. You can change the "Auto power off" setting of the WH-CH720N with the Sony Headphones Connect app. This setting allows you to use your headphones without keeping your headphones connected to an external device and without playing music.

We do have separate article if the headphones won't pair with the device or won't connect with the device once paired on this link here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wh-ch720n/articles/00204611

I bought these headphones for my 8 year old granddaughter. At first, I was hesitant to purchase them as I thought this was more appropriate for a much older child or adult, however I am so glad I did. As it turns out, her parents are going through a separation which has been and will continue to be heartbreaking for her and her 5 year old brother. She puts these headphones on at night, in bed, so she can listen to classical, soothing music ( think Yo Ma Ma) in order to relax and fall asleep. This purchase was so much more than just another Xmas gift. It was a healthy coping strategy for a precious child whose whole world is being turned upside down. I am most grateful.

Awesome sound. Best NC options and quality. Great equalizer. Sooooo Comfortable! Easy setup with Sony App. Love the included cable and ability to connect via cable to airline audio when travelling. Now, I just wish there was a hard sided compact case that I can stash in my carry-on without worrying about damaging the headphones and cables . Guess I will find a brand X solution for now.

I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent sound of these budget Sony WHCH720N headphones. I have a pair of the Sony XM3 over the ear headphones and these sound even better. The major differences between these WHCH720N headphones and my old XM3s is there are no touch controls, they don't fold up, and they are much more lightweight. The control buttons on the WHC720N are simple. You have your power, NC/Ambient, volume up/down and your select/answer/pause button. Although they are lightweight, the build construction feels sound and they are comfortable on my head. The Sony Headphones app is full of rich features. There are several Equalizer presets but I set my own manually. The lows sound great from everything to hip-hop to electronic, to rock music. You can take pictures of your ears to optimize audio. The noise cancellation is adequate, and ambient sound is an option if you need to hear what's going on around you. There is an option in the app to connect to multiple devices at once. I use this when I'm working at the computer (listening to music), but I need to connect to my office phone at the same time for conference calls. I've used it for hands free calling and the mic and audio is good, no complaints. The bluetooth connection to my computer and phones is strong and there's an additional option in the app where you can prioritize quality or connection if it becomes a problem. I would highly recommend these due to the impressive sound, feature rich options, and lightweight portability.

Ive had these for about a month now and these are a great pair of headphones. I do wish they came with a travel bag or collapsed. I stick them in a cloth bag and toss them into my backpack to and from work. I got them because the office i work in has a bunch of chatty Kathy's that apparently never have any work to do because all they do is talk! The battery life is amazing, I listen to music and make calls 6 out of the 8 hours a day and charge them maybe once a week (depending on use). People can hear me clearly and i haven't noticed any issues. I personally like that i can still hear a bit of background noise. I like over the ear due to my industrial piercing, it doesn't hurt it.

I knew I wanted a pair of Sony headphones as I have heard nothing but great things, after doing my research I decided on the pair as they were a great price espically with the amazing sale Best Buy was having at the time. I have been using the headphones for about 3 weeks now and they are so comfortable and noise canceling feature (main reason I bought them) is so amazing and worth buying these headphones. I would recommend these for college students as the on/off noise cancelation feature is right at your fingertips.

The Sony WHCH720N Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones are a great set of headphones. These headphones are incredibly lightweight, they feel good on your head. I can imagine wearing these on a plane and actually falling asleep with them comfortably resting on my head and ears. Set up was easy. These immediately connected to my iPhone 13. There is an app called Headphones Connect, that walks you through orientating the sound set up for optimal sound. It takes pictures of your ears. There is some true quality sound coming out of these! It really immersve. Had to update the app and headphones immediately upon syncing and it took about half an hour to complete. They came with a good charge, and come with a usb charging cable as well as a 3.5mm adapter cord to plug into. Battery life has been good so far. I would love it if it came with a case or carrying bag. Looking at others in this category i think thats the only thing missing and is easily fixed by buying your own. Overall these are quality headphones with great sound. I'm glad to have them & will benefit from their use next time I'm on a flight.
