I wear them on walks and listen to podcasts, to bed and listen to a sleeping meditation, wherever whenever I need them. Sound is great but I'm not a sound expert. I'll buy them again because they do the work, I abuse them mildly and they are holding up like easy peasy, and they were a great price.

The ambiance feature doesn’t work, the noise canceling is non existent. They do hold a really good charge and they’re lightweight. The ear pads make your ears sweat thought. I wouldn’t buy these again.

There are few brands of headphones that fit me and this is one I am glad I bought. It has a short charge time, comfortable, and lasted me nearly 12 hours with half volume while doing paperwork and zoning out some of the more annoying sounds in life like a neighbors dog barking at odd hours of the night. The only gripe I have are the placements of the volume and ambience buttons being a little too close together while operating with them on my head. It is pretty easy to fat finger the wrong buttons and changing the song you were listening to or muting it. Otherwise I like it a lot.

You're spot on; the microphone on the WH-CH720N only works over Bluetooth. When you plug in the cable, the built-in mic stays off.
Regarding the noise cancellation, here are two quick ways to make it perform better:
-Ensure the ear pads are sitting tight against your head. Even a small gap from glasses or hair can let noise leak in.
-Open the Sony | Sound Connect app and make sure "Adaptive Sound Control" is turned off.
