    Not Worth Buying

I bought these headphones instead of the Bose QuietComfort 45 which I originally intended to buy. These headphones don't have good noise cancelling and the sound quality is very poor. They had an app that supports spatial audio but you are required to pay for them. It's not worth it.

      Hi IvyM,

We regret to hear that you are not satisfied with the headphones. Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. For optimum performance, make sure that the software version of the headphones is up-to-date (via the Sony Sound Connect app). It is also recommended to wear the headphones properly.

Sound quality may vary depending on the source content. You have the option to use the Equalizer/CLEAR BASS setting of the Sony app to fine-tune the sound quality depending on your needs. For more information, please refer to this link:

      https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/2966/v1/en/contents/TP1000776844.html

The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices. When the Adaptive Sound Control on the Sony Sound Connect app is turned on, the wearer's actions, like walking or running, are detected. The noise canceling function is automatically adjusted and the Ambient Sound Mode may be activated according to these actions. To make the most of the noise canceling function, turn off the Adaptive Sound Control, and try to turn on the noise canceling function manually when you need it. With the Sony app, check the setting of [Ambient Sound Control]. If it is set to [Ambient Sound], the effect of noise canceling is reduced. Set it to the noise canceling mode.

Your feedback about the supported apps of the 360 Reality Audio is also appreciated.

Buy the headphones, listen to Renaissance

I’m writing this review bc I’m listening to Renaissance (for the 163892615th time) and I can hear every layer of music on each track. And if you know the album, you can only imagine how much of an experience that is. It’s like listening for the first time all over again, I could cry. My headphones came on March 1st. I ordered them bc I was looking for practically-priced headphones that were still high-quality. I went with these headphones because they’re price-conscious and I trust the Sony brand. I was surprised by how light-weight they were. At first I was concerned that might be due to cheap materials but I’m sure the weight is intentional, I just didn’t expect it. So, they’re light weight, affordable, great noise-cancelling software, amazing sound clarity, impressive battery life (haven’t charged mine since the first) Only thing I’m not fond of is the headphones don’t fold for easy storage. My last set did so it’s something I’m used to. That was my oversight though. Safe to say Beyonce saved my relationship with these headphones, so buy them and listen to your favorite album with the most instrumentation and enjoy!

I've been using Sony headphones for a few months now, and they’ve exceeded my expectations in nearly every category. Whether you're an audiophile or just someone who wants immersive audio for daily use, these headphones deliver a premium experience. Sound Quality: The audio is crystal-clear with a well-balanced soundstage. Bass is deep but not overpowering, mids are warm, and highs are crisp. Whether I'm listening to classical music, podcasts, or bass-heavy playlists, the headphones adapt beautifully without distortion. Sony’s noise cancellation technology also works wonders—it effectively blocks out ambient noise, making them ideal for commutes or focused work sessions. Battery Life: One of the standout features is the battery life. On a full charge, I get close to 30 hours of continuous playback, and even a quick 10-minute charge gives me several hours of use. This is a game-changer if you’re constantly on the move or just forget to charge regularly. Comfort and Build: They’re lightweight with plush ear cups that stay comfortable during long listening sessions. The build quality feels solid and premium, with intuitive controls and seamless Bluetooth connectivity. Verdict: If you’re looking for headphones that combine superb sound with outstanding battery life, Sony delivers in spades. They’re a bit of an investment, but the performance and reliability make them worth every penny.

Good product for the price, especially since I got it on sale. Comfortable and lightweight. The ear pieces completely cover the ears and noise cancelling feature works well, although you can still hear noise when in very crowded places. I wish battery life would last as long as my old Beats Solo 3 but it still lasts many days which is good for long days of studying. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a case. Comes with a (very short) charging cable but not a charging cube. Would give it a 4.4 star rating if I could. In terms of connectivity, it can be difficult to find and connect to new devices but once it does find the connection, it stays connected unless told otherwise.

I recently purchased the Sony Noise-Canceling Headphones, and they have completely exceeded my expectations! The noise-canceling feature is outstanding—it blocks out almost all external sounds, allowing me to fully immerse myself in music, podcasts, or movies, even in noisy environments. Whether I'm traveling, working in a busy office, or just relaxing at home, these headphones deliver an unparalleled listening experience. The sound quality is incredible, with rich bass, clear mids, and crisp highs. The audio feels balanced and full, making every song or video sound amazing. The comfort level is also impressive; the ear cups are soft and plush, making them ideal for long listening sessions without discomfort. Additionally, the battery life is fantastic, lasting for hours on a single charge, and the Bluetooth connection is reliable and easy to set up. The sleek, modern design looks great, and the headphones feel durable yet lightweight. I highly recommend the Sony Noise-Canceling Headphones for anyone seeking premium sound quality, superb noise cancellation, and long-lasting comfort. They are definitely worth the investment!

I’ve been using the Sony WH-CH720N headphones for a while now, and they’ve been fantastic. The first thing I noticed was how lightweight and comfortable they are—I can wear them for hours without any discomfort. The sound quality is amazing, with clear vocals and deep bass that make my playlists come to life. The noise cancelation is solid, easily blocking out background noise when I’m working or commuting. The battery life is a game-changer—I’ve gone days without needing to charge, and the quick-charge feature has saved me more than once. Pairing them was super easy, and switching between my phone and laptop is seamless. My only gripe is the plastic build, which doesn’t feel as premium, but for the performance and price, I really can’t complain. Overall, these headphones are a great mix of comfort, quality, and features. Highly recommend!

Purchased these for my wife so she could listen to her programs on her phone while working or exercising. The headphones seem to have melted to her head since I never see her without them. They are incredibly light which was important since she's tiny and the battery life is amazing. The active noise cancelling is very good and with the over the ear cushions really insulates from outside distractions. I think she exaggerates just HOW good the noise cancelling is especially when I'm trying to get her attention, but it must be very good. I can watch a high action movie with her on the sofa next to me watching new clips and she's perfectly content. Overall, she loves them, and I'll buy another set as soon as these break or wear out.

These are the best hands down. I live near a busy Rd and it was horrible trying to sit on my patio and read without distractions and NOW I put these on and listed to my audio books or make calls. It blocks out the sound so good that I only use while I'm in a safe space. The quality is amazing and love the color options. The battery life is great also for those on the run. Can tell it's of lower quality because of the plastic feel, but I love the lightweight feeling. The sound is great, love the ANC as it truly blocks noise out. The cushions are very comfortable. I also like that there is no touch buttons - only true buttons to control volume, next song/prev song, ANC on/off, and power on. Color is beautiful. Can get the app to control EQ, etc.

Good for the price. If you pay more youll get better quality but considering the price i would say they are high end budget headphones. They are very comfortable and in that regard are better than their price. They are light weight and have good battery. They sound good too but if you have ever owned the more expensive headphones then youll notice the sound quality isnt as good ( but still good for their price range)

This is one of my top best purchases from Best Buy. I was contemplating the AirPod Max’s or these headphones and I’m genuinely so glad I went this route instead. The pads are pretty comfortable and I can wear them for hours. And speaking of hours, THEIR BATTERY CAPACITY IS INSANE. I’ve used them pretty regularly over the course of a month and I forgot to recharge them and they lasted so long. I’m very impressed. The noise cancelling feature is easy to turn utilize with turning on and off, and it’s quite simple and quick to connect my headphones to my phone or my laptop or other electronic items. I wish I got them in black instead of blue, but other than that, I’m tremendously satisfied with these headphones.

Sony’s reputation as a premium consumer electronics company usually means its products have prices to match. So, I was wary of their relatively affordable WH-CH720N headphones. You get what you pay for, right? But after using them for a few days those fears abated as I concluded they possessed a surprisingly excellent cost-to-value ratio in both sound quality and features with a few points deducted for awkwardly designed control buttons. The box opening sets the stage – it’s satisfying but not excessive. The no-hassle packaging is environmentally friendly minimalist but possesses a quality-feel too: break a paper seal, lift a tab and their lays your shiny new headphones ready to go. No charger is included since most everyone has a drawer full of USB chargers. (You can also charge via any USB on your computer). However, since these headphones incorporate USB-C for charging, a USB-C to USB- A charge cable is included in case your chargers are all USB-A. Also in the box is a mini headphone cable if you want to listen hardwired rather than wireless or your device doesn’t have Bluetooth but does have a headphone jack. Using the cable theoretically should raise the sound quality even higher sound since Bluetooth audio has its bandwidth limitations. Out of the box the headphones are ready to pair with Bluetooth devices. This is done either directly through your device or with Sony’s Headphone Connect app (iOS & Android). A QR code inside the box lid makes finding the app easy. (I use an iPhone, so my experience here is with iOS, but I imagine Android is similar). Using the app is optional, however, it adds a few extra features to the headphones like a user-configurable equalizer (presets are available too) and support for 360 Reality Audio for use with music services like Tidal or Amazon Music Unlimited that feature this technology. It also has what Sony calls “adaptive sound control,” which, as I understand it, tracks your location and surrounding to determine the optimal level of noise canceling. Personally, while I love tech, I’m not a fan of apps that track location. We all know why, manufacturers do this. So, while I briefly accepted terms-of-service so I could try adaptive sound control, I ultimately decided I valued the illusion of my privacy more than this feature and turned off location sharing. Everyone’s situation is different, and the adaptive sound control function is interesting, but it’s also not essential to enjoying these headphones. The build quality here is basic ABS plastic. On the positive side, this makes them exceptionally light and comfortable to wear. The foam earpads are a reasonable snug density, though it could stand to be firmer for longevity and eco-friendliness. I do wonder about long term foam compression here. For fit, they can be extended up and are highly flexible horizonally so they should fit almost any size head, tiny to ginormous, from probably 5 years old and up. Operation is simple. The headphones can be paired to multiple devices. The first device, presumably your phone, will automatically pair when you launch the app. Additional devices can be paired by pressing the power button for 5 seconds. The power button is on the left side along with the headphone cable jack and the USB-C charge port. The right side has all the user controls – volume up, down, mute. These double for forward, reverse, and, if you use Alexa, summoning Alexa by way of multiple presses or short press vs long press. Siri does not seem to be compatible as there is no mention of it in the app or help guide and I couldn’t get her to respond. The Bluetooth connection seems very stable. In my use – again, crowded urban environment, I never encountered static, hiccups, or disconnections. If these headphones have a design shortcoming it’s with these buttons. They are bunched tight against each other with minimum tactile feeling to differentiate them, something needed when you are pushing buttons you can’t see. They are also a bit sensitive. For the first few uses I would accidentally mute rather than change the volume. I even muted as I adjusted the fit. That’s a bit frustrating. Ultimately, muscle memory kicked in and I overcame this flaw, but that is a learning curve and one of the low points of this model. This could be a reason to not buy these for someone who coordination difficulties, hand issues like arthritis or carpal tunnel, or has partially numb fingertips. I can also see frustration controlling these headphones with gloves in winter. The features of these headphones though, not including the ones in the app, are impressive for the cost. For me, the battery life ranks first. It just doesn’t quit. Sony rates it as 35 hours, which I thought was crass marketing. But I soon recognized it as truth. The first time I used them the battery was at 60%. A couple hours later it only dropped a couple percent. Next I fully charged it to 100% and let them play non-stop from 5pm to 6am, 13 hours. When I awoke they were still playing, and battery was at 50%. By extrapolation then, which when talking about batteries is not an exact science, these should easily live up to Sony’s 35-hour battery life claim. That makes these perfect for non-stop listening on long flights or drives (the kids in the backseat, of course, not the driver). Tangentially related to battery life is figuring out how much battery is left, which brings up another great, really upscale, feature – battery-life-left-by -voice. When you first turn on the headphones a pleasant, realistic, female voice informs you approximately how much battery remains. And if you ever want an update just quick press the power button and she’ll give you the current estimate. This is so much more pleasant than trifling with an app or interpreting obtuse lights, like a cave drawing, for this basic information. Of course, if you prefer a visual indicator, the app displays this info too. After good battery life comes the need for fast battery charging. These headphones do not fail here either. It only takes a 10-minute charge to get another couple hours of battery life. I tried to find out how fast a 50 to 100% charge would take but lost track of time. An hour later it was fully charged but I don’t know when it topped off. Suffice to say it was quick. The other major feature here is noise canceling. It works great. I live in an urban area with lots of street noise from buses, beeping delivery trucks backing up, and such. These headphones eliminate all of that and make me think I’m working in a deserted village. Even when the headphones are set to ambient they still block out a good bit of noise even at low volumes. Audio quality, of course, is the most important feature of any headphone. Without that no other feature matters. I sampled a variety of music and video genres; rock, rap, classical, opera, stereo audio, Atmos audio (even though these are not Atmos headphones). I did this with the headphones connected to my iPhone and then again connected to my Mac in case these was a difference between source devices. (All of my listening was via Bluetooth rather than the included cable). To my untrained ears, the sound, including movie dialog, was clear and accurate no matter what was thrown at them. If the source material was recorded in an immersive codec like Atmos or 5.1 I felt immersed, even if it wasn’t the full potential of those sources. If it was recorded in 1960’s stereo, it reproduced that sound. It never tried to reimagine except when fiddling with the equalizer. A completely enjoyable experience. About the bass, because for many that’s key. If that’s you these are probably not the headphones for you. I would describe the bass reproduction here as “standard,” or “normal,”. Other’s might say that means weak. I don’t care for outrageous, brain shaking, bass. That gives me a headache. The bass is firm on these, as it should be, and you can “feel” it to an extent, but it’s not center stage and over the top and any attempt to push them that direction will result in distortion. That is my overview, thumbs ups and downs, of the Sony WH-CH720N headphones. Overall, they are excellent with a few usability flaws. My only other quibble with them is they don’t fold up which makes them awkward to travel with. It would have been nice if Sony at least included a travel pouch. There are folding models by competitors in this price ranged that do fold. And for frequent travelers that would be a reason to look elsewhere. For anyone else, these do a great job of filling the need of sounding great while being comfortable, affordable and full featured.

These Sony Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones offer decent noise cancelation, dulling outside noise even without music playing. They're lightweight, and the soft ear cushions make them comfortable for long wear. I bought them to cope with the incessant construction noise in my neighborhood, and they’ve been helpful, which I really appreciate. So far, the battery life has been good. The dark yet vibrant monochromatic blue color is gorgeous but subtle. Overall, I've found these headphones to be a solid choice for everyday use at an affordable price.

I like these headphones enough to get a second pair. They are very lightweight and pretty comfortable for using long hours although they could have larger cups. The noise cancelling is decent. I dropped a star for the negatives, and because I can tell the material of the cups will have to be replaced at some point since that type of material wears out faster than felt. But overall, these are better and more comfortable than about 5 others I tried, including Sony's higher cost wh-1000xm4 that were too large for my head. Battery life is excellent, as-is bluetooth connectivity.

If youre looking for all around good headphones this is it! Battery life (30 - 40 hours) is great! This charged by USB C and it charges quick. The sound is very good, Im no audiophile but I can tell you with confidence that these do sound very nice! These headphones also fit around my ears and on my head quite well. I can wear these for an extended amount of time without feeling any type of discomfort. Im also a big fan of the noise cancelation feature on these, its works wonders. The color is nice, I bought both the black and blue ones. Last but not least is that I can also use the 3.5mm headphone jack with these headphones! Super cool since most companies dont offer this feature no more! Id say the only downside is that these dont come with a case to protect them but thats me being nit picky.

Fantastic sound quality and excellent noise canceling! Lightweight, comfortable for long use, and the battery lasts forever. The blue color looks sleek - great value for wireless headphones!
