Thank you for your time writing this review. While we are glad you like your new Sony headphones, we're sorry to hear some issues that you are experiencing with the unit. If you feel that the sound is a bit muddy, please try some solutions below:
Make sure that the headphone software as it includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.
Check connections. When the headset and the transmitting Bluetooth device are connected via an HFP or HSP Bluetooth connection, switch the Bluetooth connection to A2DP with the connected device.
Try a different source to see if the muddy sound is present across all sources.
Set or customize the Equalizer setting on the Sony Headphone Connect app.

The noise canceling is good, the ambiente sound is not that good, they are comfortable, and the life battery is great I can use them all day for 4 days without having to charge it again.

We appreciate your feedback with regard the carrying case and app. You can use the WHCH720N headphones without connecting them to the Sony Headphone| Connect app. These headphones will still work as regular Bluetooth headphones and use them to listen music, make phone calls, and user other audio features. However, connecting the headphones to the app provides additional functionality and customization options.
