These Sony Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones offer decent noise cancelation, dulling outside noise even without music playing. They're lightweight, and the soft ear cushions make them comfortable for long wear. I bought them to cope with the incessant construction noise in my neighborhood, and they’ve been helpful, which I really appreciate. So far, the battery life has been good. The dark yet vibrant monochromatic blue color is gorgeous but subtle. Overall, I've found these headphones to be a solid choice for everyday use at an affordable price.

Good for the price. If you pay more youll get better quality but considering the price i would say they are high end budget headphones. They are very comfortable and in that regard are better than their price. They are light weight and have good battery. They sound good too but if you have ever owned the more expensive headphones then youll notice the sound quality isnt as good ( but still good for their price range)

This is one of my top best purchases from Best Buy. I was contemplating the AirPod Max’s or these headphones and I’m genuinely so glad I went this route instead. The pads are pretty comfortable and I can wear them for hours. And speaking of hours, THEIR BATTERY CAPACITY IS INSANE. I’ve used them pretty regularly over the course of a month and I forgot to recharge them and they lasted so long. I’m very impressed. The noise cancelling feature is easy to turn utilize with turning on and off, and it’s quite simple and quick to connect my headphones to my phone or my laptop or other electronic items. I wish I got them in black instead of blue, but other than that, I’m tremendously satisfied with these headphones.

Sony’s reputation as a premium consumer electronics company usually means its products have prices to match. So, I was wary of their relatively affordable WH-CH720N headphones. You get what you pay for, right? But after using them for a few days those fears abated as I concluded they possessed a surprisingly excellent cost-to-value ratio in both sound quality and features with a few points deducted for awkwardly designed control buttons. The box opening sets the stage – it’s satisfying but not excessive. The no-hassle packaging is environmentally friendly minimalist but possesses a quality-feel too: break a paper seal, lift a tab and their lays your shiny new headphones ready to go. No charger is included since most everyone has a drawer full of USB chargers. (You can also charge via any USB on your computer). However, since these headphones incorporate USB-C for charging, a USB-C to USB- A charge cable is included in case your chargers are all USB-A. Also in the box is a mini headphone cable if you want to listen hardwired rather than wireless or your device doesn’t have Bluetooth but does have a headphone jack. Using the cable theoretically should raise the sound quality even higher sound since Bluetooth audio has its bandwidth limitations. Out of the box the headphones are ready to pair with Bluetooth devices. This is done either directly through your device or with Sony’s Headphone Connect app (iOS & Android). A QR code inside the box lid makes finding the app easy. (I use an iPhone, so my experience here is with iOS, but I imagine Android is similar). Using the app is optional, however, it adds a few extra features to the headphones like a user-configurable equalizer (presets are available too) and support for 360 Reality Audio for use with music services like Tidal or Amazon Music Unlimited that feature this technology. It also has what Sony calls “adaptive sound control,” which, as I understand it, tracks your location and surrounding to determine the optimal level of noise canceling. Personally, while I love tech, I’m not a fan of apps that track location. We all know why, manufacturers do this. So, while I briefly accepted terms-of-service so I could try adaptive sound control, I ultimately decided I valued the illusion of my privacy more than this feature and turned off location sharing. Everyone’s situation is different, and the adaptive sound control function is interesting, but it’s also not essential to enjoying these headphones. The build quality here is basic ABS plastic. On the positive side, this makes them exceptionally light and comfortable to wear. The foam earpads are a reasonable snug density, though it could stand to be firmer for longevity and eco-friendliness. I do wonder about long term foam compression here. For fit, they can be extended up and are highly flexible horizonally so they should fit almost any size head, tiny to ginormous, from probably 5 years old and up. Operation is simple. The headphones can be paired to multiple devices. The first device, presumably your phone, will automatically pair when you launch the app. Additional devices can be paired by pressing the power button for 5 seconds. The power button is on the left side along with the headphone cable jack and the USB-C charge port. The right side has all the user controls – volume up, down, mute. These double for forward, reverse, and, if you use Alexa, summoning Alexa by way of multiple presses or short press vs long press. Siri does not seem to be compatible as there is no mention of it in the app or help guide and I couldn’t get her to respond. The Bluetooth connection seems very stable. In my use – again, crowded urban environment, I never encountered static, hiccups, or disconnections. If these headphones have a design shortcoming it’s with these buttons. They are bunched tight against each other with minimum tactile feeling to differentiate them, something needed when you are pushing buttons you can’t see. They are also a bit sensitive. For the first few uses I would accidentally mute rather than change the volume. I even muted as I adjusted the fit. That’s a bit frustrating. Ultimately, muscle memory kicked in and I overcame this flaw, but that is a learning curve and one of the low points of this model. This could be a reason to not buy these for someone who coordination difficulties, hand issues like arthritis or carpal tunnel, or has partially numb fingertips. I can also see frustration controlling these headphones with gloves in winter. The features of these headphones though, not including the ones in the app, are impressive for the cost. For me, the battery life ranks first. It just doesn’t quit. Sony rates it as 35 hours, which I thought was crass marketing. But I soon recognized it as truth. The first time I used them the battery was at 60%. A couple hours later it only dropped a couple percent. Next I fully charged it to 100% and let them play non-stop from 5pm to 6am, 13 hours. When I awoke they were still playing, and battery was at 50%. By extrapolation then, which when talking about batteries is not an exact science, these should easily live up to Sony’s 35-hour battery life claim. That makes these perfect for non-stop listening on long flights or drives (the kids in the backseat, of course, not the driver). Tangentially related to battery life is figuring out how much battery is left, which brings up another great, really upscale, feature – battery-life-left-by -voice. When you first turn on the headphones a pleasant, realistic, female voice informs you approximately how much battery remains. And if you ever want an update just quick press the power button and she’ll give you the current estimate. This is so much more pleasant than trifling with an app or interpreting obtuse lights, like a cave drawing, for this basic information. Of course, if you prefer a visual indicator, the app displays this info too. After good battery life comes the need for fast battery charging. These headphones do not fail here either. It only takes a 10-minute charge to get another couple hours of battery life. I tried to find out how fast a 50 to 100% charge would take but lost track of time. An hour later it was fully charged but I don’t know when it topped off. Suffice to say it was quick. The other major feature here is noise canceling. It works great. I live in an urban area with lots of street noise from buses, beeping delivery trucks backing up, and such. These headphones eliminate all of that and make me think I’m working in a deserted village. Even when the headphones are set to ambient they still block out a good bit of noise even at low volumes. Audio quality, of course, is the most important feature of any headphone. Without that no other feature matters. I sampled a variety of music and video genres; rock, rap, classical, opera, stereo audio, Atmos audio (even though these are not Atmos headphones). I did this with the headphones connected to my iPhone and then again connected to my Mac in case these was a difference between source devices. (All of my listening was via Bluetooth rather than the included cable). To my untrained ears, the sound, including movie dialog, was clear and accurate no matter what was thrown at them. If the source material was recorded in an immersive codec like Atmos or 5.1 I felt immersed, even if it wasn’t the full potential of those sources. If it was recorded in 1960’s stereo, it reproduced that sound. It never tried to reimagine except when fiddling with the equalizer. A completely enjoyable experience. About the bass, because for many that’s key. If that’s you these are probably not the headphones for you. I would describe the bass reproduction here as “standard,” or “normal,”. Other’s might say that means weak. I don’t care for outrageous, brain shaking, bass. That gives me a headache. The bass is firm on these, as it should be, and you can “feel” it to an extent, but it’s not center stage and over the top and any attempt to push them that direction will result in distortion. That is my overview, thumbs ups and downs, of the Sony WH-CH720N headphones. Overall, they are excellent with a few usability flaws. My only other quibble with them is they don’t fold up which makes them awkward to travel with. It would have been nice if Sony at least included a travel pouch. There are folding models by competitors in this price ranged that do fold. And for frequent travelers that would be a reason to look elsewhere. For anyone else, these do a great job of filling the need of sounding great while being comfortable, affordable and full featured.

If youre looking for all around good headphones this is it! Battery life (30 - 40 hours) is great! This charged by USB C and it charges quick. The sound is very good, Im no audiophile but I can tell you with confidence that these do sound very nice! These headphones also fit around my ears and on my head quite well. I can wear these for an extended amount of time without feeling any type of discomfort. Im also a big fan of the noise cancelation feature on these, its works wonders. The color is nice, I bought both the black and blue ones. Last but not least is that I can also use the 3.5mm headphone jack with these headphones! Super cool since most companies dont offer this feature no more! Id say the only downside is that these dont come with a case to protect them but thats me being nit picky.

I bought these to replace my old glitchy WH-1000XM3 headphones that finally kicked the bucket. I have XM5's for home use, but needed something decent and not too expensive to use at work in a loud dusty lab. These are pretty decent for the price! The sound is fantastic, which is what I was having trouble finding in similar headphones that boasted noise cancelling capabilities. These only have 2 sound modes as opposed to 3 on the "fancier" headphones, but I never actually use the full noise cancelling so that doesn't bother me. There is some sound that comes through on the noise cancelling setting, but it doesn't bother me, as I need to hear some stuff and don't like too much sound to come through. These headphones are really light compared to my fancy ones, which again is actually really awesome while I'm working. I don't get a lot of fatigue on my head, which is great because I'm wearing these for hours at a time. I haven't used them enough to test the battery time, but seems to be going strong so far!

I've had this for more than a year, and it's my favorite pair of headphones. It's comfortable, light weight, and the sound is great. Unlike another pair of Sony headphones, this one doesn't hurt my ear. I think it might be the way it's shaped, but I can wear this for hours on end. Great pair!! I'm actually considering buying another pair for standby!

I’ve been wanting a noise cancelling headset for some time “have buds but not a headset” and saw that Sonly came out with the WHCH720N Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones and wanted to give them a try. Unboxing and setting up: The headphones came in a nice Sony logoed box, very simple and recyclable, including a “very short USB C charging cable, an audio passthrough cable and instructions, “they kept it simple”. I installed the “Sony Headphones Connect” app on my S22Ultra and paired up the headphones “I did charge it first”, and the phone automatically found them and connected without a hitch. The app immediately popped up an alert stating that an update for the headphones was available, so I let that run before doing anything else. I was surprised with how many settings there are in the app itself, there’s even a portion of it for the 360degree sound function that has you take a picture of your ear “sort of strange” but well explained as to why. There’s also a lot of settings for the noise cancelling and how the headset will adjust the level of ambient noise that comes through depending on the environment you are in or you can take complete manual control. Using: I was very surprised just how light these are “right around 6.5oz”, which is way lighter than the A40s I have which are 14oz and so heavy I don’t use them very much, we also have Marshall Major IIs “on ear” and Audio Technica ATHM50XBTs, the weight is close to the 6.2oz of the Marshalls and lighter than the 10.5oz of the A/Ts. The ear cushions are very padded and soft, just the right amount of padding “for me”. Fortunately, the power/pairing button are on the left side while the rest of the controls are on the right side, this helps keep from hitting the power button accidentally. Now for sound quality, I’ll be comparing them to the Marshalls and the A/Ts. And as far as sound quality is concerned while using Bluetooth and the Sony app, you can tweak the Sony’s to sound better than of the other two, the Marshalls just don’t have the bass and the A/T while sounding great have no way to adjust the sound the way you like it plus neither have sound cancelling. As far as the sound cancelling go I was/am amazed how well it works, and when it’s enabled with no ambient sound allowed to pass through you will want to make sure your in an environment that you don’t need to hear what’s going on around you as you will barely be able to hear anything around you even with nothing playing in the background and if you have music playing you can pretty much forget hearing anything else. It’s pretty cool that it automatically sets the sound pass through when I go out for my neighborhood walk in the evening and it’s easy to hear oncoming vehicles or carry on a conversation with a neighbor without having to take the headset off, “neighbor was pretty impressed too”. I also tried out the built in Alexa and that works well, and the same as using one of the small Echo Dots, just say Alexa and then your command. We have some of our lamps hooked to smart switches and it was easy to turn them on/off with the headset. Can also ask to play music or and anything else you would ask your Alexa device to do, “well done Sony” Conclusion: If you want a really good set of “Over the Ear” headphones that have great sound cancelling capabilities along with a lot more features than most other headphones I’d look strongly at the WHCH720N’s. They are light, very comfortable, the sound is great once you tweak it to where you like “the App has a full equalizer” and lasts a very long time on battery “still at 60% after many hours of use between music, movies and making calls. Distance wise I was able to walk around our house and easily walked a good 40' away before there was any connection loss. I tested this while they were connected to my S22 Ultra. The only thing that I can find negative about these is the super short charging cable that’s included. I tossed that in my cable box and use my standard USB C long charging cable I use for my tablet.

These were my first pair of ANC headphones and they're pretty solid! great sound, ridiculously good battery life, decent noise isolation and an overall comfortable build that actually had me forgetting I was wearing them on occasion which is new for me as a video editor who spends hours in front of my computer with headphones on and experiences uncomfortable amounts of head pressure during longer sessions. I had a couple of problems with connectivity on my phone the first time I turned them on but it went away after i updated the companion app (which also provides audio customization if the out of the box sound isn't to your liking) and it was smooth sailing from there! Give these a shot if you're in the market for entry level headphones that won't break the bank and are actually a fun listen!

Best Buy offers great discount deals for my favorite tech. I love technologies a lot myself, and always find my favorite ones at great deals on Best Buy. The Sony noise cancelling headphone is amazing at affordable price. The noise cancelling feature reduces the majority of noise. The sound quality is highly detailed and rich. The battery is also lasting for many hours when I use it via Bluetooth, as stated by the description, “last up to 35 hours”. There’s also the complimentary Sony Headphone Connect App, allows for more personalized adjustment, in term of setting up bass levels, noise cancelling setting modes, Amazon Alexa voice, connect to 2 devices via Bluetooth simultaneously. I also love Japan’s Sony brand products for a long time as a fan, because of their longevity. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase, and will be a loyal customer at BestBuy for great tech discount deals. Whenever I’m in need of certain tech, I will go to Best Buy. Thank you.

I was between this headset and the Sennheiser Accentum Wireless. I can say I am happy that I chose this headset. The sound is great on it and the fit is good as well. It's battery life is amazing as well. Sure noise cancelling only has 35 hours but I don't have it on all the time so my battery life probably jumps up to around 40 or 45 hours which is insane. If you're on the fence about this headset, maybe wait for a sale as I was able to grab them for around $100

For the price, you can't get a better set of noise canceling headphones. The sound is crisp, they are very comfortable to use long term, and the batteries lasts a long time. Compared to higher priced products like Beats Pro, and Bose, the fidelity is not quite but almost on par. You won't be dissapointed

The sound quality is excellent with these deep bass noise along with strong mids really balance out of the sound. And I’m very impressed with the active noise cancelling as well. It basically eliminates all of the engine hum on a plane and gets rid of lots of low frequencies extremely well. You can use an app to fine tune settings which worked well for me although I didn’t really need to change much. Battery seems good but I haven’t tested it to the max. Pairing and connectivity has worked well, doesn’t switch as seamlessly as AirPods between my devices but has been as easy as selecting them in devices for it to pair up.

    A big improvent over CH700Ns

About 4 years ago I reviewed the Sony CH700N headphones and said it sounded better than 6 other BT headphones I had, but they were not comfortable for more than an album or so. Needless to say I've kept looking, and looking, and with 7 more set earbuds and 5 more over the ear headphones to consider I now have the updated Sony CH720Ns. They weigh a little less than the CH700's and are said to offer 35hours of listening.  I  understand they have improved drivers.  They have a similar feel on my head to the CH700Ns, but a little lighter, and that matters. Id's also say that the foam around the ears is a bit softer, and they are deep enough that my ears don't touch the inner drivers, which is what I think caused the discomfort with the CH700s.  They are much more comfortable and do a slightly better job of noise canceling.  I've found them much more comfortable than the CH700's but they still squeeze a little tight.  In addition I can use Alexa or to change volume (nice).  It also has an ambient mode so you can clearly hear the environment around you via a single button.  The 700's didn't have this function.  Several other headphones I've acquired recently have this feature in one fashion or another.  It's truly worth having if you're going to wear headphones around others.  Using these headphones on the telephone seems fine for the listener but still has the same tunnel sound I found on the CH700s.  The echo cancellation seems to work better, the CH700s prevented me from hearing myself talk and these CH720s allow my voice to be heard as I talk.  This is another improvement. Now how do they sound?  I tried to compare the two headphones (which BT I can't pair simultaneously (nor can I wear).  There is no question that the CH720Ns are louder. And the bass is better,  maybe deeper, or just tighter.  They are not as bass forward as I've found in 'B**ts' headphones, but at the same time these Sony CH720N's mids and highs are a bit firmer and louder than that of the CH700's.   I think that the CH720N's do a much better job of noise cancelation; I tried listening to both with my television on, and the external noise bleed with the CH700's was noticeable, where it was better with the CH720N's (but not perfect).  The ambient listening environment, where you turn off noise cancelation and "bring in" the external noises.  This allows you to hear what's going on around you.  I could hear the television on when my music was low enough, but over say 5 or 6 it had little effect.  Still this is a great feature.   Now to some music from Boston and Pink Floyd; The transition from "Foreplay to Long Time", has some great surround stereo separation, softly swirling from ear to ear.  The CH720s were deeper and more airy.  But I found the mid-range lacking some sort of complexity. The overall balance of the lows and highs on the CH720s was very good but  not quite captivating.  As "Smokin's" bass built the CH720s certainly get your attention but are not overwhelming.  Here the CH700's were not as captivating, lacking some thump.  Listening to the Immersion Edition of TDSOTM, the voices in my head in "Speak to Me (Live)" were surreal with the subtle background noises being heard clearly.  But the full open soundstage was somewhat missing. The girls in "The Great gig in the Sky'' sounded surreal.  I enjoyed the comfort and sound of the CH720s more.  That being said, the deep bass of Money seemed a bit muddled.  But after spending some time with Sony's HeadPhones App I found that via the 'Equalizer' I could either use their Bright mode or create my own custom mode, taking down the bass a notch and kicking up the highs, to give me a better balance.   The headphones also support 360 Reality Audio, which is another subscription service, to which I didn't have any subscriptions.  You can't get to these features from the headphone directly (that I could find). You need to access them from the phones 'Headphones App' and/or 360 Reality app.  But the best feature of the Headphones app is the equalizer, you can modify their sound curve from the app to your liking. One other touted feature is Google and Alexa integration.  Having both Google and Alexa I tried Google first, but the first instruction I tried (skip to next song) was not supported. It could handle volume up and volume down though.  Also when issuing voice commands, my other Google devices could hear my commands and they "won" over the headphones.  Maybe my understanding of how this integration is supposed to work is misunderstood.... but it's not explained anywhere in the "manual" or via the online Headphone app.  After many years I'd say this is a work in progress with too many features not supported.. I also listened with the wired connection and as expected the overall sound stage was much wider and the brightness of the headphones really shined.  Until I connected these headphones directly to my DAC I really didn't know how much  better the CH720s were (via my custom equalization). The headphones take 3+hrs to fully charge, in 3min you can add an hour of play time. They are a big step up from the CH700s.  And they are available at a very reasonable price.  I'm impressed they are not my best in my collection, but for the price they are outstanding, nothing less than $300 comes close.
