Very nice headphones.

I can have a conversation and not have to take the headphones off my head to hear or speak to anyone.

Good headphones but not 100% noice cancellation

If the effect of noise canceling is not sufficient, please check the following:
Make sure the noise canceling function is turned on.
Adjust the headset into a comfortable position.
The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
When the Adaptive Sound Control on the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app is turned on, the wearer's actions, like walking or running, are detected. The noise canceling function is automatically adjusted and the Ambient Sound Mode may be activated according to these actions.

The comfort alone is enough to talk about all day. You won't even feel these on your head. The quality of sound is also very impressive because I was always under the impression that you needed to purchase expensive headphones to get great quality.

Okay but probably not worth the price

You're spot on; the microphone on the WH-CH720N only works over Bluetooth. When you plug in the cable, the built-in mic stays off.
Regarding the noise cancellation, here are two quick ways to make it perform better:
-Ensure the ear pads are sitting tight against your head. Even a small gap from glasses or hair can let noise leak in.
-Open the Sony | Sound Connect app and make sure "Adaptive Sound Control" is turned off.
