Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been buying Sony since 1970. A reel to reel recorder, two wired headsets that lasted 40 years ( and still worked), currently a television and a DVD player. Two years ago I bought the previous Sony wireless for television. It plugged in and worked. Excellent sound at any distance. No power button or searching for a signal. Only one problem. I am very careful as another brand set had broken simply setting it down. After 18 months this Sony broke in the frame. That model rested the speakers in two cradles. All the stress was at the weakest point in the frame. The frame was a U channel of paper thin plastic. I tried to glue it but there was not enough surface. So a working $150 set is dead by design. Legally defects in design and manufacturing are covered by consumer law. This was not a defect, it was a design to break. I went to Best Buy to get another set of the same model, with a number changed. I was told this model WHRF400 was the replacement. Both models were on display. This model appeared to fix the frame problem. Also hanging on a post for no stress. First there are settings that are difficult to operate. Each time you use it you must turn it on. It had poor sound quality and a set of bongo drums playing in the background. The bongo was from the first use. Chinese water torture for your ears. Often the sound cuts out for a few seconds even when sitting still right in front of the television. The volume is almost impossible to operate without removing the headset. The previous model was simple. I change volume often, sometimes just to back up and hear a sequence of speech. I am 70 and have hearing defects. This model volume could only be located by using one finger to find a joint then locating the volume roller with another finger. Then my male fingers would not fit in the recess for the roller. I called Sony about the bongo sound. They set up to send me a way to mail it to them. They would replace the faulty headset; I would not have a headset for two weeks. Unacceptable to my roommate or my hearing. Best Buy sales said Sony also charges postage both ways. After two months I returned the set to Best Buy. I was going to exchange it for the same. The salesman said this new model is being returned constantly. I had bought the two year warrantee. Best Buy returned all my money including the warranty with the exception of about $1 prorated. Returned to Store Credit only. IMPORTANT: Buy the two year warrantee. I am now trying the Insignia model NS-HAWHP2. (Why so many letters?) It has better sound. One confusion is the input button. This set is designed to use either Optical input or the wire input. It is actually okay after you figure it out. A button on the headset toggles between the inputs which is displayed on the tower. A white bar at the top is the wired input. The same white bar on the bottom is the Optical input. This selection should only be on the tower not the headset. I expect some people have multiple sources and switch without getting out of the chair. The volume control is better, an Up/Down bar, yet not as easy as the older Sony. We have a problem Houston. Tech designers have forgotten how to KISS: Keep it simple stupid. Also please have sample people, over 60, read the directions and then have an English graduate correct the directions. My son has a Stanford English degree and a masters in Journalism from Berkeley. His job at a tech company was to write the operating manuals. Okay so a $130,000 education to write directions. Younger people may expect a product to break at 18 months. I bought a sewing machine in a cabinet, at Goodwill. I bought it for the cabinet. It had the original direction book. Guaranteed for 25 years. It is now about 100 years old and still operates, with the exception of some worn rubber roller parts which I expect can only be made with a 3D printer.

Great Buy for Quality and Performance
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I decided to try the Sony WHRF400 headphones based on products I've used in the past. This set of headphones has the necessary mechanics to listen to my choices in comfort with great sound, control and comfort. If there is an issue, it's that after a period of time, it can get uncomfortable wearing the head-set due to sweating. It's no big deal, but it is noticeable. I do recommend these headphones and find them easy to operate, provide quality sound and comfortable even after long periods of use.

Quality product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really like the quality of sound and ease of use. I wish the "top of your head comfort pads" were made sturdier, the cover on the pads tends to pull away from the headphones.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only one side worked. thought maybe it was my hearing. NOT. Easy to hook up to TV. Nice sound out of one earpiece. Went to Best Buy for help. I don't go to town often. Told me I was past return date & would not do anything. Have bought numerous items from BestBuy . Item Cost $119. Disappointed in Best Buy. Told me to contact Sony as it sounds defective!.Like Sony products. Don't know if I will buy at Best Buy though.

Cannot use these with my LG TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's probably no fault of sony but rhis is just to save the next person a headache. I was unable to use these headphones with 4 of the 5 TVs in my house because my televisions only have optic out and not an AUX port for the supplied 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable or RCA audio out. I have to return these in favor of wireless headphones with toslink inputs in the transmitter. If Sony makes some I'd gladly give them a try if they are similarly priced. The build quality on these seem nice. My advice. Check your TV to make sure they are compatible. Do not trust the word of the sales rep. The one 720p 15 year old TV in my house did accepts the analog cables included with this product but none of my newer 1080p or 4K. They were all designed for toslink cables similar to what is more common on sound bars. The limited time I did get to use them. They were pretty decent to be honest.

Able to hear better.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this head phone so I could hear the TV better due to my hearing loss. After getting the headphones I found that I could hear and understand what was on the TV without turning the TV volume up so loud. The headphones feel very comfortable and easy to use.

Neat Features but Quality isn't good for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Considering these are made by Sony, we were expecting better quality especially with sound clarity and especially for this price. Usually, you get what you pay for but in this case, you're purely paying for the Sony Name Brand. It does have some neat features such as a Voice Mode that cuts down music and special effects to where you can hear voices better and the battery life is pretty good. Outside of that, that's pretty much where the good ends. Though these are quite heavy, the design quality is poor and the padding started coming apart 3 months of basic use. The sound has too much interference and cuts in and out. Also, if what you're watching doesn't maintain a certain level of loudness, the headphones just cut out and shut down to save battery life. So if something has regular speaking or whispering, they shut down. Very disappointing. Have used worse but have certainly used much better at a fraction of the price. We don't recommend.
