My only complaint is the cord is way longer than it needs to be and gets on the when I am at the gym, unless I put it under my shirt.

That's definitely not the experience we want you to have. We would like to recommend some steps to see if the situation gets better. 1- You can try to lower the volume on the Sony Sound Connect app this will give you more control on how much volume you want . 2- Check within the sound connect app for the 'Equalizer' there you should have some pre-set audio settings you can try and play with to see which one fits your needs.
