A Must-Have For HT-Z9F Owners

The Sony SA-Z9R is quite a simple set of rear speakers for the HT-Z9F wireless soundbar and subwoofer. If you own the HT-Z9F and want to step your game up to a 5.1 surround sound setup, the SA-Z9R allows you to make that transition very easily.
Just like how the subwoofer from the HT-Z9F wirelessly pairs to the soundbar, the SA-Z9R rear speakers also pair to the soundbar, which means you only need to worry about providing power to each speaker. This makes cable management much simpler compared to traditional wired setups. Simply mount each speaker however you prefer, and then plug each speaker into the wall! While there are pairing buttons on each speaker, my speakers automatically paired to the HT-Z9F soundbar.
So how is the sound? From my experience, excellent. The best experience will certainly come from properly positioning your rear speakers. But once you have them set up, the rear speakers add a new element of immersion to your Sony surround setup. And the best part is how easy it is to integrate into your existing HT-Z9F setup.

Well it never paired to the Sony 7.1.2 so i don’t know how they sound. The Sony 7.1.2 doesn’t pair with any speakers from what I’ve been reading. I think it’s over priced

These speakers are a great addition to the Sony HTZ9F sound bar with wireless subwoofer. The sound quality is awesome, really filling the room.
Setup was easy. Plug in the power and access the HTZ9F on screen setup. These speakers connected automatically and with the on screen setup of the sound bar you can fine tune the output depending on distance away from the listener. Due to the placement of my right rear speaker I was able to throttle the output down so it wasn’t overpowering the other speakers that were farther away.
Running the speakers through a few sound demos, including the one on the DVD provided the sound is pretty immersive. I did find the rear speakers acting more like front speakers in some of the surround sound demos however I did fire up a recorded concert from my DVR and the sound was pretty awesome. The vertical surround feature fills the room and is available with a simple click on the remote.
I do think the price point for the soundbar and these optional speakers is a tad on the high side and for the price the rear speakers should have been included with the soundbar.

I purchased these to complete my surround sound system after I purchased my Sony Soundbar w/ the Subwoofer. I wound up returning them because they are only compatible with one style of Soundbar which I found to be completely absurd. Make sure that before you purchase these rear speakers you read the description. Sony really messed this one up in my opinion, they should have made them universal to work with all of their soundboard. What a disappointment.

Returned. These speakers would not remain connected and had intermittent low volume sounds at best. We had issues every step of the way, both with this product and mostly with the terrible service at Best Buy. Every form of customer service by this company is lacking. They cannot help their customers - I have been on the phone with the wrong people more times than I can count and the store DOES NOT call back when the national service issues a "call request". Just a terrible experience and will never purchase from Best Buy again once this mess is wrapped up.

I'd like to start off with the positive, the shell of the speaker looks very nice. Ok, next my issues with these. They are intermittent with audio. I read a few reviews noting this and went right past them as i figured something with 4.6 stars or something could possibly have some bad ones that get sent out but most are fine. I am now thinking that people that arent paying attention to what their speakers are doing. I am really disappointed. Also these speakers only work with one surround sound system which was fine for me because i had that surround sound system. Terrible product sony, i returned it. For the money not worth it.

The sound comes in and out on these as if it was out of sync. Tried to re-sync, and works good for a day then back to in and out. When they work it sounds good, but throws everyone off in the room when u try to watch a movie. These are going back

wireless rear speakers with a power cord

These speakers are pretty small so they can easily be placed on a bookshelf or table. They are wireless, so no need to wire them to your system. The downside is that they do require power, so they will need to be placed near an outlet. They can also be hung on the wall, but keep in mind that the cord will be visible on the wall as well.
They do pair easily to the Sony sound bar with wireless sub. They sound great and seem very well made. Keep in mind you may not hear them all that much because there isn’t always a lot going on in the background, so you may not notice much sound coming from them most of the time. If you watch movies, they will be more immersive, but watching network television you may not hear much.
If you are looking for a great pair of wireless rear speakers, then definitely check these out.

I am about to return them. I couldn’t be more unhappy. They randomly unpair from the sound bar in the middle of a movie or while playing a game, resulting in the entire sound bar going mute and the you have to pause the show, turn off the sound bar, and then turn it back on and wait a few seconds to resume. I had a Samsung tv and sound bar and I should have never left them. Really disappointed. For the cost you would think you are buying the best of the best. Think again. It’s just the expensive name

Incredibly Simple Operation, Good Sound Quality

Part of the reason for me deciding to get the Sony HT-Z9F sound bar was because of the availability of these wireless surround speakers. Honestly, there isn't much to say about these other than that they're incredibly simple to use, they have a good aesthetic that matches the main soundbar perfectly (and also feel very well made), and they sound good. The pairing process couldn't have been more simple; you initiate the add through the soundbar settings, plug the rear speakers in, and watch as the system comes together. Once they're paired, you're free to move these speakers to any location you see fit, which is the single largest advantage of these being wireless; all you need is a power source to plug them in, no wires to run across the room.
If you've sprung for the premium priced HT-Z9F soundbar, you'd be well served to consider these add-on surround speakers.

I purchased these rear speakers to complete my Sony ht-z94 soundbar setup. My living room isn’t large, and I continuously have problems with them cutting out. I’ve noticed it happens more noticeably when I’m watching content with Dolby atmos audio. This is why I don’t believe it’s an interference issues, like resources online talk about. I’m a Sony guy, all Sony everything in my home, but these speakers were a huge disappointment.
