The Sony XB-100 Bluetooth speaker is a 3.7-inch tall, .6-pound device that fits easily into the palm of a hand; it also has a woven strap for attaching the XB100 to your school backpack, a beach chair, or for carrying while walking or jogging. The outer surface is a textured soft-touch material available in about 7 colors that makes the speaker easy to grip: Sony claims it can survive being dunked in about 3 feet of water. I did not test that. Sony says it is made with partially recycled plastic and packaged without plastic. The XB100’s rubber onboard controls proved reliable, there were no issues in pausing, playing, skipping tracks or adjusting volume. It makes loud sound for a speaker that’s shorter than beer cans. Sony’s portable speaker had no problem filling any room with sound that is especially big on bass. In use with a paired Smartphone my friends noted how clear I sounded during phone calls when I asked if I sounded good. Sony details it gets 16 hours of battery life, which lines up with my use; I was able to use it for many days before it needed to be recharged. Sony supplied a 12-inch USB-C cable; there is no power adapter included so use an existing USB output phone charger. There’s a flap that covers up the USB-C charging port. This will provide some protection against dust, sand and water since the speaker is claimed to be water resistant. By the way, this device only connects to a audio source using Bluetooth, there is no audio input port for use with a stereo 3.4 mm cable from another source. That and the fact Sony omits a charger is my only demerit.

DON'T THINK CAUSE IT'S SONY IT'S GONNA BOOM..I BARELY HEARD THE SOUND ..HAD TO LEVEL UP ...

Sony's XB100 Compact Bluetooth Speaker has good sound for its size and price. It’s not the best sound, but for what it is, it's good. The sound quality reminded me of listening to an average factory car radio, but the advantage of this is that it's small and portable. The included strap means you can hook it onto your wrist or anything else (such as a bike handle) and take it. In fact, at a low volume, I will enjoy this both while walking and if I get biking again this season, probably listening to either the SiriusXM app or YouTube Music. This speaker is priced initially around the price of a decent pair of wireless earbuds, which in my opinion, makes it a good value. The speaker charges with USB-C, which for many people means they probably have multiple chargers available that will charge it in the house (a short cable is included). It can be used while plugged in. The power button turns it on and off. The first time it's turned on, it will immediately go into Bluetooth pairing mode. There is also an easy Bluetooth pairing button to pair manually. The pairing was easy. My phone immediately popped up a connect window with a picture of the speaker, making it a one-button press to connect to the phone. However, if you're in a public place, you may want to avoid putting it in pairing mode as someone unexpected might pair with it. A play/pause button is handy if you need silence (to hear a conversation, for example) for a little while. There is also a +/- set of buttons that raise and lower the volume.

It’s okay it goes as loud as you would expect for a small speaker.

As someone who is on the go a lot and also loves to listen to music in the shower, this speaker really fits the bill to satisfy me in both of those categories. The design of the speaker is sleek, low profile, fits in the palm of your hand (ok maybe if you have big hands), the buttons are easy to press and see and there is illumination for power and Bluetooth. Pairing was as easy as 1,2,3. I am pretty disappointed there is no functionality that is useful with the Sony app on iPhone. No EQ for the speaker, no firmware updates in the future, no special modes etc, it only offers volume control heh... As far as music playback goes, this is where I also doc some points from this speaker. It is pretty harsh on the high end and the bass is hit or miss depending on the song you are listening to. Songs with a bass with a thump will not sound great on this speaker. Some songs I have listened to on it produce a sort of plastic wobble noise when the bass hits and it sounds pretty bad. Luckily it is not on every song, but still, bass is bad on this thing, and highs too harsh for me. But, it handles well in the shower, no issues there, it does its job, the travel strap is actually a great addition too so I can hitch onto my backpack. For the price,size, and quality, this speaker fits the bill.

Not so good for the price, found a better deal online

This is a compact speaker that is easily portable and has great sound and features. The speaker has a usb type c port for charging and an indicator showing how much battery life is remaining. This compact speaker has a very long battery life - lasting around 16 hours. It easily pairs over bluetooth, or if you have an Android device you can take advantage of fast pairing. It is rated for dust and water resistance and has a UV coating to protect it from the sun. It is a great speaker to use outside and extremely portable. It has an adjustable strap to carry with or attach to something. The buttons are obvious and tactile - powering on the device, pairing, and answering or ending phone calls. The speaker can act as a speakerphone, using the built in microphone. I found this easy to use and had no problems with sound quality or the ability for people to hear me. Don't be fooled by the small footprint of this speaker, it has amazing sound. I was extremely impressed with the bass response. Music was clear and precise. It is easy to recommend this speaker.

Awesome Sound Quality! Connected fast and quickly, long lasting battery, and fast charging. It has a cool texture on the outside of it, and the color looks great. Nice bass and works great with my iPhone. Would definitely recommend this product.

Will not pair to devices, can't get it to work at all

The sound definitely isn't what they demonstrate in store, not very loud at all

I have been using the XB100 to listen to classical music and podcasts in my home office, walking around my house, and while out in my yard. (I prefer remaining alert while I’m on a run, so I haven’t used it then.) After charging the XB100 (for 4+ hours), it almost instantly paired with my iPhone. I have not bought a second speaker, so I can’t try pairing it with another one. I also have not tested out the length of battery life beyond using it several days in a row before recharging it. One difference from its predecessor is its surface, which has a texture that is visually unobtrusive but helps prevent it from slipping out of my hand. Mine is black, with the logo etched into it rather than printed white or some color. Although I don’t intend to test the XB100’s water resistance, I do appreciate that it’s rated as waterproof. I am not a serious audiophile, so I won’t try to discuss the XB100’s sound specifications and capabilities. I will just say that its sound quality is very good, despite the lack of any stereo separation. And, when it’s 10 feet away on a separate table, the bass notes still cause my work desk to vibrate. The one big drawback, which it shares with its predecessor, is charging it. It does not charge wirelessly, and it comes with a VERY short cable – less than 12” long. The cable is so short that I had a hard time finding an outlet in my house that was low enough to the floor or a countertop that I didn’t have to set the XB100 on something to keep from having it dangle in the air. There also was no power adapter, so I had to scrounge around in my stash of old adapters to hook it up. (Could I charge it from my desktop computer? No, the ports on my computer are otherwise occupied.) The only suitable outlet I found is in one of my bathrooms, very close to a sink – maybe I will end up testing its water resistance.

This is terrible, i would not recommend anyone getting this

I've been on the hunt for a solid compact speaker, and I'm happy I finally landed on this one. The sound quality is amazing for its size, the battery life is ridiculous, and the call quality is surprisingly really good with its included echo canceling. It's easy on the eyes with its form factor and the included strap is a nice touch that compliments its design. I definitely want to get another one for the stereo function as well, hats off to Sony for improving upon what they had before alongside punching above its weight.

Good value with quality sound . These speakers have a visual and tactile appeal. Another plus is they are water and dust resistant making them excellent for outdoor use.

Being a tiny speaker has its advantages with being portable and travel friendly. It also has its disadvantages lacking volume and a powerful bass. The good and bad thing about this speaker is that you have to buy more than one to sync via Bluetooth and create a surround sound effect. Let's look at it for what it's worth, the speaker has very simple controls and syncs to your phone with ease. It also plays a decent sound for it's size, not super impressive but it's gets the job done for a small room. Battery life is a crazy long 16hr, dust proof, water proof, built in strap to hook on bikes, strollers, gym bags, etc. Seems like the type of speaker you bring to the beach or picnic, buy only for your personal listening pleasure. If you want to liven up a party, you need a bigger speaker or get another one to sync together. They do NOT sync with other incompatible Bluetooth speakers, only the exact same one. I'm not sure who would buy this or why, not saying it's not good, I just don't see a scenario that would justify anyone buying it.

This bluetooth speaker is hard to compare with some of the other bluetooth speakers I have owned due to how fast it is to pare to my cellphone. I had my cellphone setting on my desk and the bluetooth was on already as I have things in my car that stay connected to it when I first turned the speaker on I was not expecting it to show up on my phone without going into the search feature but what happened was even with the screen on the lock screen it' popped up telling me that I could pare it to my phone within seconds of turning it on. My next thing was to try and pare it to my pc to see if it would play the sound from an online game that I play I turned the speak off then turned on the bluetooth on my pc turned the speaker back on and again within seconds it was found and ready to be pared this is the only con with the speaker itself even though it was connected to my pc and showed up in the list for output in the game settings it would not play but it would when connected to my phone. I brought on the app I have on my phone turned it on and then the speaker the sound from it is beyond compare to the only bluetooth speaker that I have for as small as this thing is it is very clear and thumps with the bass kicks in and you can actually connect it with other speakers that are bluetooth so you get stereo sound that was the pros of it and the cons yes I 100% would recommend it to friends and family

This little bluetooth speaker kinda surprised me. I've had dozens of various small and megaboom bluettoth speakers over the years and I figured this would have the same tinny and hollow sound like many others in this compact form factor. Not the case in my opinion. I'd equate it to a small home speaker from a certain fruit branded company. This Sony has very good rich sound and decent bass as well, even as the volume increases. I'm considering getting a second one for a stereo speaker setup. Battery life is also fantastic in my use. At my volume levels, I used it 9+ hours and it still probably had a bit of juice in it. Only recharged because I wanted to take it out and about the next day.

The sound quality was notably better rhan my JBL clip 3, however this speaker is disappointingly quiet and even when put into a small bathroom right next to the shower head while I shower the speaker is somehow still quiet. The water proof feature was very good and the speaker felt very good quality in general. I would still go with either a higher trim sony speaker or a JBL speaker instead.

This little speaker is exactly what I wanted for my travels. It is very durable and stays charged for a good amount of listening time. My only complaint is that it doesn't have much volume.

Extremely portable with great sound quality. Not a ton of bass, but that's expected with a small speaker. Battery life is amazing as I would use it every day and would only have to charge it once a week.
