It’s awesome, I use it as my desktop speaker and microphone, so far so good!!

My grandkids got this for Christmas and were very excited. They love it.!

I’m not easily impressed, but this Sony SRS-XB100 is a very small, and very cool speaker. And it is so small that it’s hard to imagine the sound that’s coming out of it. From a size perspective, it is 3.7” tall, 2.9” wide, and 3.4” deep, yet the bass coming out of this thing is outstanding. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised since the bass has been outstanding in every SRS model I’ve owned. Still, it’s so small… Upon receipt, I plugged the speaker in to ensure a full charge. It uses (and they provide) a USB-C type cable. While charging, a small red LED appears next to the Power button indicating that it was charging. That light disappeared once charging was done. The controls sit toward the bottom-side of the speaker. They consist of the following: • Power Button • Bluetooth Button • Pause/Play • Minus (reduce volume) • Plus (increase volume) There’s a small microphone slot located directly under the Pause/Play button. Pairing the speaker to my iPhone was seamless. The speaker went into pairing mode as soon as I powered it on. I went into Settings on my phone, then Bluetooth. I then selected the SRS-XB051 device, and it was done. Very easy! With the speaker turned on and paired, I went to my music app and selected music to play. Chicago sounded outstanding. The same goes for Sammy Smith. In fact, everything I play sounds top-notch – even my Audible books. And this little speaker offers up to 16 hours of play time. Sony has documented some features of this speaker. They include but are not limited to the following: • IP67 Waterproof and Dustproof Rating. • Compatible with a second speaker for stereo sound, although the second speaker must also be an SRS-XB100. • Echo cancelling technology when paired with the microphone. • This speaker has been tested and maintains it operability when gently submersed in water to a depth of 1m and left for 30 minutes. [Note that a different article indicated a depth of 1ft. Not sure which is correct.] Note that Sony recommends not placing this speaker directly on sand. It’s not hard to rave on this speaker; it’s really that good. As such, I am giving this speaker a 5-star rating.

For this to be a Sony with speaker It is not loud as I expected, but it’s OK. I don’t think it was worth the cost considering it was a Sony.

Doesn't play for long on a charge. May return. Good sound.

I bought four of these speakers for my office. I have deployed them in patient waiting areas to provide educational podcasts and easy listening. They are wonderful.

Small powerful speaker. It’s nice but sometimes the bass is so much if I don’t have it clipped onto something the speaker will fall off or vibrate the table. Even if the volume isn’t at max it does this.

It’s a good product good size for the money. Currently don’t have a complaint on it

For the price? This thing is 100% worth it. Bought one for myself and my wife

I bought 2 speakers and it took me awhile to get the second one to work yesterday. This morning it was back doing the same thing-NOT WORKING

The Sony XB100 portable Bluetooth speaker is an updated version of the XB13. It's also similar to the XB23, but less than half the height. It's designed to fit in most cupholders, so you can take it with you in your car. It also has a strap, so you can hook it to a backpack, tent or pretty much whatever you want. The XB100 is waterproof and dustproof, so it's perfect for any indoor or outdoor situations. The exterior is textured to make it easier to hold, though I think a slightly more rubbery or silicone finish would be better. The controls on the side are simple, the buttons are: power, Bluetooth, play/pause, and volume down and up. The battery is rated to last up to 16 hours. I had it on and used it several times without having to recharge it. It has a USB-C charging port with a fairly short included cable (one end of the cable is USB-C to plug into the speaker, the other end is a standard legacy USB to plug into a computer or power station). The USB-C port on the speaker is only for charging, nothing else. Connecting to a device is easy with Bluetooth. I connected the speaker to my computer, my Android phone and an older Android phone that I use to play music. Playing music sounds good, though a couple of times with songs with a lot of bass it produced a slight vibration. There is no sound adjustment possible except volume. You can use the Sony Music Center app to play music and it also tells you the amount of power left on the speaker. The XB100 also has a built-in microphone, so you can use it as a hands-free device for phone calls. The nice thing about using this as a speakerphone is you don't get the delay or cutting off when two people try to speak at the same time. As with other Sony portable speaker models, you can pair the XB100 with another XB100 for stereo sound. You can't connect it to any other models, however.

The product information said this speaker offers powerful, clear sound. It was anything but powerful. I was using it for my television and I had to crank the volume up as far as it would go, but I could hardly hear the audio even with the speaker sitting right next to me on the end table. I did not try listening to music -- maybe that would give a better result.

With Sony being one of the brands I use often, I tend to purchase headphones and speakers created by them as well. Speaker works as well as I hoped it would.

Does the job well. I was happily surprised that it allowed me to talk on my phone through it in the middle of my rehearsal. I've never been able to do that before.
