When the volume of the speaker sounds low, adjust the volume level of the BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate one, and then adjust the volume level of the speaker with the –/+ (volume) buttons on the speaker.
The sound may become low in the following cases. This is not a malfunction.
- When the built-in battery is running low and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only.
- When the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor (commercially available) or to a computer that comes equipped with a USB charging port.
- When the ambient temperature of the speaker is high.
If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
Turn off the speaker.
Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

Great little speaker to do a big job

Unfortunately the volume is too low and there’s no real bass. Not made with good quality.

Thank you for the review and we do apologize for the inconvenience. The sound quality will depend in the source, battery life and environment that you're playing. Also, the sound quality may change when water enters the speaker section of the system. If you have used the speaker in a location where may have been in contact with water, try the following procedure. Wipe off any moisture on the speaker's surface. Put the speaker on a dry soft cloth with the fabric part facing down to drain any water that may have collected inside the speaker. If the issue is resolved.
The issue was caused by water getting inside the speaker.
If the issue is not resolved, initialize your speaker and try again. Here's the link on how to.

Unfortunately, the XB100 doesn't have a built-in equalizer to adjust the bass and treble sound. To adjust the sound quality of the speaker, you will need to configure the equalizer function of the connected audio device. Most of the audio device like smartphone has an equalizer function for sound quality that can be adjusted according to your preferences. I hope this helps.

Amazing Sound

Like a smaller version of bass speakers i've seen in the past. Its stylish and fairly light but feels good and build quality appears to be excellent. It has an adjustable strap for holding, and actually something I might find my self carrying on trips. The top speaker is visible, but the unit is waterproof and dust proof. It comes in four colors but I have conservative black. Pairing was easy and there is an app for some options although it does not appear to be necessary. Sound quality was excellent, clean and clear, with no excessive bass like some speakers. This is not to say it is lacking in bass. I would say the bass is more blended into the mid range so the sound is cleaner. Vocals were excellent on this speaker. Using it as a speaker phone was also good. The built in mic is clear and the other party has no problem hearing. It requires a USB C charger and comes with a stub of a charging cable- not sure what Sony was thinking but the cable was so short! Battery life is excellent- I used it for background music in my office and it lasted the whole day without issue. There are all the necessary controls on the front. You can use two to get a stereo effect which is something I might just do.
