We tried to play it out side by the pool and you could barely hear it if you were 10 feet away from it. We had a Beats Pill previously that was great and you could hear it 50 yards away, but after 7 years it died and I went with this Sony because it was a good price and thought Sony had great products...they do, just not this speaker. If you want something to put on your desk at work to listen to music softly, this is your speaker. If you want to listen to music by the pool in the back yard, at a family gathering or in a warehouse environment...thus is NOT your speaker.
