When the volume of the speaker sounds low, adjust the volume level of the BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate one, and then adjust the volume level of the speaker with the –/+ (volume) buttons on the speaker.
The sound may become low in the following cases. This is not a malfunction.
- When the built-in battery is running low and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only.
- When the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor (commercially available) or to a computer that comes equipped with a USB charging port.
- When the ambient temperature of the speaker is high.
If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
Turn off the speaker.
Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

Not Good for TV

It was anything but powerful. I was using it for my television and I had to crank the volume up as far as it would go, but I could hardly hear the audio even with the speaker sitting right next to me on the end table. I did not try listening to music -- maybe that would give a better result.

Unfortunately, the XB100 doesn't have a built-in equalizer to adjust the bass and treble sound. To adjust the sound quality of the speaker, you will need to configure the equalizer function of the connected audio device. Most of the audio device like smartphone has an equalizer function for sound quality that can be adjusted according to your preferences. I hope this helps.

It's also similar to the XB23, but less than half the height. It's designed to fit in most cupholders, so you can take it with you in your car. It also has a strap, so you can hook it to a backpack, tent or pretty much whatever you want. The XB100 is waterproof and dustproof, so it's perfect for any indoor or outdoor situations. The exterior is textured to make it easier to hold, though I think a slightly more rubbery or silicone finish would be better. The controls on the side are simple, the buttons are: power, Bluetooth, play/pause, and volume down and up. The battery is rated to last up to 16 hours. I had it on and used it several times without having to recharge it. It has a USB-C charging port with a fairly short included cable (one end of the cable is USB-C to plug into the speaker, the other end is a standard legacy USB to plug into a computer or power station). The USB-C port on the speaker is only for charging, nothing else. Connecting to a device is easy with Bluetooth. I connected the speaker to my computer, my Android phone and an older Android phone that I use to play music. Playing music sounds good, though a couple of times with songs with a lot of bass it produced a slight vibration. There is no sound adjustment possible except volume. You can use the Sony Music Center app to play music and it also tells you the amount of power left on the speaker. The XB100 also has a built-in microphone, so you can use it as a hands-free device for phone calls. The nice thing about using this as a speakerphone is you don't get the delay or cutting off when two people try to speak at the same time. As with other Sony portable speaker models, you can pair the XB100 with another XB100 for stereo sound. You can't connect it to any other models, however.

Nice device for indoors

The downside is that the battery will drain fast and would recommend to have it charging to the wall or usb dock while using it and you'll be ok. I wouldn't recommend it for outdoor usage because is very small and the battery will not last that long

Sony XB100 Has Poor Battery Life

It is now mid-Nov 2025. The speaker will not hold a charge. Shuts off after 5 minutes. It's past the return window so I'm stuck with it. No more Sony speakers for me. They sound great. I just needed this to amplify my laptop's poor sound. So now I have to shop another brand.
