I bought this for my son and he claims that is shuts the volume off every so often and he has to turn it off and back on.

After many past models they have put themselves ahead of the competition as far as sound for the money is concerned. XB20- looks like the beats pill but sounds way better; also sounds better than the bose mini/color. $100 starting if on budget, but it sure won't look or sound that way. XB30- Sounds better than Bose Soundlink 3, also the the new Bose that looks like a cone, superior sound the the JBL because I get a more accurate stereo sound and is superior the the Harmon/Kardon Onyx (strange design is not portable, placement can be annoying, battery is junk and interface is horrible. At $150 this is the best bang for your buck. XB40- sounds like a true hifi stereo due to separation, large accurate acoustics, amazing mids, deeper bass (can be tamed using app if desired), it is the largest out of the 3 but is still very portable. $250 sound for pool parties and large gatherings. All 3 speakers can fit in a backpack, seem to be tailored for a wide range of customers and settings can be made/saved on device utilizing Sony app. Fairly user friendly using iPhone or Andriod. I've purchased and returned many Bluetooth brands to Best Buy and this time I'm very happy. Sony got everything right about this speaker, rounded product that will age well. Makes a great gift.

I didn’t like the fact that once it was connected to my phone it wouldn’t connect to my iPad so I had to return it

The speaker battery life sucks. It doesn’t get as loud as I thought it would either.

Received the speaker and read the instructions. Charged the speaker, synced it to my phone and WOW!! Pleasantly surprised by the sound and bass of this tiny speaker. The lighting mode and features on the SongPal app is an added bonus. It may be a small feature to other people, but I enjoy the lights synchronize with the beats and melody. The sound of this speaker fills the entire house. I make sure to listen to music more when I'm home thanks to this power speaker.

Ok for the size but there are better brands out there that deliver more sound like nyne

Was looking for something for the pool and beach but I should of went with something bigger

The speaker died, on us, after about a month; had to take it back.

I bought this because it claimed to have a 24 hour lasting charge for battery. I am a driver and it loses battery after 6 hours MAX! Will be returning this garbage product, and I bought the warranty so I want my money back as well

I don't exactly dislike this speaker, but I bought mine when it was on sale for 90 dollars. Personally, my short answer is that there are better options unless you really want good, deep bass at low volumes and a lightshow... though the bass performance decreases rapidly as the volume gets higher. Honestly, compared to others in its class, it just doesnt hold up. Even though it is quite bassy at low-medium volumes -- and that bass extends well into the lower 50 hzs before it rolls off --other speakers (especially the Megaboom) outclass it in total audio performance, especially where dynamics and overall presence are involved. I can set my UE megaboom in the middle of a room and it fills the room with well-dispersed stereo music and maintains good bass through the entire volume range, but this speaker just lacks that ability and sounds boring in comparison, and the bass begins to rapidly fade the louder it goes until there is almost none left. The flat, un-dynamic nature of the sound is forgettable, unexciting and uninspiring, and really only sounds decent when the unit is directly facing you. It is apparently water resistant, but the manual specifically says, right beneath its instructions on what to do if water touches the unit, that exposure to water will void the warranty. Its hard to tell if this is a generic statement that finds its way into all Sony manuals or a reason for Sony to deny you warranty service. Either way, Sony isnt known for great customer service. The 'light show' it produces is a bit gimmicky. It attempts to detect a beat and flash the lights in time but it only works for EDM or very basic songs. Most of the time, its just a mess. Additionally, it forgets what setting you had it on frequently and sometimes defaults to its most chaotic "rave" setting on reboots. The app that you have to download to access the EQ and other functions is garbage. It takes 2 or 3 attempts to connect to the speaker, which terminates the existing connection, if one was present. The EQ, like the light-show, forgets where you set it frequently and resets... which is unfortunate because tweaking the EQ is the only way this speaker sounds decent in my opinion Also, it uses a proprietary charging adapter... a minor annoyance for me considering most speakers use a form of USB. All in all, there are better options. I got to listen to an Ultimate Ears Wonderboom, which is in this price range, and it sounds much better, is fully waterproof.and lacks gimmicky features.

Good features but not sound and charge like I thought

So, here is my short review. This speaker is absolutely ridiculous in the fullness department. The only reason I have to rate this 4 stars is that I really feel like the treble is super directional. I have not found many other wireless options to provide as much bottom end as this does with the EXTRA BASS turned on. This speaker is overall aimed at a newer mixing and mastering style, and the light show really drives the point, but I really enjoy this speaker overall so far. It has a premium weight to it, and that helps spread the bass and give it a nice, full, well rounded bottom end. Although I have not yet used the app, I do wish there were more EQ options from the device directly when I want to use it with the AUX port. I only assume there must be some options for this in the app, but it is pretty solid for the stock settings. Music from artists like GRiZ really shine on this little guy, and for $100, it was a steal. Sampled some Robin Trower/rock and some jazz/bossa as well, and I can say that this is suited for high energy music. I feel like the jazz and more natural instruments definitely sounded better with the bass turned off, so its nice to have the option to switch it quickly. one more thing... the white strobes can be a little much, but the overall effect of the lighting system is a nice addition.

First day out the box was good. After that, I kept getting static and the Bluetooth kept disconnecing. It’s been over a month since I’ve purchased this, but I have no receipt or box to even return it.. so now I’m stuck with this dud.

When I first used this speaker, the amount of volume, bass, and real/crisp sounds that came out of this, was simply amazing. I absolutely love the way this speaker looks, feels and sounds. And the party lights are an awesome touch as well.

Stay away from this brand TVs speakers etc. Quality has declined. Keep having to replace items from them that then eventually run out of warranty. Use to be good but are now very cheap!
