Not sure how the newer ear bud models are, but it seems like Sony's newer speakers and over-the-head earphones don't sound as good as older models...so I am assuming that this era of Sony products sound much better than the buds they are putting out there now. (Definitely a money making strategy to get you to buy the $300 earphones that have the same sound quality of the ones that cost $100 a few years ago).
