They don't get in the way at all. The only negative is that the microphone isn't as close to the face as it should be. Making it almost impossible to use for phone calls

Good Bass But very bad microphone

The person on the other side cannot ear anything I talk. I returned them and got bose sound sport which are amazing. I recommend Bose Sound Sport wireless.

Had to get some with stems curving over the back of the ears--might have been a problem unique to us.
