Good sound but didn’t suit my purpose

Terrible sound
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The quality of sound was bad. To pay this much for them I was expecting a little louder sound quality.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For this price, this earphones are one of the best choice. But noise cancelling seems not working if compared to Bose

Great Sound, Good Bluetooth Range, Decent Phones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's start off with the aesthetics - this is a fine looking piece of kit. Pleasing to the eyes and chock full of interface buttons on the headphones themselves. Sometimes, that many options for control could be a problem, but here, the size and spacing work out. Sound quality is pretty good with these headphones. I'd rate is a 7 out of 10. It doesn't feel quite as immersive as one would expect, but it's on par with the price. Noise cancelling works - pretty much only for the traditional noise cancelling targets - low level background noise, like the hum of airplane engines, the vent fan of a hood, or heater blower. That said, the noise cancelling reduced the volume of the background noise by a lot, but there was still a low hum that I could hear. As a result, while it does improve the listening experience, it doesn't add that much. I can see this being useful if such noises bother or distract you, or if you want to listen to music while curled up in a restful position. Perhaps the best usage was cutting down background noise in the gym. I just wasn't that impressed with it at home. Bluetooth range is pretty good, much better than some other bluetooth headsets I've used. Battery life is amazing! If there's ever a device design for a long trip, this is it. That said, the headphones are comfortable for short term wearing (about a couple hours) but more than that may start to feel a bit heavy or add pressure around the ears. I'm not sure if this was due to not normally wearing over the ear headphones for long periods or the design itself. The app Sony recommends for Android phone pairing is ok, though doesn't really give any improvements. All of the sound modes don't really improve upon music and all other features it provides (activating the noise cancelling or bass) are already controllable via buttons on the phone. Speaking of the controls, activating/deactivating bass or noise cancellation comes with both interruption of music and an announcement of the operation taking place. Now, I suppose the interruption is necessary to switch modes with the headphones. But I found the audible announcements annoying. I feel after a few times, you'd get used to knowing where a particular button is located, and not need the announcement to let you know what feature is being activated or deactivated. All in all, I'd say this is a decent buy.

Great sound but cheap material
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product barely last six months until the hinges holding the headphone cup start to break apart. But the headphones do sound great. If you do buy them get the warranty.

Decent headphone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first foray in noise cancelling headphones. To be frank, I found them just OK. Not a great VFM. Here are some objective pros and cons as per me: Pros: NC works well Great battery life Works as a regular headphone with no battery and stereo cable Cons: I didn't find the fit too comfortable Didn't find the controls too intuitive. However, someone may get used to them over time. Volume control on headphone doesn't work when using stereo cable. Mediocre quality stereo and USB cable considering it's a premium headphone.

Rare Sony Dud
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm an audio professional with several pair of headphones. I got these for the airplane because I wanted a closed ear, noise cancelling solution. Unfortunately I didn't have time to try them out before my lengthy flight, because they were unusable on the flight. Besides the fact they they were the muddiest, most muffled, bassist headphones I have ever put on, the power and noise cancelling control buttons were identical and laid out so I had to remove the phones each time to see which one I had pressed. The lack of an indicator light on these buttons made it more challenging because the only way to know if the power is on or the noise cancelling is active is through the bluetooth, which means one has to be wearing the phones to hear, which is impossible if you haven't memorized each button's location. Fortunately Best Buy gave me a store credit. I usually like everything Sony, just not this product.

Great sounding, big & heavy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After using these headphones for several days, I have to say that they are not meant for someone like me, unfortunately. Having used Bose headphones before, I was not expecting such a cumbersome experience. First the positive - great sound! I tested these with my phone, laptop and then plugged in (non bt) to my ps4 controller. When using Bluetooth (bt), you can use the bass boost feature with the other controls like fast forward and such. Honestly, the sound was great with bass boost on or off, which is nice. With the headphones plugged in, I couldn't get some controls to work, but the sound was still top shelf. There were issues however aside from the size of the headphones. For some reason, my Galaxy s7e could not connect to these via bt and had to use nfc to get it to recognize the BT to connect to my phone. Weird! Spent an hour before this worked, but connected to my win 10.1HP laptop immediately. I used these for a phone call once and while no complaints on the sound, the controls were difficult to use. Probably gets easier to use over time however. I also used the suggested app and was given different sound options like "arena" or "theatre" to give the experience some different flavor, nice touch. So while the sound and some options are nice to have, the biggest negative is the big size of the headphones. They feel on the ear and not over the ear, which ends up pinching my earlobes causing soreness. Basically have to take them off after 20 minutes. Compared to Bose which are very light when pressed against my dome. With how I am, these simply don't work for me, but I am still rating these as recommended as I know some will no doubt love these. I hope Sony make improvements on the size and weight going forward.

Great noise cancelling headphones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These head phones are a great all around set. Very easy to pair to devices. The battery life is very impressive. The noise cancelling portion works very well compared to other higher end Bluetooth noise cancelling headphones I have used in the past. The bass is very impressive but for some audiophiles it may be a bit much if they more prefer treble over bass. I was impressed with the headphones and plan to purchase another pair.
