Ear Cup Broken, Sony Will Not Honor Warranty

I purchased these headphones for my son for Christmas of 2018. He had them less than three months when the right ear cup fell off of the headband. Through a Google search, I found this to be a frequently reported problem. I called Sony at their warranty claims phone number to report the defect in workmanship. They denied my request for repair, stating that they will only fix problems inside the headphones with electronic components and not the workmanship of the headphones themselves. They referred me to the Sony national customer relations center for further assistance. This center can only be contacted by email. I responded by email with all of the information they requested of me and sent the proof of purchase from Best Buy from my purchase history to the web address they specified. They rejected my proof of purchase because it was from my buying history and was not the complete purchase detail. I drilled into the purchase history at Best Buy and sent them the entire purchase detail as a PDF. For over five days now, they have not contacted me nor made any effort to assist me with my claim. Be warned that these headphones are made of poor quality and Sony will likely not respond to your warranty request either.

I bought these back in August within a month the frame had cracked. For the record I was using these as intended I wasn’t playing football with them. I called both Best Buy and Sony both told me the other one was the person to deal with. Thoroughly disgusted, Wish I had done more research if you looking at these I would recommend Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 far better quality

This headphone headband is not good

Please don't buy this product and this headphone headband (plastic) is not at all good and it won't last more than 3 months. I'm the serious buyer of SONY Products and I always go with this BRAND. Since my purchase is under the warranty of SONY (1 YEAR), but at the end, got a kind of frustration, invested 130$ but no use. Called the customer care of Best Buy and they redirected to me SONY Customer care and they again redirected me to UNITED RADIO Company; and at the end, they are asking minimum charge of 75$ for the base service charge to look into the headphone issue. Nothing more to say this bad situation!

    Great headphones, for a while

Received these as a Christmas gift. I absolutely adored them, so much so that I used them every day, everywhere: commuting, at work, around the house, wherever. Comfortable to wear, with great sound quality and battery life. After ~6 months of use, as mentioned in some other reviews, one of the plastic "arms" connected to the ear cups broke. Then another one broke, on the other side. After this, it was only a matter of time until the remaining arms would break with all the weight on them, now one of the cups is only connected by a cord. Sony does not cover "physical damage" with their warranty, even though it occurred through normal use and is obviously a problem with the build itself. They refer you to their third party repair company that will charge ~$75 for a repair.

    Sounds fine, very uncomfortable

They sound fine but the foam at the top of the headset is rock hard and uncomfortable. Couple that with the fact that the headphones are heavy and they weigh down on your head in a really unpleasant way. I returned them soon after purchase. For $250 Sony should really put a better quality foam piece at the top.

Don''t buy Sony headphones MDR-XB950N1 wireless noise cancelling headphones. They broke within 6 months by just my son picking them up. Sony sold this defective product and would not replace them for me.
