    Good headphones for music

Overall the sound quality you get from these is quite good. The noise cancellation feature, howvever, is not so good. The Bluetooth pairing can give some trouble when setting up first time but otherwise works fine. The on/off button location often gets in the way when trying to adjust the headphone over your head, turning your power off, so it can be a bit irritating

I bought these for my husband to use them to listen to his music. Not only does he listen to music, he uses them as his earbuds for making phone calls for work. He can't even hear the dog bark!

Have been using these headphones for over a month now and the sound is excellent. I am actually using them on the lawnmower and it does cut out the sound of the lawnmower.

I bought this head phone as a gift for my husband. He said it’s his best head phone. The sound is really good and on top of that there’s a really good noise cancellation. He said it’s perfect.

I use my headphones paired up with my MP3 player at work to drown out all the background noise. Great noise canceling headphones but a bit on the heavy side if you are wearing them for a long period of time.

I was concerned with coming from the beats world that I would end up hating them but turns out, I'm really impressed with them. I think that the bass is much better and found myself liking more than the beats. Worth the purchase!

I love these headphones! I really wanted to purchase a different model from Sony, but they were too expensive. These were in the right price range and quality is superb. Battery life is also a major plus! Definitely recommend!

This review is for the Sony MDR-XB950N1 Noise cancelling stereo headphones with bass boost feature. A lot of reviews have been posted for this exceptionally nice set of headphones. Most have been glowing and it deserves the praise for it’s exceptional ability to block external noise. It has exceptional range and no transmission or speaker hiss. It is exceptionally comfortable to wear. The ear pieces fold flat for easy packing. It has exceptional bass quality. In most cases I found that the bass boost feature wasn’t really necessary, but if you like thumping bass, these phones will produce it. It interrupts music from your phone to answer calls. It has a built in speaker so you can carry on your phone conversations without removing the headphones. You can skip forward or reverse the tracks playing with a handy toggle switch when listening through Bluetooth. This feature will not work when connected by analog with the cable. What it excels at is comfort, long battery charge life, excellent bass, great sound amplification for TV viewers with less than good hearing (naturally you have to have a TV or receiver with Bluetooth). It is also great for busy noisy households. You won’t hear the kids arguing or the TV in the other room. Voice reproduction is clear and concise. Like all things it isn’t perfect at everything. If you are buying it solely for music and like to listen to middle of the road music, Adele, Miranda Lambert, Nora Jones or any artist whose music utilizes the full range of speaker response and you tend to like the upper mids and highs/ tweeter range to be crisp, these will not do it. It is pleasant to listen to, but if you are an audiophile with a high quality full range audio system in your car or home, you will find these to produce rather subdued highs. I have a pair of Grind Wireless Bluetooth on ear phones that are one third the price of these and you will hear the crisp highs with them and still have more than acceptable bass. So if this something that may be an issue to you give it some thought. If you have never had a decent set of phones, you will be thrilled with these regardless of what you use them for. Issues that irritate me are. Connectivity is a pain. Maybe it is just my set. If you have an Android phone you will have to download the connect app and the only way I could connect with any of my phones, both Samsung and LG, was to initially connect with NFC, and that took a lot of effort. After the initial connection you can connect through the Bluetooth settings. I have had issues where I have had to turn off phone audio in order to have it connect to my phone. It says it is connected, but it won’t play music. Like I said, connectivity has been an issue for me on my phones, my Windows 10 computer and my Samsung Smart TV. I always get connected, but never quickly. Is it worth the money? If you do a lot airline travel I couldn’t imagine being without its noise blocking ability. If you wear phones for a long period it is really comfortable. If noisy use isn’t something that you encounter and lengthy periods of use doesn’t happen and thumping bass isn’t your bag, then 300 dollars starts to be hard to justify. These kind of fall in the extreme range pricewise. Rather pricey for someone who budgets their money and if money isn’t an issue then maybe paying an extra 150 bucks for a set of phones with better high range response should be considered it you are a fussy audiophile. So in summation, I am torn about these. I love them for my TV watching, but I miss those sharp highs that I know are there, but I love the bass. 300 dollars doesn’t buy perfect, but it buys pretty close to perfect.

They are great noise canceling headphones but they aren't as nice as the mdr-1000x. Originally bought these for my niece but they were too heavy and bulky.
