High quality design and sound

In my opinion their headphones and speakers sound much higher quality than many other brands. THE XE300 speaker is no exception when it comes to sound quality it is high quality. Starting off with build quality. This exterior of this speaker is covered in a mesh material around the speaker and a hard rubberized material around the rest of the speaker. The materials feel premium and are durable. It should be able to handle day to day abuse. It charges via a USB-c port which is my preference since it is becoming the world standard. It means one less different cable to carry around. It has a quick charge feature which allows it to give you 70 minutes of listening time for a 10-minute charge. I enjoyed this feature because it seems like every time, I pull out a speaker to use it, I never have it charged up. Once fully charged this speaker has plenty of battery to last you multiple days of listening. The other important aspect of any Bluetooth speaker is sound quality. As I mentioned in the beginning, this speaker along with all Sony products sounds amazing. Even at the highest volume it does not have any distortion. It gets loud enough to fill any decent sized room and is also great when listening to outdoors. One thing that really impressed me was the speaker phone. Not all speakers have a speaker phone capability. However, I tested this one out with several people and they were not even able to tell I was using a speaker. You also do not have to be extremely close to it so it can be used for conference calls etc. The only small downside that I could find is that it is a directional speaker. Meaning audio only comes out of the front of the speaker so you must be conscious of which way you have the speaker facing in order to get the best quality. This is a small gripe and it is still a great speaker. If you are in the market for a high-quality speaker that sounds great and is built well then, I would recommend this speaker. One other note is that it is on the large side. Although it is pretty light weight it is not the smallest or most compact. That is not a big deal but if it is something you were going to throw in a backpack it might be something to consider.

The speaker has an operating range of approximately 30 feet (10 meters) within a line of sight but will vary depending on the surrounding conditions. It is recommended to use the speaker within this range when using the Bluetooth connection.
NOTE: Communication range will vary according to whether walls or other obstacles are located between the devices, the material used in the intervening walls, the presence of Radio Frequency (RF) interference and other environmental conditions, and the type of software being used, if applicable.

Good in the right circumstances

Out of the box, it’s a pleasing, compact design. I appreciate that it charges via USB-C, same as my phone, so no extra cord to keep track of. The dedicated “Battery” button is great. A press of the button announces battery percentage and takes the guesswork out of the need for recharge. After a single charge and hours of use at medium-high volume, it’s still going strong. Battery life is rated at 24 hours. Connection to my phone (Galaxy S22 Ultra) couldn’t have been easier. When I powered on the speaker for the first time, a prompt appeared on the phone to connect to the new device. Easy! Phone calls can be answered by the press of a button. I can carry on a conversation normally, callers are loud and clear, easy to understand, but it is apparent to the caller that it is a speakerphone. The size and shape make it easy to grab and go. The rubberized exterior is pleasantly grippy and seems very durable. The IP67 rating means that the speaker is dustproof and water resistant. I can confidently take it to the park, beach, or poolside. Onboard controls are straightforward and intuitive. The Sony XE300 has an impressive ability to fill a space with sound, but the quality of the sound varies widely with the type of music. As mentioned at the top, music playback has yielded mixed results. The major limitations are bass reproduction and volume, with the bass lacking depth and punch. I was listening to some vintage country (think Hank Williams Sr./Willy Nelson/Waylon Jennings), and I thought it sounded terrific! When I changed over to some contemporary music with deep, powerful bass, the limits of the XE300 were quickly revealed as the music reproduction became muddy and distorted. Volume is adequate but not what I would characterize as loud. For personal use to create some atmosphere, this is a good speaker. It is not the speaker I would take to a party in a large space or where it needs to be heard above the din of the festivities.

Also, if there is ambient noise or another speaker nearby, the Ambient Noise Sensing function may activate and cause this issue. Depending on the connected BLUETOOTH device, volume adjustment on the BLUETOOTH device may not change the volume level of the speaker (i.e. the (power) indicator does not flash). When the volume of the speaker sounds low, adjust the volume level of the BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate one, and then adjust the volume level of the speaker with the +/- (volume) buttons on the speaker.

Great portable speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Sony SRSXE200 is an all-around great portable bluetooth speaker with an incredibly easy pairing process and physical control buttons to make changing settings possible without the need for an application. While this is not the best sounding portable speaker on the market, I think it is probably one of the better water/dust-proof speakers that is also durable. This makes the XE200 great for outdoor parties regardless of the weather or environment, and for this kind of use case I think the sound is fine as it is out the box, and if you are willing to either install the app or look up the guide for changing the default connection quality (changing the codec), there are some additional modifications you can make to help improve the sound quality to your liking. I am personally not a fan of the look of the speaker, but I do understand that it is designed in a way to help boost the sound for people who aren't directly in front of the speaker, and this again means it is something that I can overlook since it serves a purpose. Speaking of the application, I am extremely glad that it is not required to get full functionality out of the speakers, the only thing you cannot do without the application is to update the speaker, which for me is fine since I am not having any issues and do not see any reason to update currently. However, if you are having issues, or see that an update is adding a feature that you would like, I personally would just install the app to do the update and then uninstall the application again. It is refreshing that Sony has not made it mandatory to install an additional app on my phone for something like a bluetooth speaker, the fact that all functionality can be completed using the physical buttons on the speaker itself is very nice and is something I would like to see from more manufacturers.

Smooth sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The sound from this speaker is so smooth. It fills the room but is not sharp or offensive. It’s crystal clear whether listening to music, podcasts or using for a phone call. Out of the box I was able to connect easily after downloading the app; the whole process only took about five minutes. I was able to listen for about six hours before it died, as it didn’t come fully charged from the box. However, after about an hour on the charger it was back up to a full battery and I was able to listen for about 21 hours, although not consecutive. I paid very close attention to how much use I was able to get out of one charge because my current Bluetooth speaker requires charging after about eight hours of use and takes almost three hours to charge, so I was very impressed. When you power the speaker on it connects almost immediately to the last device and is ready to go. The app that you have to download is actually pretty cool; it synced to my Spotify and my Apple Music and it let me create playlists. The speaker design is a bit bulky but the shape makes it able to fit pretty much anywhere. If you stand it vertically you can turn it in various directions to project the sound a certain direction, or you can lay it horizontally and direct the sound upward which really fills the whole room. The audio settings came perfect out of the box so I haven’t adjusted anything but it looked easy to do in the app. Overall I am so incredibly satisfied with this speaker and have already given away the other one that I had been using before. Sony definitely hit it out of the park!

Sony - SRSXE200 - Excellent Bluetooth Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pulled the Sony SRSXE200 out of the box, which was very easy by the way, and turned it on, connecting it to my phone in less than three minutes. Using Sony's app, I was able to see that it was charged to about 60% when I first got it. I typically listen to more audiobooks than music. I went out in the garage and started working while listening to my audiobook, but it sounded way too deep. I opened up the app and using the equalizer, I brought down the lows and increased the mid range, which made the quality of the voice much better. After listening for an hour, the battery showed to have 56% left. That's a little better than the advertised battery capacity, but that may be due to the fact I was only listening to an audiobook, using less energy to drive the speaker. I did play some music a little later, though. For it's size, the audio volume and quality available is quite surprising. I reset the equalizer settings, and played music for about an hour at 1/4 volume. The battery was showing at 50% after an hour, which is wonderful. I am extremely satisfied with this speaker and looking forward to several years of use.

But what exactly does that mean for the listener? It means you get a louder speaker with more bass and now you can stop trying to find an awkward place in the middle of the room for speaker. Let's be honest, most people are placing a speaker on a shelf of table and listening from one side of it anyway. Sony capitalizes on this by delivering amazing sound quality by pinching the speaker openings to a smaller opening. And to take it even a step further, there are 2 passive radiators at the top and bottom that also bounce against solid surfaces. Okay, what I am trying to say is that this little speaker delivers deep bass without blowing our the speakers from being "too loud" Sony hit a home run with this speaker and yet again they are snowing other big brands that they are ready to take over as the #1 portable sound experience. If you're in the market for a portable speaker, don't look any further. This is the speaker you want to get.

Great bluetooth speaker

Right out of the box, the packaging is really good for this unit. Includes the unit, charging cable and instructions. The sound quality on this is great, however it felt a little muffled at times. I've docked this one star due to needing to download the Sony Music Center app. You need to download the app to change EQ settings. Set up was a breeze as the speaker showed up on my phone and I was able to quickly pair it to my phone. Build quality is terrific, this spraker is dust, water and shock proof. If you like getting caught up on streaming services this speaker pairs really well with a phone, meaning that if i want to just enjoy a movie outside all i need is this speaker and my phone. I dont know why a handle isn't attached to this speaker, missed opportunity on Sony's end... Overall I'm happy with this product and it'll definitely get some really good use during cookouts and outdoor gatherings. It's a great product that will spend most of the time in the kitchen.

It feels substantial and well-built. Battery hasn't been an issue at all, it lasts a long time. The sound is very nice, it's full and balanced fairly well. The interface is simple and straight forward and connecting it to devices is a breeze. The app allows you to group speakers and tweak the sound levels. I would definitely recommend this device.
