I picked this one as an upgrade to a the SRS-XB23 (which is still a great speaker). The XE300 has better sound to me. There are two features that have me using this every day. One, you can connect two devices to it at the same time, and two, it works well as a speakerphone. I have this connected to my phone for listening to music and podcasts throughout the day, and also paired to a laptop to use when I need to join meetings. The sound is great, a little bass heavy at first but can be adjusted in the Sony Music Center app. Using it for calls has worked surprisingly well. People on the other end said that my voice was clear and no issues. It is also very nice looking. While this is a rugged speaker, the texture almost looks like fabric, and it looks very nice. The shape is really nice for a rather bulky speaker, the angles make it easy to pick up or set on the side if you like. Having it out by the pool, there is no need to worry about splashes. Charging is done over usb type c, and charged very quickly. Battery life is great, I’m getting near the claimed 24 hours. This speaker can also be joined as a group with others (using the Party Connect feature). This allows all joined speakers to act as one, or you can join two together to make a stereo pair. I can’t think of any faults with this product, it seems perfect for my needs and I expect it to last for years.

The one thing with technology that continuously impresses me is the idea of creating items in smaller packages. The speaker itself is incredibly light, durable, water proof, long lasting battery, quick charge and superior sound in such a small compact size. If you have an android phone then the speaker will offer quick pair..which I was unable to test. With my experience though, the speaker charges lighting quick, and has exceptional sound. I left the speaker outside overnight knowing it was going to rain, just to mimic what would be if I had friends over and forgot about it. The next morning I took a towel, cleaned off the device and it played flawlessly, all while looking brand new. The product is also IPX rated so if you were to bring this to a beach, sand would not destroy it or get inside of the product...its really intelligently manufactured. It also is charged via USB-C which is great. Another thing I specifically would like to mention is the overall sound quality that the speaker produces. I am not an audiophile but to me the sound is incredible and sounds very stable no matter where you are near the speaker. Inside of a room the sound is incredible and outside without the sound bouncing off of walls, it still sounds well balanced and exceptionally loud. I highly recommend this speaker, so much so I am going to purchase one to pair with this speaker.

While we're glad you love the Blue color of the speaker, we're so sorry it hasn't performed to your standards and you find the speaker doesn't get very loud. We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Depending on the connected BLUETOOTH device, volume adjustment on the BLUETOOTH device may not change the volume level of the speaker (i.e. the(power) indicator does not flash). When the volume of the speaker sounds low, adjust the volume level of the BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate one, and then adjust the volume level of the speaker with the +/- (volume) buttons on the speaker.

Owned for 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive owned previous Sony portable speakers and they sounded great, Sony is known to try new things, but for some reason I didnt get the sound I wanted out of this one, it has good sound stage, but the sound sounded muffled and didnt have the bass I wanted, even after adjusting the EQ. Has great updated technology, but I couldnt get past the sound. Had to return it and went with the Bose flex.

Thank you for taking the time to review your SRS-XE200 speaker. We are so sorry if the volume of our XE200 did not meet your expectations and that it needs to be returned. This function can be adjusted on the Sony Music Center app. There is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble to tailor-fit the sound quality to your needs. You can also check the app that you are using (for audio) or your source device for sound settings and adjustment. At the time of purchase, the audio output of the speaker is set for monaural audio playback. You can also change the speaker set up from Mono to Stereo to suit your needs.

Thank you for your time writing this review. We are sorry but the SRSXE200 speaker is not specifically advertised as having Extra bass. If you are looking for the Sony speaker with Mega or Extra bass, we recommend our XG300, XG500, XB43and XB23.

Lets start with size - this is a small yet medium size 9.37 x 4.75 x 4.25 and coming in at 2lbs. Portable but not mobile would be my description. Easy to toss in a bag and use but your not going to want to lug it on a hike. My other Sony speakers had a strap on it - this one does not. Kinda miss that option as this one is just a bit concerning to palm and carry. Even with the rubbery skin oln the outside. Sound - initially the sound was not favorable - bit tinny and lacking on bass - I was able to EQ it with the app and bring to a more desirable sound - after about 10hrs though it leveled out and had some depth. In terms of sheer volume its able to easily provide sound for a room or medium outdoor area. I used it in my shop and it was plenty loud. Worked well on the patio as well. Battery is more than I ever needed. I don't usually need extended battery - but specs state it will last 24hrs . I was able to use for about 4 days before i needed to recharge. Technical details - usb-c charging port, only the cable was provided in the box. Sealed buttons and IP67 water/dust/shock proof, and the ever fun party Connect. Its fun getting all my Sony speakers going on the patio!! nice speaker, good sound, ample battery, easy to use and will take a beating. Needs a carry strap!

-While the speaker is running on power from the rechargeable built-in battery, the sound may become low in the event that the rechargeable built-in battery is running out of power and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction.
-When the ambient temperature of the speaker is high.
