While we're glad you like most of the features and voice guidance associated with the remaining battery power, we're sorry to hear it hasn't performed to your standards when it comes to the bass sound and you find the speaker doesn't get very loud. We want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker.
By downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. To get the most out of the volume, turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.
Additionally, if there is ambient noise or another speaker nearby, the Ambient Noise Sensing function may activate and cause this issue. You can deactivate the Ambient Noise Sensing function using the Sony | Music Center app or speaker button. Battery life claims are a lie

It definitely beats my old speaker, but that’s not saying much cuz my old one was like $10 and 1/5 the size. Also, the 16hr battery life is a complete lie. I get 3 hours before the low battery warning alert and can maybe get 4 hours out of a full charge. That’s really disappointing. Like why lie? Just say 4 hours max, that’s still a good battery.

Depending on the connected BLUETOOTH device, volume adjustment on the BLUETOOTH device may not change the volume level of the speaker (i.e. the(power) indicator does not flash). When the volume of the speaker sounds low, adjust the volume level of the BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate one, and then adjust the volume level of the speaker with the +/- (volume) buttons on the speaker.

The XE200 will give you 16 hours of play when the battery is fully charged, meaning a single charge should be long enough to power through any party. And Sony's unique mic sensing technology, Ambient Noise Sensing, helps save battery when used outside.

Sound quality may also vary depending on the source, connection, and music you are playing. If the sound becomes low while in use, follow the procedure below.
Turn off the speaker.
Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.

Rugged, Stylish, Great Sound

I picked this one as an upgrade to a the SRS-XB23 (which is still a great speaker). The XE300 has better sound to me. There are two features that have me using this every day. One, you can connect two devices to it at the same time, and two, it works well as a speakerphone. I have this connected to my phone for listening to music and podcasts throughout the day, and also paired to a laptop to use when I need to join meetings. The sound is great, a little bass heavy at first but can be adjusted in the Sony Music Center app. Using it for calls has worked surprisingly well. People on the other end said that my voice was clear and no issues. It is also very nice looking. While this is a rugged speaker, the texture almost looks like fabric, and it looks very nice. The shape is really nice for a rather bulky speaker, the angles make it easy to pick up or set on the side if you like. Having it out by the pool, there is no need to worry about splashes. Charging is done over usb type c, and charged very quickly. Battery life is great, I’m getting near the claimed 24 hours. This speaker can also be joined as a group with others (using the Party Connect feature). This allows all joined speakers to act as one, or you can join two together to make a stereo pair. I can’t think of any faults with this product, it seems perfect for my needs and I expect it to last for years.
