By downloading the Sony Music Center app, you will find all sorts of tools to fine-tune the speaker using the built-in EQ and maximize the volume to ensure optimal listening experience. To get the most out of the volume, turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device. You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission. If you hear muffled sound or very low-level sound from the speaker, adjust the volume level of the BLUETOOTH device to an appropriate one, and then adjust the volume level of the speaker with the +/- (volume) buttons on the speaker. The speaker is not as loud as it advertised in store- and the battery for it being new does not hold it very long. It certainly do not last 25 hours as it states. We had it fully charged - used it for 5 hours. Turned it off- went to use it 4 days later it was telling us low battery….also the range is not what it’s advertised.. went inside the house with the speaker on porch and it went all cranky and disconnected - I wasn’t even 10 feet away from it. Dont waste your money on this speaker. Not pleased considering the cost I paid for it.

It's good, it's real good even, but.........
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is worth $200 for the times you can find it on sale for that, which is thankfully not hard. Love that it has a built-in carrying handle, bonus is that it retracts, so it's not in the way. Also, if you're going to add lights to your speaker, take notes from Sony. This is how you want party lights on your speaker, if you want them at all. Subtle. Plain and simple. But as good as it is it feels like a couple of things are a miss. For one thing, it just feels like Sony is trying too hard with this. Yes it'll fit into most people's lives if they get it, yes it has great sound & great bass, but it seems like Sony is really striving to make an effort here to compete with their obvious main competitor JBL. It's like this is Sony's version of the JBL Xtreme 3 while the Sony XG500 is their version of the JBL Boombox 3. However Sony is giving us better prices than JBL at the moment and Sony is also NOT cutting corners with either sound quality or how powerful their speakers currently are. So do I recommend this? Well yes, provided you catch it on sale. Regular price version JBL Xtreme 3 vs regular price version Sony XG300 I'd say get the JBL Xtreme 3. However as Sony is giving retailers better sale price opportunities than JBL I'd recommend a Sony if you can wait to get it on sale. That'll be a big factor for many I'm sure: do you want/need it right away, and if so, is either of them on sale? This will get your party started and keep it going too just as much as any JBL speaker, so I'd recommend going off price at time of buying. But also, my main recommendation is looking at this speaker in general. Without comparing it to anything else. Even then it's well worth a couple hundred bucks.

Best Bluetooth Speaker for 2022

I unboxed it and plugged it in the wall and connected the USB C power cord to the back. Then it was charging. I turned it on and it entered pairing. I went to my iPhone settings and connected and was able to stream music. Everything worked well. I further setup the Sony Music Fiesta app and it gave me options for sound profile, pairing other speakers, controlling lighting profiles. In the app you can control your music like on phone or Spotify so that makes things easy. Also, you can not use the app and just stream music from your device like any other Bluetooth source which is how I prefer it Sound Quality: I played with the clear sound profile and the manual Eq but unfortunately, I was not able to get a balance of bass from the mega bass vs no bass with mega bass off. I understand though since it Is Bluetooth, and the speakers are only so big. The biggest surprise is the separation of mids and tweeters which gives cleaner and louder sound. This really moved this device up a whole other level form the smaller previous gen Sony Bluetooth speaker. They were smaller but this is worth the trade of for a fuller sound. Speaker phone: I tried the speaker phone since that was unique to this category of device. I was told that the callers on the other side could hear their own voices and my voice was very faint. I tried to get close and at a normal 6’ distance and nothing helped. In a pinch I could see it working for a friend who calls in at a gathering where everyone would talk to them but for anything else I think there are many other options. Battery life. I found I was able to listen to it all day at work for 3 days now for 8 hrs and it still has not died. Also, I did charge my phone on the included usb ports while streaming for 3 hours. That is more than enough to go between charges for me. I think you could easily make a few days at the beach or camping without a power charger. Other: I liked the built-in handle which is nice. I like that it is waterproof and dustproof so if can really be used anywhere. I also like the lights on the side subs which as pizzaz without being too much. I also am not sure on the size since it is pretty wide which is fine but I cannot stand it on it’s side without covering one of the speakers. I think this is the most balanced Bluetooth speaker I have tested to date. Awesome job Sony.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.If you want a powerful party speaker with great sound, the Sony SRS-XG300 Bluetooth Speaker is everything you want. It is the perfect speaker for a party at the beach, lake, pool or weekend away and checks all the boxes: long battery life, superb sound, easy setup, heftable package, and reasonable controls. And it is really, really loud, fill the room loud. There are light rings on either end of the tubular speaker that provide some neat effects without being obnoxious. Pairing is fast, particularly if you have an Android phone with Google Fast Pair: turn on the speaker and a pairing notification pops right up. Otherwise, there is a Bluetooth button, along with a power, mega bass, play, volume up, and down along the top. Also a popup carrying strap. The Mega Bass button switches on a bass heavy sound mode, perfect for beats or party dance. For more controls, you install the Sony Music Center app (windows or phone) for audio controls and the Sony Fiestable app for all sorts of lighting patterns. As far as I can tell, you'll want to install both. The Music Center app works well on a Windows system, Chromebook, and Android phone. Not the best looking app, but functional and it gives you an equalizer, remote volume control, and battery level. There are a couple of extras worth mentioning. It's both waterproof (IP67, well splashproof) and dustproof, so it's ok at the beach, lake, on a boat or even a drizzly campsite. There is a (output) charging port for charging a phone or other devices, nice if you are out for a weekend and forgot a charger. There is a button under the charging cover to limit the battery charge and prolong the life of the battery(the other Sony speaker I have is going on three years, so they seem to use high quality cells). It also has a noise and echo cancelling microphone that will let you take your calls. It works pretty well. Probably the only downside is that the size and weight (6lbs) keep it from being a 'throw in the bag' speaker. It's a speaker to get a party started and keep it going. Overall, the Sony XB300 is an excellent portable speaker with great sound, build quality, battery life and features, making it an excellent value and highly recommended.

The sound may become low in the following cases. This is not a malfunction.
- When the built-in battery is running low and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only.
- When the rechargeable built-in battery is running low as a result of long-time use of the speaker at a loud volume even though the speaker was connected to an AC outlet by a USB AC adaptor (commercially available) or to a computer that comes equipped with a USB charging port.
- If the sound becomes low while in use, we recommend to turn off the speaker, then charge the built-in battery sufficiently.
It's unfortunate to learn that the unit had to be returned. We hope you will consider Sony again in a future purchase. Thank you for the feedback.

Crisp, as if the artist or movie sounds were live in the room. Watch out, you may think your favorite singer has paid you a visit. All speakers should sound this great. I love taking it with me in my car as well as my car speakers aren’t the best. This speaker makes up for that loss. The range from which Bluetooth can connect is far. I’ve connected from a different room but the room was open to the other room where the speaker was placed. The speaker was placed in different parts of the home, bedroom on a high chest, living room, on top of tv stand, on the floor both wood floor and rubber like mats, on a table and also in the kitchen. This speaker really is the one to have at your next party, while watching a move on a projector and more. I like to playback karaoke I’ve sung and wow, can I really hear the good, the bad and the ugly of my singing. It allows me to correct my singing since the clarity and sharpness of the tones are brilliant. Battery life is great! You may need to try several times before the Bluetooth kicks in ans recognizes the speaker. This is NOT an issue with the speaker as this happens with almost every device I’ve tried to connect to my laptop. Simply toggle off and back on your computer’s, laptop’s, or phone’s Bluetooth several times and also press on the blue tooth button on the speaker several times if it doesn’t connect the first time. It will connect. I love the sleek design and how it has easy to clean rubber sides. There’s a cover to the charging compartment to prevent dust/fluids from getting in. It’s a large speaker as far as portables goes but that’s not a negative. It’s powerful and bold and it goes beyond what any music/movie/party enthusiast would want in a speaker. The sound carries wonderfully to other rooms if you chose to play it loud. It is only my opinion as a lay person that this speaker may be a device that can be used to help persons who have a challenge hearing clearly. During phone conversions, using this speaker to connect with on your calls can allow for clarity. Makes for an excellent gift as well.

great until a device update

This thing worked great in Party Mode connecting with an ULT Field 7. Until it took an update. Now the audio cuts in and out. Only when using this mode. Sony dropped the price by $200 recently which prompted the purchase. Shortly afterward they dropped a bunch of new ULT devices. I hope their is no intentional obsoletion at play.

To resolve this, please try resetting the speaker by pressing and holding the (play)/(call) button along with the MEGA BASS button until the device powers off (this should take about 5 seconds or longer). Please ensure that the speaker is turned on while performing these steps, as it cannot be initialized when powered off. Decent sound, not very loud
