The speaker has an operating range of approximately 30 feet (10 meters) within a line of sight but will vary depending on the surrounding conditions. It is recommended to use the speaker within this range when using the Bluetooth connection.
NOTE: Communication range will vary according to whether walls or other obstacles are located between the devices, the material used in the intervening walls, the presence of Radio Frequency (RF) interference and other environmental conditions, and the type of software being used, if applicable.

If still not resolved, initialize the speaker:
-While the speaker is turned on, press and hold the (play)/(call) button and the MEGA BASS button until the speaker turns off (5 seconds or more). The speaker is initialized. Settings such as volume, etc., are restored to the default settings, and all pairing information is deleted.
Note: The speaker cannot be initialized while the power is off.

Does the power light indicator light up when you press the power button? In the meantime try to reset and initialize the speaker. Press the power button and hold it for 8 seconds to restart the speaker. If the speaker still fails to operate successfully after you restart it, initialize the speaker to resume its default settings.Press and hold the(play)/(call) button and the MEGA BASS button until the speaker turns off (5 seconds or more). Please note that the steps above will reset your speaker to its default settings. Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is a very good speaker, but how good almost anything is often dependent in part at least by how good of deal you can get on it. Speakers are among the things where deals come and go quite frequently. For example, lately the JBL Xtreme 3 is on sale and has been for quite a while for $280 down from it's regular price of $380. That's a good deal, but a different scenario than here. The JBL Xtreme 3 isn't as new as a lot of other speakers (even if it is the newest in JBL's Xtreme line-up) and so it's because of that it's sale isn't likely to go away anytime soon. Meanwhile the Sony XG-300 is comparably a much newer speaker and so while sales come about for it, they're not usually assured or as long running of a sale. As of the time of my writing this review it's currently at it's best sale price (which it's been at a couple of times before, but not many) of $200, a sizeable drop down from it's regular price of $350. Moreover it still frequently is sold at $350, almost as much as it is on sale, and generally at fewer places too. So pay attention to both sale pricing and where the sale is to get a good deal on this speaker. If it's sold out or not on sale at the time you're in the market for a speaker, I'd recommend a JBL Xtreme 3 or at least a JBL Charge 5. I would NOT recommend the Sony XE-300 unless you're a ridiculously blind follower and fanboy/fangirl of Sony as even though it's super easy to find for $150 and is Sony's best offering right now for that price point, it's of note that that speaker is implementing a different sound technology all together that sounds alright, but has next to no bass. So while this is about the XG-300 and I have to add that to get there comparisons are important. There's so many options it's just not smart to comparison shop.

The XG300 thrives with clarity and sounds great enough when equalized and/or paired with another Sony speaker, other than that don't expect heavy bass nor loud thumping sound. The built in retractable handle is also nice.

Great weight for the sound level

I was looking at that super big JBL because of the sound level but this speaker is just so much easier to carry and still has a loud sound level. The mega bass feature is also a super cool and fun add-on. My friends love the light features too.
